The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.
Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.
The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.
→ VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS
The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.
The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

God, Souji... what am I gonna do? I don't want to leave anyone behind anymore, but it feels like that's all I can ever do now... It's so unfair...
[ He puts his head down on the counter. ]
no subject
What do you mean?
[ give him a bit more context, terry. his brain isn't working as fast as he wants it right now. ]
no subject
But Terry sighs. ]
When my Shadow comes, I'll probably die. Looking at the way Sasuke's Shadow encounter went, I... couldn't help but wonder... I don't think I could do it, if I was in his place. It's pretty much confirmed for me, isn't it? From all the stuff we talked about before to me seeing those black wisps around Vassago's feet back in July, and how he only listens to me half the time when it's not a command relating to killing something. I even had to kick my Persona away from Sasuke's Shadow so that it didn't kill Sasuke.

What are you struggling with accepting? It's not easy to accept yourself, but you don't think you can ever do it?
[ he's slow with his words as he tries to work with his brain going at the pace of a snail. ]
no subject
I can accept myself, me, just fine. It's just that... the thing Vassago's supposed to represent--it was never me. It was never supposed to be me. I can understand if Shadows form and stuff because of darkness in hearts or whatever, but this isn't even a darkness. It's just a thorn at my side that keeps opening up whatever wound I have every time I move.
[ He downs another glass of water, ice and all. ]
If someone forced you to be like someone else, you'd reject it too, wouldn't you? Just imagine that whatever's forced into you is now causing all these problems.

[ souji now suddenly regrets drinking all those cocktails if this is the type of conversation that they're going to have. he wants to give something helpful, say something other than "wow, that's rough, buddy", but the alcohol is already flowing through him and part of his mind is focused on trying to keep his nausea down. ]
[ he picks up another glass of water and sips on it, giving himself an excuse to take a few more seconds to think of a reply. ]
Rather than seeing it as accepting whatever Vassago is supposed to represent as your identity, could you see it as accepting that there are these expectations placed on you and that you can't meet them? So you're not necessarily rejecting it, but acknowledging it?
[ he doesn't even know if he's making sense. he's trying his best right now when he feels like just placing his head on the counter. ]
no subject
Mm... Will that actually work, even if I know the truth behind it? It sounds like half-assing it from my point of view. Probably because I ran away from those expectations, but...
[ He sighs. ]
It's a hundred times easier to accept that rather than what Vassago's supposed to be. You're right. I think I get it.
no subject
It'd be a start. Nothing is an immediate fix.
[ pet pet. ]
Half-assing it is better than whole-assing it, right?
no subject
Thanks, Souji. I admit defeat this time. You win... I feel really fucking drunk right now, but you know what? Reassurance like that feels nice. I'll take it. I'll be right back.
[ He slides himself off the bar stool and makes his way to the bathroom in the back of the bar. It doesn't take long, but he's still stumbling here and there, but careful not to knock over anything. ]
Okay, I'm ready. Let's go back before we black out on getting absolutely wasted.
[ At least he somewhat has reasoning... somewhere in that brain of his. ]
no subject
I'll walk you to your place. That way I know that you didn't pass out on the streets.
[ he gets up from the bar and he pulls out a wallet. of course, there's no id or any kind of cards inside, but just bills. he sets quite a few of them on the counter. they did drink a lot, but also a relatively nice tip for the bartender as an apology for putting up with these two drunks. he then places the wallet back into his pocket and faces terry once more. ]
I'd feel responsible if you got mugged.
no subject
[ Yeah, that sure was a thing...
But he didn't drink like six bohemian absinthe cocktails on that day, and he just kinda clings onto Souji's arm while walking. lmao. So much for being fine. ]
no subject
Bar fights, Terrence? I didn't take you to be such a tough bad boy.
no subject
[ Terry grumbles, but doesn't seem to think much of it. The slow steps really help, even if Terry's clinging onto his arm like an overly attached significant other, but does that bother him right now? No, not really. ]
no subject
Yeah, I don't think good little boys come out to bars and drink six cocktails in one sitting.
[ and then drink some more the next day. what is wrong with you, terry... ]
If you want to close your eyes, that's all right. I'll lead the way.
no subject
[ And that's totally what Souji should do anyway. ]
Even with your overpowered Personas and whatever.
no subject
What is she going to do, stab me?
[ quote from man stabbed ]
no subject
[ Hehehe... Nevertheless, Terry looks like he's proud of Kido for it anyway.
He's weirdly doting... ]
no subject
[ he'd honestly just go back to the train with the knife stuck in him. it's his now. ]
no subject
[ Terry nearly stumbled, closes his eyes, and clings onto Souji even closer because he'll fall over otherwise. ]
Mm... let's do this again some time, but with a weaker drink... getting drunk so quickly isn't worth the enjoyment when it's better to have it last longer...
no subject
Yeah.
[ he sways a bit in-place but after a few breaths of regaining his confidence to walk, he takes a few steps forward again but slower and more focused. he doesn't want to fall, he doesn't want to fall (he's going to fall soon). ]
I won the bet, but I'll still give you ten free heals if you do something for me.
no subject
[ Terry tries to be steady on his feet to help Souji. ]
no subject
[ he's keeping his eyes on the ground to make sure that he's taking his steps properly and that he doesn't trip over something like a cat. ]
I'll give you the ten heals on top of his reward.
no subject
[ He didn't get a good look at the board and he only knew about taking Souji out from Minato, so... ]
no subject
no subject
Okay, I think... I can do that. Maybe.
[ If it doesn't work, then he's fucked. Well, anyway, his home is here. Terry gestures that it is. ]
This is my house. Can't believe I had to tell you after all... Thanks for walking me here.
