In dungeons and around town during the Lockdown period, Shadows will drop a stone upon being defeated. These stones come in various colors and aren't recognized by the NPCs to be anything more than some pretty, colorful stones, but the characters will come to realize that the stones are the same ones found in the offertory box in the shrine in the woods and mountains. Characters may make an offering at either of these shrines, or give them to the Attendants, and gain in-game rewards.

These rewards are earned by players by submitting additional threads over what is required for AC. Bonuses come in the form of stat boosts (+1 to each stat), new Persona skills, game effects, plot clues, items, and canon abilities and items. Canon regains include additional animal companions if owned by the character and their corresponding skills. Threads must be started within the current or past month to count towards bonuses (e.g. during October, threads started in September or October may be submitted at any time, but threads started in August or earlier can no longer be turned in). In addition, each thread must have at least five comments from you.

Bonus threads may be submitted at any time. For each three threads submitted, players earn one bonus of their choice, plus one randomized bonus based off the color of the stone they submit. Players have the option of accepting or ignoring the extra bonuses as they wish.

Along with the number of threads, players must specify one of the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, brown, black. Each color is associated with a different gemstone which corresponds to a certain bonus type, altering the odds of getting a certain bonus. Players may also specify whether the character would ICly donate to the forest shrine, mountain shrine, or the Attendants, which will have in-game effects for the game as a whole.

It's nighttime, the sky completely dark without moon nor stars while you're walking down the familiar streets of the town, the sounds of gurgling and groaning all around you in the near distance but nothing's immediately apparent when you turn around and peer through the darkness. It feels like you've been walking for a long time, limbs heavy and head stuffed full of cotton, but eventually, you make your to the edge of the forest and down the path that leads to the castle. Your feet drag behind you, each step requiring more effort than the last, until you make it to the castle proper, walls crumbling and door behind the throne barely visible but no light shines out from the portal. There's nothing but darkness, the sound of labored breathing and hissing between your ears, a wet gurgle that sounds closer but instead of looking around, you ignore it, falling to your knees in front of the ofuda door.

Then the darkness lifts, as if dawn had finally come, and you turn to look behind you— you stare into searing white light, so bright that your eyes sting and burn until all there is is painful white light, an overwhelming pressure that takes the form of dread rooting you to the spot— then a sharp pain as if your head is splitting open and cracking into two, brain melting out of your skull and the rest of your body burning from the inside out.

Plot clue: While Terry is out doing grunt work around town, he'll overhear a conversation between a young boy and his older sister. The boy is in tears, tugging on his sister's hand and saying that the crows have been staring at him and that he's scared, while his sister rubs his back and tells him not to be silly, that the birds might just have been looking at the shiny buttons on his coat or something, and reminds him not to play in the forest if he's scared of the crows. Between sobs, he cries about seeing monsters around town lately and asks his sister if they've always been there; she looks uneasy and doesn't answer right away, but then pulls him into a hug and admits she's not sure, saying that she sees them too, but has a feeling they've always been around.
