The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

REQUEST 01 - CATS OF HIRAJIRO

『 Like... y'know, nyah. Nyah. 』 Characters will have to gather 20 cats in the throne room of the castle. For the completion of this request, players must submit one thread that involves herding all the cats into one space, whether it's in the throne room or in a separate location with the intention that the characters will later move these cats to the castle. The reward for completing this task is a portable med kit. It's probably for all those scratches and bite marks you'd definitely get from this task.

REQUEST 02 - ONMORAKI SCROLLS
CAP NONE	REQUESTED BY MINATO	DEADLINE NONE
『 ... meh. 』 Characters will have to obtain 10 scrolls from defeating the Onmoraki Shadows in the first dungeon (the school). For the completion of this request, players must submit two threads that involve defeating an Onmoraki. The reward for completing this task are three paper talismans that will each reflect magic once. Please make sure that you air out the scrolls first, though. Minato probably won't accept them if they smell like death.

REQUEST 03 - BLACK FEATHERS

『 There sure are a lot of birds in Hirajiro. 』 『 Caaaaw... or something like that. 』 Characters will have to obtain a single feather from each of the following: a Black Raven Shadow (from the first dungeon: the school), a Hybrid Shadow (also in the first dungeon), and a normal crow around town. For the completion of this request, players must submit two threads: the first one must involve defeating either Shadow and the second must involve obtaining a feather from a normal crow. The reward for completing this task is a case with a bow and arrows. All that bird hunting probably would have been easier if you had this first, huh?

8/18 - souji

[Red thought he would be stumbling into the hospital bathroom after a nurse kindly walked him there, but no, he ends up stumbling into some fancy ass train car instead. He looks around for a few seconds, then immediately steps towards the door leading into the lounge because he needs a bathroom dammit, but he ends up falling forward because his body is still weak from barely taking care of himself, his injuries and being stuck in bed for like two straight days, whoops. He manages to grab onto the doorknob as he falls, but that just twists the door open and now there's some kid in a blue hospital gown gracefully spilling out into the lounge, getting a face full of this fancy carpet.

And now he can hear rock music inside himself? What the fuck is this shit. Red just slept for two days and he already wants to sleep for another two. Is he even actually awake right now? He lifts his head up and looks around once again, locking eyes with a silver-haired boy. He has quite a few Questions here, but he'll start with the most pressing one, speaking in a strained voice.]

Where's... the bathroom?

[ souji, finally back in his uniform rather than his skirt, is sitting on one of the chairs and flipping through his compendium. he's interrupted from his peaceful read when some dumb kid in a gown decides to literally crash in. ]

[ he looks over and down at red. he then nods his head towards a door on the far end of the lounge. ]

Down the hall.

[ he closes his book and stands up, walking over to red and kneeling down. he'll offer a hand to help him up. ]

8/17 - minato

[ RO arrives at the castle at 11:30 PM, right on time. She enters the portal to the Velvet Room. She... did not have the chance to bring a pig with her today but that's fine. There's always another time.

She steps out of her room and calls out in her normally loud voice with the addition of her megaphone: ]

Clown-denizen, I am here to pick you up.

[ NOISY.....

Minato is asleep in the lounge— or, at least, he was asleep and is making a valiant effort to go back to sleep, lying lengthwise on one of the couches with no less than three throw pillows over his head with the intent of blocking out the noise.

It's unsuccessful, but he continues to lie there and play dead anyways in hopes that RO will just leave.

8/18? idk - souji

[ Here is one Guest that barges into the Velvet Room like usual. Though, he's not here to cook today. ]

Souji, I finally got the answer--

[ Oh, right. This is his room. For some reason he expected the attendants to be in his room... given the last time he was here... anyway...

So he goes around to look for him because his pinpointing stuff don't work here. ]

[ don't worry, terry, you don't have to go too far. in fact, the moment that you even try to approach the door, you favourite squishy persona will appear and block the way. ]

[ mara happily waves an arm and makes a joyful gross squelching sound. ]

8/17 - Souji

[He has maybe completed the quest to bring cats by now? We'll consider it Schrodinger's quest. But today is slightly different - today, he's bringing in a single and very special cat who is curled contentedly in his arms, tail flicking lazily this way and that.

[ so the introduction of cream-san begins... souji is sitting in the lounge and folding paper cranes when he spots sasuke. he would normally just give a wave and then get back to his little origami project, but the cat catches his eye. ]

Who do you have there?

8/23 - minato

[ All the things Rei told him had never left his mind. That's why as soon as the shift ends at the cafe, he bought a new batch of breakfast bars in a new plastic bag and as soon as he's about to leave the convenience store, he ends up in the Velvet Room.

...

He thinks to himself that they should really fix these portals... but he goes to the lounge to find Minato since he can't find Souji. Maybe he's in the middle of consulting with someone else. Unlike RO though, he's quiet when he arrives. ]

Minatoo... I need to talk to you specifically.

[ He pokes his cheek. It looks like his sense of sight is back, but his junk food obsession is still here to stay lol ]

[ If Minato were smart about not wanting to be bothered, he would go find a nice secluded spot in the forest to sleep instead of in the Velvet Room lounge where people know by now that's where he'll most likely be found. Terry isn't somebody he can hide from outside, though, and he has persistence enough that Minato— trying to swat at Terry's hand but misses to get air— instead just reaches for the bag he hears rustling around. His eyes remain closed the entire time. Zzzz, or something. ]

8/18 - Minato

[Hey Minato guess what!

We have a hidden quest to complete today, so might as well get to it! Sasuke will locate him wherever he is with a soft question:]

Did you still want to look around town?

[ Minato's in the lounge, as he will be 99% of the time Sasuke comes inside the Velvet Room looking for him— he's asleep on one of the couches, and when he hears Sasuke's voice, he sort of just... turns his head and buries his face into one of the couch cushion.

Is that a no... Maybe Sasuke's voice is too soft and he's just not awake. ]

8/25 - Souji

[ It's been over a week since Souji's cooking strike, but joke's on him because Terry took Minato out for burgers to tide him over through the winter. But joke's on Minato because he paid for those burgers.

He'd food coma'd for the entire day yesterday, thinking over everything new he had learned over the past several days— about everybody here, but also about themselves, something he never cared to think much about and now that it's been brought up, he's curious.

So, he wanders around the Velvet Room to find Cream-san instead of Souji because who knows where Souji is? His spidey sense will kick in when he feels Minato walking up to his beloved cat, Minato's sure. ]

[ minato is correct about his spidey senses because when he approaches cream-san (who meows at him and walks on over so she can get her pets), souji comes out towards the lounge. he just came from the kitchen, but he was just tidying it up again. there's not much he can do around here so reorganizing it is something that he does to pass the time. ]

Looks like someone is finally awake.

8/26 - minato

[ RO's entrance to the Velvet Room is pretty loud as usual, but this time, it's not her that's doing all the noise-making. It's the Japanese boar that she managed to keep in line somehow that's hogtied and pushed into the portal. RO puts the 2 tengu masks and the requested amount of steel on the table of her room. The boar is struggling and RO is missing a hand. But it's fine.

Well, no. Never mind. They're both loud now. ]

Clown-denizen!!

[ How else does she call for him--by yelling across the entire train car, of course. ]

[ Oh god, what the hell. It's so tempting to clamp his head in between the throw pillows on the couch, but it sounds like somebody is dying and it's sort of his job to keep that from happening, at least in his domain.

So he's quick to get to RO's room, although he takes one look at the situation and has to fight the urge to slam the door in her face to contain the damage to that room only. He'll just... summon Nekogami, the ghost cat shooting dream needles at the boar and tranquilizing it immediately. ]

You actually did it...

8/23 (late night) - minato

[ after rei finished showing her drawing to terry and got changed out of her work uniform, she ran over to the velvet room. she is very excited to show her drawing to the attendants in hopes that it can either jog their memories or be something that they can share. ]

Leader? Vice Leader?

[ she calls out as she enters the train, exiting out of her room. she holds the drawing in her hands and has a backpack slung over her shoulders. ]

[compendiem]

[ Leader has hecked off somewhere, but Vice Leader can be reliably found in the lounge in the middle of a food coma that he struggles to wake himself out of, flopping a hand over the armrest of the couch to wave Rei over and let her know where he is. Please don't make him get up and walk, he's eaten a hundred burgers or whatever and they're all super spicy and fire resistance doesn't help his stomach at all. ]

8/24 - minato

[ when souji opened the fridge, he was surprised to find stir fry. he definitely didn't make this so was it minato? hm, maybe but it's probably more likely that someone else did it. well, regardless, it takes him by interest. he has eaten his own cooking for so long that it's almost like a craving to try something different. even if he has no idea what's in this strangely bright red dish, he can't help his curiosity and so, he takes it out and with a spoon, takes a big mouthful of it. ]

[ ... ]

[ he immediately regrets his decision and it takes everything in him not to kneel over. he just barely manages to throw the spoon in the sink (it clatters loudly as he literally tosses it in, not gently at all) and put the mystery food x back in the fridge. he knows that water can't help his burning mouth or his revolting stomach. he just has to take it and wait until it passes. so, with heavy legs, he pulls himself out of the kitchen and somehow manages to get to the lounge. he falls onto one of the empty couches and immediately regrets it as the pain in his stomach flares up with the sudden impact of his back against the cushions. he lets out a low groan and puts his arm over his eyes, trying to think peaceful things and stop the thought that after hundreds or even thousands of years of staying alive in the velvet room, he's going to die because he ate some strange dish in the fridge. ]

[ ... and there's a part of him, a part that he's suddenly afraid of, that says that he would do it again if he got another chance. ]

[ Thankfully for Souji, nobody else is going to touch the leftovers so he's tree to eat it again. Don't waste food. It's why Minato just sort of stuck it back in the fridge after one bite.

Minato cracks and eye open from where he'd rolled off the couch at one point and fallen on the ground in the middle of his food coma, frowning and getting up to wander over to where Souji's lying.

He crouches next to him and stares for a bit, and then taps out some sort of rhythm on Souji's arm like he's playing the keyboard but has no idea what he's doing. ]

8/26 - souji

[ Sometime after RO leaves, Minato exits Terry's room and locks the door behind him. Maybe he took too long and didn't hear Souji come back, or maybe he didn't think he would run into Souji on the way to the kitchen or in it— he should know, for as often as Souji in always there like Minato is always in the lounge.

Maybe he stares Souji in the eyes with a bloody knife clutched in his hand and dripping blood all over the ground that Souji's going to have to clean up later because Minato wouldn't know what gets blood stains out of fabric. ]

Um.

[ How should he say this... ]

I need help getting rid of a body.

[ it really should be no surprise that souji is in the kitchen. that is practically his domain. just like how cats always have their favourite little spot to curl up and relax in, souji has his kitchen to find himself at peace. although with this strike, he hasn't been able to cook or experiment like he usually does since he's been trying to avoid cooking while minato is around. he figures that it's far too cruel to cook while he's in the velvet room and let him see and smell something that he could never taste... so he just cleans and reorganizes the kitchen a hundred times until he's satisfied. he's actually in the process of reorganizing his spices (he needs to hide the carolina reaper spice to avoid future casualties) and wearing his apron when minato comes in and souji just stares him dead in the eyes without a single blink. ]

[ ... ]

Poor Terrence. So there really is a way to kill him...

[ he doesn't seem that bothered by minato's plea for help. ]

8/28 - souji

[overstrain]

[ It's late at night, probably after Lockdown. Terry had been unable to sleep for almost 48 hours. He feels like he's going to die, but at least he's rich from selling off all that stuff from excessively grinding in the dungeon. Anyway, he's so tired that when he walks into the Velvet Room, he sees Rei in here (Rei why), so he figures that he could make some (midnight) snacks for her. It's not like he can do anything else, and he can't go to sleep no matter how much he wants to, so... he ventures to the kitchen.

Anyway, he walks into the Velvet Room kitchen as always, but he ends up screaming in surprise. Sorry, Velvet Room citizens. ]

What is that?!

[ It's still dark in here. ]

[ he better be sorry :/ rei is sleeping out in the lounge and she stirs a bit when terry screams. souji, on the other hand, was just peacefully making origami animals in the lounge when he heard the scream. well... time to go see what that was all about. he'll take the paper crane that he was working on with him, though. he has made these so many times that he doesn't even need to properly look down to make them in his hands, only taking very quick glances, so as he stands at the entrance of the kitchen, he's creating the crane as he looks at terry. ]

Aug 25 - Minato

[After some financial finagling, Enkidu has got enough of Kido's crane commission done that they have some spare income to fulfill what Minato asked of them. They always planned to, but getting books to gift to someone else is hard when you can't just steal the ones from the library by storing them inside your clay. (Besides, the clay would get in the pages and they'd probably be brittle and gross anyhow.) They are much more lightweight and store more words than tablets — Enkidu has to admit, they understand the convenience.]

[But eventually they return to one of the doors they've found to the Velvet Room, a stack of three books under their arm. It's not much, but they don't have a lot to spare here.]

[They head to where they found Minato sleeping the first time, and if he's not there, then they will continue wandering the Velvet Train.]

Minato? Are you here?

[compendiem]

[ Rather than the conductor's car up the very front of the train, Minato's found curled up on one of the couches in the lounge, taking up half the space he would when he's stretched out like a cat as usual, and with his face buried in one of the pillows.

If he was asleep, it doesn't matter anymore, because he lifts a hand— awkwardly, from how he's curled up on his side facing inward- and waves his hand in the air. He doesn't get up. ]

8/23 - Souji

[GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS.

Sasuke's been acting same as usual ever since their last conversation, so that's probably fine. He actually looks somewhat harassed when he shows up this evening however, probably because there's like ten new cats following behind him.

Kurou follows as well, but even he seems to be judging this situation a little.]

Souji?

[ lmfao this is why sasuke is the best. souji is just tidying up, making good use of his free time to keep the velvet room looking nice and clean, when sasuke comes in. ]

[ he greets before his attention immediately goes to the cats. !!!!!!!! ]

9/3 - minato

[ Assuming that Minato is sleeping in the lounge, RO slowly makes her way there. She's moving slower than her usual strides, her ankle seems obviously twisted from the way her foot is pointing in the wrong direction as she walks forward. She gets out her megaphone and she's about to speak into it, but her hand just flicks it away, making the megaphone bounce off Minato's head instead. ]

... My apologies, clown-denizen, but I require your assistance. I wonder if you had a quick fix for machine malfunctions. I underestimated the damage the water would do to my systems and it seems Amrita Drop doesn't fully work.

[ This is in the middle of the new dungeon lockdown phase, btw. ]

[ There he is, yeah. For once, he's not sleeping, but sitting on one of the couches and it almost looks like he's just staring at nothing and zoning out, until RO calls out to him and he blinks and is back. ]

Oh... Uh. Was this water pressure or a Shadow or something else? I'll go get a hairdryer...

[ Is this his quick fix? It's... it does something. ]

9/4 - minato

[ There's a little kid in the Velvet Room and it looks like he's out for blood. ]

Mi-na-toooo... Are you in the lounge...? You better hope I don't find youuu ★

[ Minato is in the lounge, face down on one of the couches with his face smothered in a pillow. He waves a hand to confirm that he's in the lounge, but since he's lying down, it's more like he flaps his hand to the side rather than up in the air.

What's up, Terrence. ]

9/7 - souji

aka I'm here for Terry to take Souji out to a bar. Where is he. He's gonna go look for him. ]

[ like most times, he's currently in the kitchen. there's not much for him to do on the train so he often finds himself going back. luckily, he's not in the middle of actually cooking something. he's just leaning against the counter, writing something down in a small notebook. he looks up once terry walks in. ]

Hey. [ he lowers his notebook and pen, placing them on his lap. ] Looking for Minato?

9/7 - minato

[ after the above thread with terry... souji somehow manages to get himself back to the velvet room. to put it mildly, he's drunk out of his mind and he can't remember... did he win that competition or did terrence? it's kind of hard to recall. it's just as hard to walk in a straight line. things are flowy and it's nice. he feels light and he leans far too long on the door frame before he enters the train. ]

Minato?

[ he calls out as he stumbles into the lounge. his face is red, he smells like alcohol, his words are slurred, and he's in his normal casual outfit but one of the collars of his overshirt sticking upright rather than down and one rolled-up sleeve is coming undone. the regular souji would never keep those little imperfections for long, far too concerned about his appearances, but he doesn't really care nor notice right now. he just wants to find minato so he sways into the lounge, walking at the pace of the snail because hm, there sure are a lot of chairs and couches around. it's difficult trying to navigate without falling onto them. ]

[compendiem]

[ They should really rearrange the furniture around the lounge someday; the mystery gang house could probably do with more furniture and the train could do with less. But Minato likes having them all around, because then he can rotate between them and the cushions don't get flat for being slept on the same spot all the time, though he has his favorite spot at the very end of the lounge just before the conductor's cab. It's his favorite because it means everybody has to wade through all the chairs and couches to get to him.

And it's that couch that he's lying on when Souji enters and calls his name, Minato lying on his back with his ankles propped up on the arm rest and looking over at Souji putting up a good fight against one of the chairs. ]

Souji... Over here.

[ He doesn't get up to help, but he sort of lifts both arms in the air and waves, just in case Souji's blind. ]

9/9 - souji

[reveilation]

[ Having her bathroom door be a Velvet Room portal was hella annoying, but she misses it in times like this, when she has to resort to going all the way to the castle in order to find him, and by the time she's there, she's tired and grouchy and maybe this isn't worth her effort. ]

Souji. Are you in?

[ She calls out through the train before she even gets to the lounge on the way up front. ]

[ oh thank god, she came in the day after souji's killer hangover. he's better now since he spent the previous day wanting to die and probably trying to sleep off everything, curled up on one of the many couches and not getting changed out of his dirty clothes. he's back to normal and in his uniform now, just cleaning up the lounge. he looks up when he hears someone calling out and walks on over to the source. oh, it's the girl who beat him with a bottle :/ ]

Hi, Tsubomi.

[ he hasn't gotten the memo that she prefers her surname. ]

9/10 - minato

[ Because Terry was assigned homework and it took several days to try and come up with several answers, so he walks into the Velvet Room today through the usual Castle Ouma portal and makes his way through to the lounge. ]

Minato... I'm here for my homework.

[compendiem]

[ Minato's on his designated couch on the far corner of the lounge, a record four pillows stacked on top of his face while he lies on his back, hands clasped over his stomach, but they're all too light to really do anything but muffle his voice slightly when he speaks. ]

I didn't give you homework.

Souji - 9/9

[Free food is important, and people have taught him to look to others for help when he needs it, so... here we are.]

...You wanted to go someplace?

[ souji's folding laundry when sasuke comes in. he smiles because oh, sasuke is going to take him up on the request? that's nice. ]

Yeah, if you don't mind taking me out.

9/13 - souji and minato

[overstrain]

[ Despite Terry's injuries, he got through all those other floors--through the sharp nature blades, the biting cold, and revisiting the toxic waters. He did his best to shield the bodies from anything that could have caused them any further harm, but he just sped through the waters like it was nothing. He gets to the Velvet Room door and some of the water splashes inside, making the floor wet. Perhaps the Velvet Room knew who was alive out of the group, because they land in Terry's room upon entry--all four bodies. There is no frantic running. There is no frantic screaming. Terry simply carries all of them, even though he has no powers in this zone, though he's clearly straining himself from doing so. not to mention that he's finally feeling the overabundance of poison in his system with the burns on his legs threatening to cripple him for life. He knows where at least one of the Attendants are, and he drops the soaking wet three corpses onto the couch before collapsing onto the floor himself--his breathing incredibly harsh and his burns infected with toxicity from the waters, and just the sheer exhaustion that's close to knocking him unconscious, but his endurance still trucks on, not letting him pass out until all this is finished. ]

Please... Help them. I'll do anything--

[ He spilled a lot of blood today, and he still is. Doesn't help that he just threw up even more blood on the floor, because at this point, nothing is in his stomach anymore. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato can be faithfully found in the lounge, but this time, he's awake. This time he's standing, staring, silent as he's enveloped in a soft blue light. For the briefest of moments, it's Ananke that flickers behind Minato, before Messiah steps out beside him instead, as if he'd changed his mind, not wanting to add insult to injury.

He casts Salvation on Terry, healing his wounds and ridding him of poison, but there is no salvation for the dead. There is no stopping the poison from continuing to corrode Mondo's heart long after it has stopped beating, no clearing out lungs choked with soot and will never give voice again. There is nothing Minato can do to help them, and nor is there anything he can do to help Terry.

He is not a miracle worker, an omnipotent god, as much as he wants to be, at this very moment. ]

9/16 - minato

[ When she didn't feel like running away from Shadows anymore, she found a great place to rest through this mysterious portal. Though she did throw a smoke grenade in there first to test the waters, but it seems fine. After the smoke cleared, 45 steps in and looks around. It's so... blue. The jingle in her head feels like her signal got intercepted by a grocery store, but it's whatever. It's not that important, but she'll keep it in mind. The furniture looks comfortable--definitely beats the throne chair outside. She wanders through the halls and enters the lounge.

...

She takes a cushion, goes to her room, and then comes back without it. Then she lifts another cushion off Minato's face and takes that one too. Then she comes back for another one and this cycle repeats until all the cushions are gone, or Minato stops her... somehow... ]

He doesn't even notice her until she takes that cushion off his face and he can breathe again, reluctantly opening his eyes to see 45's retreating back as she returns to her room. He just sort of lies there and watches her come back and forth, never getting up, never saying anything, never stopping her until all the cushions are gone.

Only then does he get up onto his feet to walk over to 45's room to see what the hell she's doing. She'd better not be taking the cushions outside to pad that throne; they'll get all dusty. ]

9/15 - souji

[ You know, even if Souji didn't win the bet for weekly checkups, Terry would have dropped by anyway, because he needs to let him know, if he didn't know already. This is after Rei's visit. He dropped by the previous day to cook them bear meat, but he left before either Attendants could see him with their own eyes. But now he's here for sure and he's here to see Souji. ]

[ He's still tired from how the past several days has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but he looks significantly better today. ]
