The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.
Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.
The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.
→ VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS
The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.
The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

I'll be careful. I can heal myself too, so nobody will ever know I got hurt.
no subject
By the way, I've been meaning to ask you a question. [she pauses.]
How did you figure out a fighting style that suits you? I'm not very strong but I have spells like agility boosts, magic and some healing.
no subject
[ He could do that because he has multiple Personas, though, which isn't the case for people here. ]
Work with your strengths. Get better at magic so you can hit hard and take down enemies quickly. With high agility, you can afford a weak defense. Just don't get hit. Healing is there if you do get hit, but that doesn't have to be the strongest either, if you're fast.
[ With anybody, he can take a skillset and make it work. That's what he did as field leader, and his role was to fill in the gaps. ]

[She can admire and respect that. It must take a lot of dedication and work to do lots of things at once. Doesn't it also mean that Minato has many talents? That's very impressive.]
Oh! Did you know that Iris is a goddess in Greek Mythology? She's a messenger of the gods. That means she has to be quick!
I hope I can live up to that. [Iris is a huge nerd when it comes to lore and things like that so she's happy that there's so much of it down here.]
no subject
Iris... yeah, Tatsuya had a Persona called Iris, of the Star Arcana, just like you. The Greek goddess of rainbows who traveled around the world, and even the underworld. It sounds like a lot of fun.
[ He would totally zoom in and out of hell if he were able to. ]
no subject
[The star arcana thing checks out too. It all matches up pretty well.]
I want to hear good news from you soon! Tell me when your memories are okay!
no subject
It's all over the place. Once I got back a memory of me getting run over by a truck, and another time it was me taking my dog out for a walk.
[ Sometimes they're okay! Usually, it's the dog memories that were okay. Everything else just sort of sucked, but that's his lot in life. ]
no subject
[But Minato's standing here right now and that's what matters.]
I guess it would be like playing a game of scrabble. The pieces are there it just doesn't make sense.
no subject
Yeah, that's a good analogy. There's pieces, but nothing makes sense, and I dunno what order things are. There's some useful pieces, but also really useless ones, and it's at the point where you want to flip the board and give up.
[ So now he's just collecting pieces. 230498537234247 years worth of pieces, and 99.99999% of it is mundane junk. ]
no subject
Back home we had technology that could help with that. There's this super awesome machine that lets you go into peoples dreams.
Dreams often hold memories too, right? I think it would have been a littlr useful.
[Experincing memories differently would have offered a new perspective.]
no subject
[ It sounds convoluted, when dreams twist memories and make them even more incomprehensible than before, and any little thing could either be misinterpreted or have some deep seated meaning he's liable to miss anyways, so used to taking just surface meanings. ]
I don't remember my dreams, so if I could be lucid in my own, that'd help a lot. We can't do anything like that here, though... All I can do is visit the Velvet Room in my subconscious when I'm asleep, but that doesn't help anything either.
no subject
Yup! That kind of technology is off limits to normal people. It's mostly used for treating psychological brain damage, trauma and things like that.
[She does think it would be good for Minato to try out. Shame about the velvet room though.]
I think most of us don't remember our own dreams. Do you get a good rest at night?
no subject
Nah, I always have a terrible time sleeping, trying to make up for it with long hours, but I dunno if it works. Would that technology help me sleep? I bet it'd help people sort themselves out so they'll stop creating Shadow selves. That'd be real useful.
[ Every single one of his Guests has some degree of trauma and he can't help any of that... It kind of sucks. ]
no subject
[She doesn't get the pass in government secrets.]
still, I heard about the shadows from Toki and Rei. It must get really bad.
no subject
Yeah... I don't have much experience with them, but Souji does. It happens for different reasons... when there's a part of you that's out of line, behaving in a way that goes against your beliefs or that you're ashamed of and try to hide from the world. That sorta stuff. If there's something going on and you're not feeling right, it's good to talk about it before it gets to that point.
[ Nobody talks about anything. That's why Shadows happen. ]
no subject
I understand what you're getting at. There's a lot of things I don't want anyone to know about. Isn't that human nature though?
We're thinking about stuff all the time. Some of it's not for sharing.
[Even if it does result in poor consequences later down the line.]
no subject
[ That whole thing about getting hit by a truck? Yeah. He's never talking about that to anybody, but at least he doesn't internalize it and suppress it. He gets why he did it, and he's at peace with the decision. ]
It's fine as long as you don't let it eat away at you. And if you do need to talk to someone about it, you have people here. That's the most important thing. Knowing you don't have to face things alone.
no subject
[She makes a fist bumping motion.]
So, there's this girl I used to talk to a lot. Her name's Mizuki and she's amazing. She's only twelve years old but she's way smarter than me and acts more mature than adults. We can always get assistance from unexpected places.
no subject
I know a guy like that.
[ A child who acts more mature than he is, but is always putting forth his best effort so he doesn't fall behind- as if he's the one lagging instead of pushing the team forward at times. ]
But that's right. Everybody here... even if they seem weird or unreliable, they can help in their different ways. And if you can't find anybody who can help, there's Souji.
[ GET A MAN WHO CAN DO IT ALL. ]
