The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Terry hops off the footrest. ]

Let's go. Don't forget to bring a set of clothes.

'kay. Let me change into something more appropriate first. Just a sec.

[ He makes a great show of hauling himself onto his feet and trudging to his room, but he's back fairly quickly. Instead of his usual Attendant uniform, he's not wearing... the same uniform, but slightly bloody, like it couldn't be washed off well enough.

This one's more appropriate because it's going to get all sweaty and gross anyways. ]

... This is more appropriate?

[ Minato?? What have you been doing?? ]

[compendiem]

Yeah. Are you ready?

[ He's got his change of clothes in his arms too!! It's the uniform he was wearing before. His closet is 99% uniforms. ]

[overstrain]

I'll have to drop by my house first, but it's not that far, so it'll be quick. I'll meet you in front of the bathhouse then.

[ Little tykebomb zooming all across Hirajiro like it's no big deal. Vroom. By the time Minato gets out of the Velvet Room, Terry will already be there with his own change of clothes. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato doesn't know where this bathhouse is!! Terry!!!!!

He just stands there in front of the Velvet Room door in the castle, leaning back against the throne, looking down at the ground and waiting. ]

[overstrain]

[ omg Terry thought Minato would have known by how he threatened to block off the door before, so Terry's also waiting... but he's pretty impatient at times, so he zooms back all the way to the castle after five minutes and just finds Minato standing there. ]

Minato?? What's the hold up??

[compendiem]

[ The Attendants are full of bs and Minato doesn't look up until Terry speaks, and then looks back down again, mumbling something about the journey and not the destination.

And then a bit louder: ]

Legs are sore.

[ Camping sucks. ]

[overstrain]

Minato... You should have said so earlier.

[ Terry, even with his smaller size, effortlessly picks him up, holding him over his head and zooooms through the forest. It's a nice breeze, isn't it. ]

[compendiem]

[ It's a nice breeze and Minato can look up and it's almost like flying even though he's so close to the ground. Terry's like Souji, they both give in and unnecessarily spoil Minato, it's kind of nice. ]

You could put Mondo out of business like this.

[overstrain]

Huh? What does he do?

[ Despite how fast he's going, he weaves around the trees very well, even enough so that Minato doesn't get smacked by the stray branch along the way... He's probably done this a lot by now. ]

[compendiem]

Stuff.

[ Maybe try this conversation again later, because Minato sounds distracted by this speedrun through the forest. ]

[overstrain]

[ ... ... ...

Maybe he should just get used to Minato's everything at some point, but they eventually make it to the bathhouse. Maybe Minato no longer has the emo hairstyle because of all that wind earlier. ]

Here we are.

[ Terry lets Minato down on the ground. ]

Let's go in.

[compendiem]

[ Minato's hair has probably been pushed back to look like Ryoji's, and he has to comb his fingers through his hair to get it back up front, head bowed as he trails after Terry while he works the tangles out with his fingers. Feels weird having his face out in the open like this. ]

Right behind you...

[ Very close right behind him, right at the back of Terry's heels with his head ducked and doing a terrible job of hiding behind this kid. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry was about to question why Minato's trying to hide behind him, but. Right. His clothes are all bloody-ish. Terry goes to the counter, pays for them both and he leads Minato to the locker changing rooms and hands him the key to his locker. ]

You can stop hiding behind me now...

[compendiem]

[ Yeah, and he's also dressed head to toe in blue, a fashion disaster. He gives Terry a little space once they're in the changing room, but not a lot, just enough to shove his clean clothes into the locker and look over at Terry to see what the etiquette is, is it full on nudity, what are they doing here ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry paid for the public bath portion (there's a hot springs option if it exists in Hirajiro), sauna, and a spa, so they'll have something like modesty towels in the bath and something like a bathrobe for the remaining two. He looks over at Minato after he puts his own clean clothes into the locker. ]

... What? You need something from me?

[compendiem]

No, I'm just... following your lead. With the underwear, and stuff.

[ Turn around and do your thing, Terry. Don't mind him. ]

[overstrain]

You've really never been to a public bathhouse before? I thought these things were common in Japan or something...

[ He's a foreigner, so maybe he has an excuse. ]

Anyway, we're going to the baths first, so you just take off your clothes and keep the towel around your waist. That's all.

[compendiem]

[ Minato shrugs. ]

Lived in a train all my life.

[ He's never been to Japan, presumably. Or if he did, he doesn't remember. Regardless, he can't really see himself going to places like this if he were living in a place that had them, not because he's self-conscious but because there's lots of people in a small space, and after pulling his clothes off and wrapping the towel around his waist, he goes back to standing behind Terry until he's ready to go too.

[overstrain]

[ By the time Minato is done, Terry is also finished and leads him to where the baths are. It's pretty spacious and it doesn't look like anyone is inside for once. Terry is amazed by the turn of events. ]

Oh right. We need to rinse first and then we get in.

[ He walks over to the washing area and grabs a hold of the showerhead. ]

Sit on the stool.

[compendiem]

[ Okay... Sure. Minato sits down on the stool as directed, but then holds his arms out to either side of him because the T-pose really is the best way to rinse and dry off. ]

[overstrain]

[ He adjusts the showerhead to medium strength and quick Minato a quick rinse. When he's done, he rinses himself off too, puts the showerhead back and walks over to the bath and just sinks in.

Blub blub...

ahhhh it feels so nice.

He totally ignored the initial hot temperature of the water too. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato switches to a fire resistant Persona before lowering himself into the water, pulling his head under the surface first thing so that he's completely submerged before coming back up. It's pretty empty in here, though, so... he'll just stretch out and dead man's float on the water. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry opens his eyes and he sees Minato floating like that. He's pretty sure Minato's not dead, so he'll slowly and carefully turn Minato over so that he can breathe and not facing the water. Not that the steam helps anyway. ]

Don't drown, Minato... We need you alive.
