The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

... Huh? They're connected? I seriously thought it was some magical contagious disease for the blind thing and me being stressed or something. Maybe I developed insomnia? I dunno...

[ At least he's awake enough to cut the vegetables without cutting his finger off. ]

[ he shrugs. he's noticing that there's something strange happening among everyone, but he doesn't have any concrete evidence so he'll just keep this in mind instead. ]

Have you been doing anything to treat your insomnia?

[overstrain]

I tried some light aromatherapy and cat purring ASMR, but neither of them worked. I didn't even feel close to sleeping.

[ Despite that, he yawns and puts the cut up carrots and onion circles into the air fryer. In you go, vegetables. Come back outside as nice crispy snacks after some time. ]

I'll make you some tea again.

[ he'll move to open the cabinet to get out the box of tea that he personally organized and start putting water into a kettle to boil. ]

Drink it as you eat. At the very least, it should keep you relaxed.

[overstrain]

[ He sighs and leans against the counter. ]

I was actually making these for Rei. I didn't think she moved in here...

Mm, yeah. I overheard that she's planning to stay here until she moves in somewhere, but I didn't catch the details. Minato would know more.

[ since minato was the one who was speaking with her. he was off cleaning or whatnot. ]

There was also something about a haunted inn.

[overstrain]

... I guess she finally got scared of the haunted inn.

[ Terry still hasn't had the experience of sleeping there, since he's banned from going there anyway, so he can only imagine what it's like, but from what had been happening lately, he can't exactly rule out things that can happen out of nowhere. ]

I guess I'll ask him later if I remember. I think my memory has been getting a little spottier than usual too.

[ That's honestly no surprise for anyone who's seen his medical history in Hirajiro alone with all those head injuries, tremendous blood loss, stress, and now not being able to sleep at all. ]

You should get that checked out.

[ go back to the hospital where you belong, terry. souji will turn to go back to leaning against the counter after he sets the kettle and gets two mugs already ready. ]

If you forget and that concerned, I'll ask Minato for you.

[overstrain]

It'd be nice if Personas can cure that stuff too...

[ He sighs and glances over at the air fryer. There's still some time to go before it's finished, so he looks back at the kettle. ]

Even if they're all these cool magical beings from the... [ soul?? ] ... self and stuff, they can't be the end-all solution.

[tarotcards]

[ he lets out a small smile. ]

There's a limit to everything, especially Personas.

[ don't worry, souji is keeping an eye on the kettle. it's starting to heat up but it'll be a little more time before it starts to steam. ]

Take care of your body, Terrence. You may not die like everyone else, but you can still feel pain and get hurt like everyone else. I won't want any of my guests to end up permanently incapacitated.

[overstrain]

I know.

[ There's a small smile on his face, maybe a little wistful. ]

It's nothing new. It's what I was made for anyway... I'd rather I get hurt and suffer temporarily than have someone I love die permanently. I'll always get back up again, but it can't be said for everyone else.

[ His gaze is out of the kitchen--he's probably looking in Rei's direction. ]

[tarotcards]

[ he follows terry's gaze out of the kitchen. it's obvious enough to know why he's looking out there. he just smiles gently. ]

I'm glad to hear that. It's important to make bonds and to find people to care for.

[ he's happy. he's glad to see his guests forming such friendships with each other and finding people to protect, love, and care about. it's heartwarming and it reinforces why he thinks people, in general, are amazing. ]

Minato allowed her to stay the night so she'll be safe until she needs to leave.

[overstrain]

[ Terry breathes out a sigh of relief that he didn't know he was holding. As long as they keep her safe in all sorts of levels--physically and mentally--Terry would be fine with Rei living here for the time being.

But he has to wonder... ]

[ he lets out an amused breath and pushes himself off the counter. the kettle is starting to scream, so he'll turn off the heat and start pouring the hot water in the mugs. ]

Very obvious.

[ he puts the kettle back down on the stove and slides over terry's mug over to him on the counter. it's hot so he doesn't suggest picking it up right now. ]

Be careful or someone might call you a siscon.

[overstrain]

[ He stares at the steam rising from the cup before looking over at Souji. They're not really dead eyes, but it's pretty close. ]

If it'll keep her safe, they can call me whatever they want.

[ :T!!

Though he's not mad. ]

Mm, it doesn't bother you?

[ terry has thicker skin than he thought. ]

[overstrain]

I mean... just being called that doesn't bother me.

[ He tries to shrug it off. ]

... it's also new for me--to feel like I have anything resembling a family.

[tarotcards]

[ oh? ]

Not much of a family life back home?

[overstrain]

Well, it's more that I didn't have one.

[ He says it simply like a fact. Terry looks down at the cup and holds it by the handle, blowing on the water's surface a little for it to help cool down. ]

I was made, not born. So it's not like I had a family waiting for me at the moment I existed. Meatshields don't get to have family, even if they're failures.

[ Maybe it's self-depreciating. Maybe it's a fact. Maybe it's both. ]

I lived with a friend, but he never felt like a family to me, even if he's the closest one to me.

[tarotcards]

[ ahh, so he sees. he takes notice of the self-deprecating comment but he doesn't say anything about it. he just takes a sip from his tea. ]

And, in your opinion. what separates someone as either a friend or family?

[overstrain]

What does...

[ Hm. Terry tries to think about this, but he's running on absolutely no sleep and fatigue, so he doesn't get very far. That's what he thinks anyway, but it's really the Wishing Well back home that bad him think that way, that Jace was only a friend and couldn't be family.

Shit sucks, man. ]

I can't really think of a reason why... Just... instincts? I guess.

[tarotcards]

Mm... instincts are good.

[ he takes another sip, looking thoughtful for a second before he speaks up again. ]

Take good care of her, Terrence. Being an older brother is a full-time job so try not to slack off.

[overstrain]

I'll never... we're planning on living together in the future too, so I'll do my best.

[ Huh. It's as if... ]

[ he lowers his mug for a bit as he stares down at the ground, thinking. ]

Hmm... maybe. I don't remember anything specific about family, but-- [ he then raises his mug again, giving a small smile. ] --I suppose something about big brothers seem familiar to me.

[ he takes another sip. ]

[overstrain]

[ Ooooh. Terry brightens up at that despite being tired. ]

Only a little? I didn't think getting memories back would be so easy!
