Personality: Red's most defining characteristic is his quietness -- he has no speaking lines in any of the games he appears in past RBY/FRLG, however when the interaction is more than just a Pokémon battle or when he doesn't have anyone around to speak for him, he is capable of talking which is shown in his interaction with the Copycat in Saffron City in RBY/FRLG. He has steadily become even more quiet and reclusive than before due to his relationship with his childhood friend Green going sour and the sudden, unwanted fame he gained from defeating Team Rocket and becoming the new Indigo League Champion (though he no longer holds this title), and at this canon point he simply spends all of his time in Mt. Silver, training his Pokémon in complete solitude. In addition to his love for Pokémon battling, he also greatly enjoys exploring new places and the adrenaline rush he feels whenever he overcomes any dangerous situations/encounters along the way. Although he vastly prefers being in the company of Pokémon/animals in general rather than other people, that doesn't mean he hates humanity or anything. Beneath his laconic, stoic exterior, he is extremely empathetic and caring and will not hesitate to go out of his way to help out anyone he comes across that needs it, human or Pokémon alike.
CRAU: Red has just survived a horrific Nonary Game, which gave him his first taste of death and moral dilemmas. He usually doesn't mind being in dangerous situations at all and even enjoys them at times, but he's found that being trapped in an experiment where you're forced to kill nine of your fellow participants is far more terrifying than fending off vicious wild Pokémon, battling legendaries, and singlehandedly infiltrating the various bases of an organized crime group combined. He spoke more words, expressed more raw emotions than he has in a very long time and was able to form a few bonds, however he was also responsible for four deaths -- Miyako Hotsuin, Erika Furudo, Kaede Akamatsu, and Yuusuke Sagami, the last one affecting him the most because he deliberately killed Yuusuke with his own two hands outside of a Decision Game via slitting his throat with a knife, a murder which he carried out partially out of deep hostility towards Yuusuke and partially to protect someone else. In hindsight, it greatly disturbs him that he was able to kill someone in cold blood, even though he also believes it was the right thing to do at the time. Regardless, it's not an experience that he ever wants to repeat again and will draw deeper into his reclusive shell as he recovers from deep emotional/mental exhaustion and tries his best to cope with his newfound fear of himself, as well as the dark side of humanity that not even his run-ins with Team Rocket had prepared him for.
