The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ and then, just like that, he takes his arm off his eyes so he can stare right at minato with an unreadable face. ]

[ Minato meets his eyes and his gaze doesn't waver, even as his mind turns about the idea of pinning this all on Terry, since that guy's in the kitchen more than Minato ever is, and Minato's the one who lives here. ]

[ In the end, it's not that he doesn't like lying that prompts the admission, but just the fact that lying always snowballs into something bigger and trying to rein that all in sounds exhausting. ]

Rei and I made it. With love. [ he adds, as if that makes anything better, as if he's not dragging Rei under the bus with him ] Did you not like it?

[ so it was minato's creation after all. hm... souji continues to look at him. the "with love" comment might have gotten him at any other point, but the pain that continues to prod his stomach reminds him to stay on track and not stray. ]

[ Just in case that's what Souji is accusing him of. It's perfectly good food. Everything is fresh. ]

[ that's not the angle that souji was going for. in fact, he's going for something completely different. ]

I just ate two hundred burgers the other day, so I'm kinda full still...

[ Which only gives Souji more of a reason not to cook for him, but Minato thinks he can hold out if it means not eating this. ]

Besides, I only open the fridge to clean or to cook. You know that I don't eat.

[ Yeah... he can't deny that he just sort of inhales each meal as if it were his last, but he doesn't... want this one... Maybe when Rei leaves, he can send it off with her as a housewarming gift, she seemed happy enough about it. ]

How come you don't eat more often? It's...

[ Tasty? fun? fulfilling? like trying to fill up some sort of void that you don't know how to fill any other way, so you substitute with your stomach and still it doesn't go away, not entirely. ]

It's like eating cheese puffs. Where it's crunchy on the outside but then it melts in your mouth and becomes just air. And you can eat a lot 'cause it does nothing, being mostly air. But it also somehow cuts up the roof of your mouth if you eat too much or too fast...

[ There's a point he's trying to make and maybe it's that food is great but he's not sure he hit the mark. ]

Mm, I don't mind trying something new.

[ he turns back his head back towards the ceiling, trying to put into words what doesn't really interest him about eating. it's not that he minds it, but at the same time... ]

I'm not really interested if it's my own cooking.

[ they have a lot of base ingredients but he's not really interested in eating that as well. he wants to try cooked meals but not any of his owns. that's why he was pretty satisifed eating terry's. ]

...Is it like how people can't tickle themselves?

[ Because you know it's coming, you know what goes into it, and that takes away some of the magic even if it's a new recipe or whatever. ]

Something like that. I don't mind cooking for you, but if I cook for myself, I lose interest.

[ it's a strange feeling. he doesn't really know how to properly describe it but it doesn't bother him that much. it's not like eating gives him that much pleasure so he's upset that he can't cook for himself. ]

Maybe because I know you'd enjoy the meal.

[ Yeah, it's hard for Minato to understand, because there's not much he can offer Souji besides company, and Minato tends to enjoy things he does for himself- mostly naps, hot baths, ...more naps.

It's confusing, and he goes back to tapping that beat on Souji's arm where he can reach. ]

'course I'd enjoy it, since you put in the time and effort... I can always find something I like about anything.

[ At least how he is now, there's very little that upsets Minato, even if he moans and bitches a lot. He likes people (sort of), he likes food regardless of what it is, and he like Souji. Things are simple. ]
