The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Minato's in the conductor's cab, and had his head down on his arms folded over the dashboard when Terry comes in. Another Shadow dungeon month, another headache month, which seems to be every month now. August was a great month where nobody died, and Minato would also like to go back to that. ]

What is it...? Something you really can't do on your own?

[overstrain]

[ Just suffer with us, Minato. ]

I can't block instant kill spells on my own. I was wondering if you could make some paper-like things to nullify them. I need five of those. I...

[ ...

Terry tries to calm himself down from panicking. Deep breaths. Deep... breaths. ]

Sorry for springing this on you all of a sudden. I'll give you an IOU for later. I want to get Rei back as soon as I can.

[ Maybe everybody else should get a grip and be happier. ]

I don't care about IOUs. Are you going in there planning to fight? Or stave off Ananke's spells until you're able to get your intentions across? What's your plan?

[ Have one, or Minato's not handing anything over. People waltzing in two at a time is stupid enough; people approaching a Shadow without a plan is even stupider. ]

[ Terry seems earnest in this, because that's what he planned to do before coming to the Velvet Room. ]

... Is that... not what I should do?

I'm not here to tell you what to do. What are you going to do after her sixth Mamudoon?

[ Ananke is going to keep casting it until Terry dies, because he sucks at talking. Why is five the magic number... He'd better not come back to Terry and ask for six talismans. ]

[overstrain]

There won't be a sixth one.

[ It's said with confidence, but he doesn't really sound proud about it. He's not pinpointing, but he gets what Minato's thinking, so: ]

... I won't come back to ask you to make more.

Why can't you do it without fighting?

[ He was going to start with why can't Terry get through to the Shadow in four Mamudoons instead of five, and slowly make his way back to three to two to one to none, but that conversation would take too long, so he's skipping to the end. ]

[overstrain]

That's what I'm trying to do, but I wasn't even armed when that spell hit me, so whether I'm armed to the teeth or not at all, those spells will still be there to target me. That's all there is to it.

[compendiem]

[ Maybe the trick is to not bring Kido to piss Shadows off and cause them to attack. ]

Souji's dealt with Shadows before, not me. He'd be able to give you better advice for talking to Rei...

[ Souji also just beat up the Shadow instead of talking to them, but. Anyways. ]

I can lend you an item that can nullifying the spell completely, but in exchange, I want to go with you into the dungeon. I won't interfere with anything. It's up to you to talk to Rei. And this offer is good for only one night. What do you think about that?

[overstrain]

I'll do it.

[ There's no hesitation. No wavering in his voice. ]

When are you free? Whenever? Or do I have to wait for you to make the item?

[ The 10th is Terry's last shot, because he'll be extremely happy from 11-14 and he'll mess up everything again by looking like a happy, crazy yandere if he has to fight. ]

[compendiem]

[ You have no idea how tempting it is to make Minato say the 11th just to see happy, crazy yandere Terry. ]

Whenever. I already have the item, but I won't give it to you until we reach the Shadow.

[overstrain]

[ LMAO Maybe he can see the lite version when Terry goes to kill normal Shadows instead. Yeah... ]

Alright. We'll head over there on the next Lockdown then.

[ ...

He gives Minato a look. ]

I can rush through the Dungeon, right? Don't tell me you want to go sightseeing...

...Do you need a full hour to talk to the Shadow?

[ He wanted to go sightseeing. ]

[overstrain]

I might need time because apparently, I suck at talking to people.

[ Don't tell me you didn't see it coming, Minato... ]

[compendiem]

Five mamudoons take five seconds to cast.

[ Wasn't Terry just bragging about being able to do it within five? Minato was going to be generous and give him five minutes out of his sightseeing hour to talk. ]

[overstrain]

[ Why does everyone but Sasuke suck at talking to people. This is why Cetana is in shambles. Terry stares at Minato. ]

That's not the point, Minato...

[ He crosses his arms, but he gives in. It's not like Minato gets out much, and maybe he likes horror stuff. ]

... but fine, we can go through everything. Just don't leave me to die because you saw something fun.

[compendiem]

[ Prayerhands for Seto to SL everybody because he might actually have a chance. ]

...fine.

[ It's a reluctant "fine," but it's a promise. ]

So, tomorrow night? Can you come here first to pick me up?

[overstrain]

Next lockdown.

[ That's... basically tomorrow night, since it's at midnight, but wouldn't that be "tonight" instead? Terry thinks about this...

... ]

I can come pick you up.

[ Midnights are confusing and time doesn't exist in the Velvet Room, so Minato would have slept straight through Lockdown without noticing, hence needing to be picked up. ]

Okay. I'll be around here somewhere. I'll make a portal right to the hospital, so you don't have to come early or anything.

[overstrain]

Okay.

[ Terry breathes out a sigh of relief that he didn't know he was holding. ]

... Thanks, Minato. For going with me. Even if that's not your intention or whatever.

[compendiem]

If not me, it would've been somebody else, right?

[ RIGHT. YOU'RE NOT GOING ALONE, RIGHT. Though, Minato supposes if he had somebody else in mind, he would have asked for ten talismans and not just five. ]

I like Rei too. So I want to see her back safely too.

[overstrain]

[ Terry almost wants to start banter by saying "if I failed, would you still do something", to which he guesses that the answer would be a "no", and Terry doesn't even want to consider the possibility of failure. He wants to get it right this time.

He won't answer him. ]

Yeah. I'm glad you do too.

[ He smiles a little. ]

I'll be back later... the lake froze over so if you ever wanna go sledding or ice skating, let me know and we can go some other time.

[ Let's do some fun things over the month so that you're not extra miserable with your headaches, Minato. ]

Oh, the lake froze over... I'm going to invite UMP45 to go skating with me.

[ who the heck is that. Terry is also surprised that he's already made plans to go with someone. Wow. But he's happy that Minato does have plans in the first place though. ]
