LOCATIONS

The rural town of Hirajiro is set within the boundaries of a lake at the center. A sprawling forest encompasses the town and is encircled once more by the expansive mountain range. Strangely, climbing up to the mountain peaks after leaving the forest, there seems to be the same forest and town on the other side - the world is, in fact, looped around so that leaving one edge of the world simply brings the character back to the other edge. Although the sky remains overhead at all times, Hirajiro is set within a spherical world with the town enclosed within: walk far enough in one direction and you eventually appear right back where you started from.

TOWN

Hirajiro itself is very rural and widespread around the lakeside with many of the townspeople being craftsmen servicing the people around town. The community is largely self-sufficient when it comes to farming, tailoring, carpentry, and other necessities. There are fields dispersed throughout the buildings here wherever the land is flat and fertile and hundreds of stray cats wander the streets and straight up to people, being no strangers to begging for food.

Main locations around town:

Lake: surrounded by the town is a large lake, previously crystal clear lake though no fish exist in the waters. As of October 28, 2019, there is a large rift spanning across the bottom of the lake outside of Lockdown. As of December 28, 2019, the water has turned turbid, and the water level has dropped substantially.

DUNGEON: During Lockdown, the lake transforms into a dungeon with four floors before reaching the boss. The floors resemble parts of Hirajiro and the surrounding wilderness, and each floor is constantly raining.

Residential area: The residential area consists mainly of small family houses, but there is also an apartment building and a single inn which doesn’t see many customers and have rumours that the rooms might be haunted. They’re cheap rooms, though, if you don’t mind the mysterious moaning at night. One of the rooms is blocked off with police tape, and investigations seem slow to resolve, especially after many of the records were burnt in a fire at the police station.

Black Cat house residents: Rei Kido, Terrence Nowell, Tokidoki Kido, Tsubomi Kido
Black Cat clubhouse residents: Akira Kurusu, Iris Sagan, Red, Rio Takeuchi, Sasuke Sagami, Yamato Howard
    Haunted inn residents: Nero

School: Due to the low population of the town, the elementary, middle, and high school buildings all exist next to each other on the same campus. Students typically graduating high school to learn a trade from somebody in the town.

DUNGEON: During Lockdown, the school transform into a dungeon with three floors before reaching the boss. The floors of this dungeon resemble the same area around the school each time, although the setting changes between them.

Hospital: The ruins of a small town hospital sits next to the school, and is closed to public access.
Community Center: A clinic and pharmacy is set up inside the community center to service the town while the hospital is being rebuilt. The meeting rooms are currently all occupied by hospital beds, but there is a small gymnasium and a central walking garden.
Jailhouse: As of November 2019, a jail featuring exactly one cell has been constructed, located on the other side of the lake away from the residential area.

Jailhouse residents: Jiro Azuma, Kousuke Seto

Occult Shop: Located in the central shopping district, this store mainly sells books and items based on the Japanese occult. The owners of the store, an elderly couple, will also buy some of the items that Shadows will drop in the dungeons. At times, the couple's grandson can be seen reading books inside the store.

FOREST

The forest surrounding the town is filled with tall, densely packed trees. There are some trails leading through the forest, but almost all of them remain close by the edge of town without venturing far into the forest. Various animals live in the forest, including herds of deer and the occasional bear. Cats have taken over the forest as well and can often be found hunting the small rodents or birds that share the land. One area of the forest, away from the torii, castle, shrine, and town, has been cleared of trees, instead appearing as a giant hole filled with many tiny craters. Thanks, Terry.

Main locations in the forest:

Castle ruins: A single stone path exists that cuts through the forest, but it has been overgrown with underbrush and is clearly no longer used. This path leads to a clearing in the middle of the forest. In the center of the clearing, there is the ruins of the castle that characters initially wake up in upon arrival. The place seems to have been abandoned for years, overgrown with weeds and wild animals occasionally taking shelter inside (and possibly fighting characters for that soft mossy patch to sleep on), but it is structurally sound with little danger of collapse if characters choose to stay. As of November 03, 2019, both the first and second floors of the castle have been permanently restored. The overall foundation and pillars of the castle have been repaired, the rubble has been cleared away, and the walls of both the first and second floor are covered in murals that depict a small village surrounded by farmland, a familiar lake at the center, and flocks of crows adorning the skies with one large crow standing on the peak of the mountain overlooking the town. On the second floor, there is an abandoned armory near the center. The stairs to the third floor remain broken. Near the castle, a large area has been flattened and cleared of trees, in a long snake imprint. Thanks, Orien.
Velvet Room: As of August 15, 2019, the Velvet Room is now accessible for Persona users. Its main entrance can be found next to the throne at the castle, though it can also be found by the dungeons and the shrine, and occasionally randomly throughout town. Stepping through will bring you to your character's own personal room which has a placard with their name and arcana set on the door. Looking out the window reveals inky blue darkness with spots of light floating past the windows like stars. Venturing out of the room reveals a long lounge with music that immediately fills your head rather than just your ears, which may occasionally change, but tend to loop nonstop for an entire month or more. Passing through the door at the end of the lounge brings characters to the conductor's cab, revealing the Velvet Room's setting as a train. The various cabs will shake and rock occasionally as it moves along to an unknown destination.

Velvet Room residents: Ala, Cyrus, Minato Arisato, Souji Seta, UMP45

Shrine: Another overgrown path leads away from the castle to a shrine tucked away in the woods. An offertory box sits at the back of the shrine with some stones, bright colors made dull from layers of dust, scattered on the bottom. As of November 03, 2019, the shrine is partially restored. The broken stone lanterns are restored to perfection and lit with white-blue flames, the stair steps are even and clean, the water basin is no longer filled with algae and has clean water, and the sign now stands up straight. A honden stands at the back of the shrine, flanked by statues of large birds. As of December 03, 2019, a bell has been hung over the offertory box, and the sign is covered in black paint, though it still does not have a name.

DUNGEON: During Lockdown, the honden at the back of the shrine transforms into a dungeon with one main hub and numerous offshooting floors representing people's worst fears and memories.

Torii: A torii can be found in the middle of the forest. It appears to have been struck by lightning, and is in rough shape.

MOUNTAINS

The mountains wrap around the forest, soft forest floor transitioning to more rocky mountains, the trees covering the rock shorter and more sparse in foliage. There aren’t any mountain paths to be found, so take care when travelling through the mountains! While the stray cats tend to stay away from the mountains, it is the home of several mountain... cats... As of December 28, 2019, the four highest mountain peaks have been damaged by an avalanche, revealing a path that leads from the base of the mountains to a shrine hidden on the mountainside.

Main locations in the mountains:

Shrine: A shrine sits on the mountainside, buried under heaps of snow.

There's a torii out in the middle of the forest! It's just out there somewhere, it isn't particularly close to anything. The torii seems to have been struck by lightning and is in fairly rough shape, but somehow it's still standing.

Changes:

Terry went nuts and grazed like... a lot of the forest closer to the mountains with his rain of arrows. If you look from the sky, there will be a giant hole of no trees in the forest with a lots of tiny craters. It's nowhere near the torii, castle, town, nor shrine.
