The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Mm, I suppose the silence is more boring. You'd have to ask Minato why he wants to keep the music playing.

[ it probably doesn't even register that much anymore. you learn how to tune it out automatically after a number of years. ]

He gets defensive if I try to change his music.

That's why you should buy a music player. Then you can listen to your own stuff, without bothering anybody else.

[ This feels like the logical answer anybody would come up with, so she's not sure why they insist on having a ...radio or whatever it is playing in the train. Kido digs into her jacket pocket and finds her own mp3 player and earbuds, untangling the cord before handing it over to Souji. ]

With this, it's easier to carry around, and you can play it as loud as you want in your head, without anybody else hearing.

[ he takes the mp3 player and rolls it around in his hands, examining it. he can see the appeal in it. it's light and very portable. ]

You need a computer to put songs onto it, right?

[ not something that they have in the velvet room, but he figures that the library or schools here would have them. ]

If I get one, would you help me with it?

[reveilation]

...Wow, you're like a grandpa.

[ With the hair and the technological ineptitude. ]

But sure, I can help you out. I'll show you how to do it once, and then you'll know for the future.

Could you do it for me every time I want something new?

[ find the kindness in your heart, kido. ]

[reveilation]

No. Weren't you listening? I'm only going to do it one time.

[ That one time is the kindness of her heart ]

This way, you'll be able to learn something new, and you don't have to wait or depend on me every time you need something.

I suppose, but someone's going to have to take me out of the Velvet Room every now and then for that.

[ he could go on his own butttttt that's not fun. ]

[reveilation]

I'm not always going to be in the Velvet Room, Souji... If you can manage to leave the train to get to my front door, you can manage to leave the train to find and operate a computer. You can do it. I believe in you.

[ She takes back what she thought about Souji being a grandpa; he's more like a toddler on the first day of kindergarten, who can go out and do things himself but still wants to cling onto somebody familiar. ]

[tarotcards]

[ that's a very accurate description of souji. he's absolutely a toddler. he even puts on his sad baby voice. ]

But I'll be so lonely... and the world outside is so scary...

[reveilation]

...Yeah, but once you meet more people, it'll be less lonely, and the world becomes less scary. It doesn't have to be me— there are lots of other people who would help, if you ask.

Mm, can you give me any recommendations? Who should I turn to for help?

[ so then when souji bothers them about putting songs on the mp3 for him, he can just say "kido volunteered you, don't turn her into a liar by not helping". ]

[ Terry's from the future, so he should know computers, right? She had also shoved Sasuke at him about phones, and he's somebody who most likely would help if asked, unlike her second choice which would have been Neku because he's always walking around with headphones and would know this stuff too. ]

[tarotcards]

[ he lets out a small amused breath. ]

I'll be sure to bother him some more.

[ he'll hold back kido's mp3 player, now that he's done fiddling around with it. his hand goes back on his waist. ]

Do you want anything here? If you don't want your free meal, you can replace it for whatever's in the store.

[reveilation]

Good. Look after him.

[ Unlike Minato who destroyed his stomach with hot sauce and then went skydiving with him. ]

But no, I don't really want anything here. I feel bad even taking the money and the food. You really don't have to bribe people to hang out with you, you know? It's sad.

[tarotcards]

[ he tilts his head a bit to the side and looks at kido. ]

Do you see it as bribing?

[reveilation]

If there's a gift or money involved, it's bribing.

[ The very definition of bribing. It just comes off as sad, because she doesn't believe people are as desperate for money as Souji is for friends. ]

[tarotcards]

[ he supposes he can't quite argue against that. ]

Mm, so, you wouldn't view it as compensation? Acting as a tour guide takes up time and energy.

[reveilation]

Not really... This isn't being a tour guide, anyways. Hanging out with people doesn't require any of that, so it's just comes off as weird. It's not like I can give much advice about friendship, but... the "compensation" is nothing more than enjoying the time together. That's how it's supposed to be.
