The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ God, Minato's so stupid, he should've just cooked enough to make one bowl and leave the rest of the raw ingredients up for Souji to do a better job with, but now they're stuck with enough food to feed fifty people.

He scoots over a little so Souji can watch bread being re-baked until it's dry and crunchy and hard enough to tear up the roof of your mouth. ]

Yeah, I think the breading came out okay.

[ He can't really tell, through the tinted glass door, so he opens the oven just enough to stick his arm inside and poke at one of the pieces of bread. There's a little give, but the outside has crisped up nicely. ]

You don't have to finish it all if you don't want to. [ Because he did expect Souji to eat a hundred pounds of meat all by himself. ] The meat should be okay for your cats, so they'll be fed while we're out camping.

[ please be careful with sticking your hand in the oven, minato... it's still hot wtf. souji just watches him carefully like ]

Mm, did you leave this to the last minute right before our camping trip so I would make things for the picnic or was this truly out of the kindness of your heart?

...Does it have to be one or the other?

[ It can be both... But Minato gets his arm out unhurt and waves for Souji to stand back so he can grab a towel to pull out the tray. ]

I only got the pig today. If I left it in Terrence's room while we're gone, I'm kinda worried he'd eat it by the time we get back. So it had to be now.

I see.

[ souji will stand back up and take a few steps back. he'll start making his own bowl once everything is done and then they can do it together. ]

Well, consider my heart touched. Everything looks good, Minato.

[ Hell yeah, Minato straightens up to set the tray onto the counter, standing a bit taller than he normally would without the slouch. Souji saying that to him is good, and he'll hold onto it regardless of if Souji's opinion changes after tasting the plain rice, unseasoned meat, and regular toast.

Instead of picking up a bowl for himself, Minato just sits up on the counter, holds a plate of boar meat in his lap and eats the meat with his fingers, watching Souji expectantly. ]

[ with everything set and ready, souji will fill up his bowl with a little bit of rice, a rack of meat, and a single piece of toast (but nothing of the stirfry, fuck you). he's not a big eater so this should be enough to keep him content so with all that in his bowl, he leans against the counter, next to minato. he starts with the meat, picking at it with his chopsticks until they're small enough pieces that he can pick up and eat. maybe it'd be easier to eat with his hands, but he's insistent on the chopsticks. he finishes it silently and then moves onto the plain rice. just like the meat, he eats it quietly and, like a normal person, eats the toast with his hand at the end. throughout the entire meal, he doesn't make a single sound, just looking thoughtful as he eats. he finishes and holds his bowl with both of his hands, looking over at minato. ]

... it's good. I liked it.

[ It's not like Minato ever makes a huge show of enjoying his food either, no lip smacking, no exclamations of "Mmm!" or "Yum!", no change at all in his expression when he crunches on the bread. The evidence that he enjoys his food is the fact that he always finishes what's given to him. So, Souji eating an entire bowl is that to him too, and being told that it's good and that he liked it is icing on the cake. ]

I'm glad.

[ It was a lot of work for what Souji claimed was the easiest thing to make and Minato never wants to do it again lmfao ]

But let's do it together next time. I'll kill something, and you figure out how to cook it.

[ he sets the bowl next to him on the counter and smiles. ]

But have some sympathy and keep your killings contained and on a tarp next time, please.

[ That's sympathy for Souji, who has to clean up after Minato's messes, isn't it? ]

They tend to run, but... Deal.

I trust in your ability to hold them down.

[ it is. he doesn't mind cleaning but he'd rather clean things like dishes or laundry or cat fur and not blood-soaked rooms. ]

I shouldn't expect another homecooked meal from you though, should I?

Yeah, don't expect it.

[ He would leave it at that, but ]

That way, when I do feel like doing it, I get to surprise you.

I'll try to contain my excitement.

[ which is actually the truth. he would be pretty pleased to try out minato's cooking again, as long as it's not carolina reaper stir fry. ]

Are you going to need help finishing any of this?

[ at least with the meat, they can feed it to the cats like minato said. ]

[ He'll be so sad when he looks around the cupboards later and can't find the pretty death spice. ]

I could eat it. Or, if you could use it in another dish?

[ Why did he cook the entire boar... At least there's a normal amount of everything else, so it really is just the meat that they can leave out for the cats while they're out camping. ]

[ lmfao souji just dumps the entire spice down the drain. he doesn't like wasting food but this is fine this one time. ]

[ he looks over at all the meat and remembers how much rice they've had left in the rice cooker, thinking for a moment on various different combinations. ]

... yeah, I can do something with the leftovers. I think I should hold up my end of the bargain and go back to cooking.

[ Hell yeah, a request successfully completed. ]

I'm glad. I missed your cooking, Souji.

[ It's been a long week without food ]

[ aw, minato missed something. souji has that dumb teasing smile that he likes to put on when he's actually touched underneath but has to jokes around instead of saying "hey, that's nice to hear, thanks". ]

We'd better hope that I don't go on strike again, huh?

[ In the most monotone voice: ]

Yeah, how could you do that to me? I didn't deserve that.

[ souji leans over, pressing his shoulder against minato's. ]
