The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Thankfully for everybody, Souji had confiscated the carolina reaper, so it really can't get much worse ]

Sure. What do you want to eat?

[ Bless Souji... Terry thinks about it for a moment, trying to come up with a breakfast food that doesn't need eggs and is relatively simple. ]

Hash browns! What about you?

[ Hash browns... He'll have to get Souji to make it first so Minato can sit on the counter and watch how it's done. ]

Hm... Something crunchy.

Hm...

[ Crunchy breakfast food... he already asked for hash browns, so he needs to think of something else. ]

How about bacon lattice breakfast pie? Or breakfast tacos? Pick one.

Tacos are more fun to eat.

[ They're messier than pies, but that's what makes them fun, and that's apparently the criteria Minato's going off of. ]

Then it'll be breakfast tacos next time!

[ He's actually pretty stoked about this now. Maybe it's a little piece of happiness that revolves around the topic, but the smiles really help too. It feels warm and nice. These are the small bits of happiness, Minato. You're seeing it in real time. ]

[ Yay... Squeezing the last bits of happiness out before October slams everybody. But this is nice; it's nice seeing Terry smile just like it's nice seeing anybody smile— especially with how rare it is around Minato in particular. It's good. He likes this. ]

[ It's like a little happiness spiral... ]

I'll make the best breakfast tacos you'll ever eat.

[ Terry knows that the Attendants don't really have to eat to survive. He's seen it firsthand--Minato just "hibernating" for several days on the couch without eating anything. Regardless of that fact, it's not like happiness always has to be derived from necessary things. Indulging in things like this is nice too.

Even though the little happiness is brimming between the two of them, Terry is afraid that it'll stop when he asks him something, like the time when he told Minato to call for Souji when he was cooking bear meat for them, but... well... maybe it's important for Minato to know. ]

Did you feel happy, Minato? Even a little?

[ Whatever he was feeling, it disappears right when Terry says it, as if happiness is painfully shy and ducks away the moment Minato is made aware of it. It's as if the moment he's aware of it, his mind goes "oh, this feels wrong" and rejects it completely, leaving him quiet and staring down at his hands, trying to remember what the feeling was like— to smile and laugh and be able to look forward just a little bit. It's fleeting, and then it's gone. ]

...Yeah, I think I was.

[ He must have been. He was smiling; that's proof that he was happy, even if he can't recall now. ]

I guess it makes me happy, talking with you. So thanks.

[ Terry more or less expected this, but it sucks to actually see it happen. He still keeps up the smile on his face though. ]

I'm glad.

[ Though he pokes at Minato's cheek and pushes it up a little to make a sloppy half-smile. But Minato's expression looks pretty amusing to look at, so he tries to hold back a laugh instead. ]

Because it made me really happy too.
