The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.
Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.
The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.
β VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS
The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.
The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Aug 25 - Minato
[But eventually they return to one of the doors they've found to the Velvet Room, a stack of three books under their arm. It's not much, but they don't have a lot to spare here.]
[They head to where they found Minato sleeping the first time, and if he's not there, then they will continue wandering the Velvet Train.]
Minato? Are you here?
no subject
If he was asleep, it doesn't matter anymore, because he lifts a handβ awkwardly, from how he's curled up on his side facing inward- and waves his hand in the air. He doesn't get up. ]
no subject
I have your books.
no subject
Cool. Thanks. It was getting kinda boring around here.
no subject
[Enkidu takes the books into their hands properly, and hands them over to Minato.]
Sorry, there's not that many. I don't have a lot of money right now, and I couldn't bake you tablets.
no subject
[ Minato sets the books down on his lip, which threaten to fall anyways when he shifts to dig his hand though his pants pocket and pull out some cash, holding his hand out to Enkidu to take the reimbursement. It is exactly the cost of all the books. On hindsight, he should have given Enkidu the money first, instead of forcing him to get a job and make enough money. ]
How does baking tablets work? Like a rock you carve stuff into?
no subject
Don't worry about that. I agreed to get them.
[His question is not unfair; most modern people don't use clay tablets to document their writings. Enkidu feels a little bad about not making it themselves, and buying something from a store when Minato trusted them with this important mission. But they're not that good at making up stories, so whatever they wrote on the tablets would be... boring, they're sure. Not entertaining to Minato at all. Other people are much more trustworthy to come up with fun tales.]
It's clay. You carve markings into the clay with a stylus, and then either leave it to dry or fire it to make sure it hardens.
...If you'd rather have that, I can go out and try to make you some. I don't have access to that kind of heat, but if you kept them warm, they would last.
no subject
That sounds cool. I can provide fire, that's no problem. But you and clay?
[ Is that a problem? Either knowing where to get clay, or... Minato's not entirely sure, even if they're made of it, if that's something he can just grow or make. ]
no subject
[It's best to set boundaries early.]
I could go out and find clay in nature. I just thought you would enjoy normal books, since I assume you're more used to them, and the stories would be better.
...Do you want me to make you some tablets?
no subject
I've never seen a clay tablet before, so that's a lot more interesting than a book. If you make one, can I watch?
no subject
[The faintest hint of excitement creeps into that statement. It's been so long since they made real tablets.]
I can even show you how to do it yourself.
no subject
Yeah, I'd really like that. I can write whatever I want on it? Or draw or whatever?
[ If it's clay and you bake it to make it permanent, Minato is going to use this power for evil and immortalize all sorts of terrible things. ]
no subject
[They remain either oblivious or uncaring to Minato's nefarious intent.]
Do you want to do it today? We can go back out.
no subject
If you have nothing else to do, then yeah. But if you're busy, we can do it some other time. I'm always free.
no subject
[Enkidu shrugs lightly and smiles, turning back towards the direction of the exit.]
I don't have Presence Detection so we'll have to find clay the old fashioned way, but I'm sure it's out there.
no subject
And that's digging through the riverbanks, or what? Let's head out now. I'll follow your lead.
no subject
[So having Minato ask them to show him simple tasks is nice.]
That's right. Digging through the riverbanks. Come on.
[They turn around and walk straight to the exit of the Velvet Room, assuming Minato will follow. If he doesn't, that's his prerogative.]
no subject
Unless Enkidu strikes up a conversation, it'll be a boring walk to the river, with Minato content to stay silent while making sure Enkidu is in his periphery at all times. ]
no subject
The easiest way to find it is by looking for changes in colour.
[It's so weird to explain this to someone. Enkidu's used to it just being... common knowledge.]
If something looks different than the dirt around it, touch it; it's usually softer or slipperier than the dirt around it.
no subject
The water is very clear, flowing at a languid pace although Minato knows it'll pick up further downstream. That makes it easy to look the change in color Enkidu's talking about, but rather than just looking with his eyes, Minato sticks both hands into the water, enjoying the feeling of cool water flowing over the top of his hands as he drags them against the current along the dirt at the sides of the river, needing to feel the difference between clay and dirt to really know. ]
How much do we need? I don't think I need a tablet any larger than the size of my hand.
