The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Okay... Sure. Minato sits down on the stool as directed, but then holds his arms out to either side of him because the T-pose really is the best way to rinse and dry off. ]

[overstrain]

[ He adjusts the showerhead to medium strength and quick Minato a quick rinse. When he's done, he rinses himself off too, puts the showerhead back and walks over to the bath and just sinks in.

Blub blub...

ahhhh it feels so nice.

He totally ignored the initial hot temperature of the water too. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato switches to a fire resistant Persona before lowering himself into the water, pulling his head under the surface first thing so that he's completely submerged before coming back up. It's pretty empty in here, though, so... he'll just stretch out and dead man's float on the water. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry opens his eyes and he sees Minato floating like that. He's pretty sure Minato's not dead, so he'll slowly and carefully turn Minato over so that he can breathe and not facing the water. Not that the steam helps anyway. ]

Don't drown, Minato... We need you alive.

[compendiem]

No you don't...

[ Does Minato even need to breathe? I don't know. But being turned over and facing up means his face is cold now, worse with the way his face is flushed from being submerged in hot water, so he lets himself sink enough so that he can sit and let the water cover everything up to his ears. ]

[overstrain]

Yeah, I do. Souji does too. So don't drown.

[ He'll keep an eye on Minato though, but it's hard from how relaxing the bath is. ]

[compendiem]

I won't drown. I don't die that easily. I've already—

[ whatever, his words get lost as he slouches far enough to have his mouth submerged and nothing comes out but a couple of garbled words. His nose is still above water, he's fine, a bath is for sleeping and not talking, so maybe he'll feel up to it later.

It's nice. He could stay like this for the next few hours, and it's nice. ]

[overstrain]

[ Already what? Died? Made a demon contract to buy immortality? The possibilities are endless, but Terry shuts up, since he figures Minato is in one of those modes where he's not fit for conversation at the moment. That's fine... a bath is supposed to be relaxing, after all. Terry sits near Minato and looks at his own childlike body.

He's having some deep thoughts by himself. ]

[compendiem]

[ The answer is yes, and unless Terry wakes him up earlier, Minato's not going to wake up on his own accord until nightfall. ]

[overstrain]

[ An hour or so passes and Terry pinpoints the time. He had enough relaxation in the bath for now and he goes to lightly shake Minato by the shoulder. ]

Minato, come on. We need to get out of the bath. I bet your fingers are all pruney.

[compendiem]

[ Minato mumbles something, but instead of opening his eyes or waking up, he just lifts his hand out of the water and tries to smoosh it against Terry's face even if he's just blindly reaching. His fingers are all pruney. ]

[overstrain]

[ Minato... Terry sighs and just picks him up over his shoulder. Wow. Minato is soft...

...

Anyway.

He seats Minato on the bath stool again and rinses him off with warm water, does the same for him too, and picks him up again to carry him out of the bath so that they can get bathrobes. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato is soft and the hot water has turned him into a boneless ragdoll cat, content to sit and let Terry position him and spray him off and everything, but he at least has the courtesy to walk once they're in robes. ]

Mm... That was nice. I don't think I'll come here ever again.

[overstrain]

But you just said it was nice. Did you want to keep the memory as it is?

[ Since he likes new things and all. They're now going to the sauna. ]

[compendiem]

Sort of... It was nice but if I went on my own, I would never leave. And that's no good.

[ It's not as if people need him when they have Souji, though. People could just visit the bathhouse instead of the train when they want to talk to Minato, and it could work out. ]

I can't just lie around forever, so a day out like this is nice.

[overstrain]

That makes sense.

[ He imagines Minato just staying in the forever hot bath for an entire day. Sounds like a health hazard. Anyway, Terry will lead Minato to the sauna and seat him down on the bench and sits next to him. ]

Tell me if you think you can't handle it anymore, or you might pass out...

[compendiem]

Oh. Uh... I was going to pass out right after sitting. That was the plan, anyways.

[ How else do people relax aside from passing out and giving themselves to sweet oblivion? ]

[overstrain]

You're going to suffocate in your sleep...

[ Minato worries him sometimes by how passive he seems to be. ]

I guess I can carry you to the spa after we're done here... though touching you might hurt after some time in the sauna.

[compendiem]

I won't die that easily...

[ Minato waves him off, because look at him. He's somehow survived 345938476094 years, hasn't he? ]

This is supposed to be a place where you're calm and relaxed, right? So you don't have to worry about hauling me around and keeping me alive.

[overstrain]

[ At this point, Terry has resigned that Minato will be sleeping throughout most of his time here. Well, it's not like he has anything important to say anyway...

There's a small flicker of light in his eyes. ]

Okay. Go to sleep then...

[ Forever. ]

[compendiem]

[ Hm.

But, basically, yeah. Minato pats Terry's knee before settling back. ]

Okay. Thanks for taking me out today.

[ But he's not going to come back, because being relaxed is the opposite of what he needs. Given the chance, he would sleep and sleep and sleep, and still feel exhausted at the end of it. He knows this isn't the right way to deal with it; it's just the easy way. ]

[overstrain]

[ The person that sits beside Minato smiles warmly just as he's always done, always has, and always will. He leaves him alone to rest and Terry eventually carries Minato out of the sauna after an hour after snapping out of it to place him on a spa chair, in which he instructs the employees to give him a manipedi, so if Minato feels something weird on his hands and feet, that's the thing.

Relaxing as it should be. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato jolts awake when he feels something cold touch his toes and he reflexively kicks out, opening his eyes to the feeling of his foot meeting something hard, the sound of teeth clacking as a jaw snaps shut, and the sight of a spa employee lying on the ground with a bottle of clear nail polish splattered over his shirt and pooling on the ground next to his face. ]

Uh... Sorry...

[ Minato gets up onto his feet and tilts the worker's head so he's facing up and won't accidentally get high off polish fumes, and then looks around for Terrence.

Are you around...? Because either way, Minato's making an escape portal out of the door to the room and he's going to retreat. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry's still a light sleeper, even as a kid, so he easily wakes and hears the commotion in the next room over. When he's done, he goes over to look and then he sighs. Minato... why do you do this...

Terry goes to the locker, changes into his fresh clothes, and since he doesn't have the ability to lockpick nor the patience right now, he breaks Minato's locker open quite easily and takes his clothes.

...

He thinks about giving them back to Minato, but he's tired, so he's gonna go home, taking the clothes with him. lol

and that ends the day of Minato's hot spring(?) episode... ]
