The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Get ready for more disappointment, because the Velvet Room is a train with many smaller rooms, and there is very little velvet to be found. Most of it is found on the curtains in front of the curtains lining the wall.

But ugh— It takes Minato just one poke to scrunch up his nose in protest to the poking, but four or five of them before he cracks open an eye to stare at Toki, not bothering to get up afterwards either. ]

What do you want, Tokidoki?

[yokeye]

Why does everyone already know my name!?

[He's already freaking out again, any attempt at coherency gone as he tries to state what he wants.]

Why do food can labels repel magic!?

[No. Not what he wanted to say, but that's what came out.]

Uh. I know your name because of... magic... I guess. And food can labels repels can repel magic 'cause of magic, too.

[ "Magic" is such a convenient words that explains everything and also nothing at all. ]

Souji's the one who altered the food can labels, but... Anyways. He's the other Attendant. I'm Minato. And there's a girl named Itsuki.

[ Who isn't a real Attendant, but she has one of Minato's uniform sets that she wears around sometimes, so she might as well be an Attendant. ]

[yokeye]

[He's starting to despise the word "magic".]

Well, it's nice to meet you, Minato~! Now, can you do something for me with your magic~? Okay, like, Terry said sometimes people get their uhh, previous magic powers or whatever back after they're gone when they first get here and I never want mine back! Is that a thing, with out without this Souji's magic can labels?

[compendiem]

[ Yeah, it's a cop-out answer and Minato knows this. That's why he uses it so much.

He waits patiently for Toki to finish/take a breath, but then nods his head. ]

This place nullifies that sort of thing. If you can stand being on this train for the rest of your life, you won't ever get your magic back.

[ But it's also a cramped train, and this is the music that's going to be playing 24/7. ]

[yokeye]

[Well, shit. He's already annoyed with the music. The idea of spending the rest of his life in this place is horrifying. It must be why Minato's eyes look so empty and dead.]

You know what? I'm gonna have to think about this... I'll just- just come back later?

[compendiem]

[ The music does a really good job of driving people away, because the Velvet Room was never supposed to be a hotel in the first place, but it's also driving Minato crazy and next month he's probably going to change it back to rock or something, for his own sanity.

But it's happy pop music today, and happy pop for the rest of the week. ]

Uh. Yeah, take your time. Door's always open and—

[ ... ]

Did you come all the way to the castle for this? You don't have to come out here every time.

[yokeye]

Well, yeah. This is where the portal is...

[Did Terry bring him all the way out to the castle ruins for no reason? He did get to ride a dragon and that was cool, but...]

[compendiem]

[ The dragon ride was supposed to make up for Toki having to deal with Minato, probably, because he just sort of looks to the ground like he's trying to decide whether explaining stuff is too much of a hassle or not. ]

Yeah.

[ is what he eventually comes up with, after a couple of seconds. ]

The portal here is always open, but I can open it up other places too. Where do you hang out?

[yokeye]

I... don't know? I've been staying at the school, I guess, but I like wander around everywhere~!

[He's lying. He just gets lost frequently, everything feeling unfamiliar suddenly and he doesn't know how he got there. It's fine.]

[compendiem]

[ Minato can't tell if he's lying but he can tell Toki that it's a bad idea to be wandering around everywhere. Normally, he'd encourage it, but not while it's pouring like this. ]

Well... if it's the school, I can have the portal be up on the rooftop. The only people who'll be able to see it is people with Personas, so you don't have to worry about other students.

[yokeye]

Great! That will be much easier to get to!

[During the day anyway, when it's not a hellhole.]

[compendiem]

I'll set that up then. Should I send you there now, or just kick you back out into the castle?

[ He can make that portal in Toki's room lead to anywhere, even off the side of the mountain if he really really wanted to. Toki's right for having some skepticism about all of this. ]

[yokeye]

[He doesn't want to make the trek back from the castle yet again, and he's not sure Terry waited.]

The school's fine!

[ Minato nods, and... apparently that's it, because he closes his eyes again and expects Toki to leave through the same door he came in from, inside his designated room in the train. It leads outside to the school rooftop, which thankfully is a flat roof with guard rails already installed around the perimeter of it, so it's much harder to slip and fall off it. It's also pouring buckets out there, but Toki probably expected that.

The Velvet Room is there whenever he needs warmth and shelter and whatever, but that music is never getting shut off. ]

[Toki eventually figures out he's supposed to leave the way he came in, even if it's going somewhere else now. Exiting the portal on the roof, he does appreciate it's flat. When it stops raining, if it stops raining, the school roof will be a good place to hang out. Even in the rain, it's fine, and he'll sit up there for a while by himself before heading inside.]
