The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Terry stares at Souji wide-eyed when he orders two bohemian absinthes, because... damn, Souji. Here Terry is, trying to ease Souji into liquor and Souji just wants to go big already. Terry finds that pretty impressive nevertheless. ]

You sure about that? It's a really strong drink.

[tarotcards]

Well, you'll be helping me out, right? One's for you.

[ let's go big or go home. ]

[ Terry downs his cocktail fairly quickly. Looks like they're gonna suffer with 90% ABV cocktails very soon. He sighs contently. ]

I thought you'd like something in the middle like cognac or something.

[tarotcards]

I can always try it after I finish the absinthe.

[ souji's pretty much just going to experimenting with a bunch of different drinks tonight so he can see what he likes. ]

If I get too drunk to walk, you'd carry me back, right?

[overstrain]

Well, yeah? Of course. I'm not gonna leave you here when I'm the one who called you out here in the first place.

[ He's not that mean... anyway, their drinks arrive pretty quickly. It's a lot quicker than what Terry thought, so he looks over at the bartender, who just gives him a resigned look that all he'll make are absinthe cocktails as long as Terry is here. lol. ]

[ souji nods as a thanks towards the bartender and takes the drink. he's finished his other cocktail so he holds up the glass, lifting it a bit in terry's direction as a silent "cheers" before he takes a sip. afterwards, he takes a few seconds to figure out the taste and everything, but he lets out a small chuckle. ]

You're right, it's strong.

[ hmm, he wonders how many it'd take before he starts to feel lightheaded. ]

You must have a high tolerance.

[overstrain]

It used to be stronger! But I don't have my filter anymore...

[ Though he can still chug drinks and still be relatively sober. Kinda. Terry also lifted the glass a little as a silent "cheers" before downing his own. The bitter aftertaste and the way it burns his throat feels so nice. He's sometimes not sure why he likes it so much when he usually doesn't like bitter things. ]

Most people just drink one and they're out.

[ let's fucking find out. with that competitive glint in souji's eye, he turns his head towards the bartender. ]

Six more cocktails, please.

[ three for him and three for terry. he glances at terry from the corner of his eyes. are you ready to lose ]

[ Terry also has a competitive glint in his eye. He hasn't had the chance to feel like this ever since he came here. He is so excited for this drinking contest now, despite how this is a Bad Decision. ]

Hope I won't have to carry your drunk self back to the Velvet Room, being all conked out and shit.

I see that they don't teach respect to youngsters anymore. Stay seated, son, I'll show you what high tolerance is.

[ souji is absolutely getting into the character of a cocky older gentleman and he's absolutely having fun with it. he even puts on a slightly deeper voice as he says the previous lines before he takes his cocktail and finishes the rest of it. hm, that sure is a burn and his stomach is not happy with the sudden drop of alcohol that potent but if it bothers him, souji doesn't show it. the bartender (who has probably given up on making any other drink) drops down their six new cocktails. ]

If you ask for mercy, I won't show it.

You're the one that's gonna be begging for mercy, old man.

[ Terry is really enjoying the situation, and appreciates Souji's newfound cocky old gentleman character. It livens things up, that's for sure. ]

The first one who shows signs of being drunk loses. Mister Bartender will help out, right?

[ Keita, the bartender, just ignores Terry but he has no choice but to overlook two potential rowdy customers for the sake of the health of his business. ]

Let's go.

[ He downs one of his drinks as if it's water. The burning sensation that he's familiar with really settles in well. ]

[ the logical side of souji is telling him that this is a very bad idea and there's no way that this would end badly but the other part of souji, the yolo side, tells him to just go for it. he's an eternal(?) being. he's gotta go out and have fun and when was the last time that he has ever gotten into a competition like this before? this is really nice. he's enjoying himself and he's grateful that terry took him out. ]

[ he takes two of his three cocktails and immediately drinks them both which is... absolutely terrible. his stomach was already revolting at the first one but immediately two more? yeah, it's not pleased at all. he does take a second to compose himself and keep on a straight face. he silently switches over to nekogami for that null poison, but lmfao it can't null everything. ]

Where do you live, Terrence? I'll make sure that you get home safely so you don't have to make a fool out of yourself.

[ ... well, he hopes that terry isn't living outside anymore like a literal homeless person. ]

[ omg having nekogami is cheating LMAO Terry doesn't realize that though, since his information on Nekogami is quite outdated... Anyway, he's pretty surprised when Souji chugs two at once. That's some real big yolo energy, what the fuck. Terry is really, really impressed. He nearly scoffs at Souji's question. ]

Some 4-bedroom house. You won't have to know because that'll never happen.

[ Uh-huh. Terry just downs another cocktail. He has one more left. ]

Mister Bartender, I think we'll need two more.

[ what terry doesn't know won't hurt him! plus, it's just using your strengths to your advantage and souji's strength is that he can use whatever persona he wants. it'd help him in the beginning stages of this drinking contest but there's only so much a persona can do... it'd hit him like a truck for sure. ]

Four more.

[ he corrects the bartender because he's gotta assert Big Dick energy by showing that he's not backing down. plus, he's gaining confidence after he switched over to nekogami. thanks, kido, for your help. ]

[ he says, glancing over at terry. are you afraid yet? ]

Hell no, it isn't.

[ No, it... it actually is. Terry is actually afraid that he'll black out at this point if drinks two more. His tolerance is pretty good even without his filter, and if he had his filter, he could easily down 8 of these, but he doesn't, and that's where he suffers. It's like drinking two shots of vodka with each bohemian absinthe cocktail and he feels his head spin a little.

This is clearly a bad decision, but he's not going to back down. The bartender looks Worried, but will slowly give them one glass each. It's as if he knows that neither of them will last that much. ]

Shit, are we betting? What are we betting...

[ as the bartender slides those two cocktails, souji gives him a look that practically says "you're going to give us those other two that i've asked for, right?". he's serious, man, he's going to drink it and then i guess throw up in an alleyway when he's alone. his stomach is doing weird flips and although nekogami is slowing down the effects of getting piss poor drunk off everything, he is starting to feel a little loopy. hm, he places an arm against the counter and leans in forward to steady himself. ]

Your house. If I win, give me your four-bedroom house.

[ he'll sip his next cocktail rather than just immediately chugging it. this is pacing yourself, right ]

If I win... shit, what do I want...

[ Ugh. It's hard to think when the bar is spinning all around him. ]

Wait, hold on... I'm not betting my house! That's useless to you and I worked way too hard with two other people for it!

[ hm, he thinks he can take a guess who one of terry's housemates are. ]

No, that one belongs to a family of cats. The mom cat doesn't have a leg and she needs an entire room to take care of her babies... besides, Kido thinks you guys are shady.

How do you keep getting yourself hurt this often? Are you just charging into battle without a plan?

Yeah... I don't want to worry her too much. Kido too. Anyone, really. My healing rate sucks ass. It's worse than a human's, so if I end up getting hit I just end up bleeding for a long time. It's not like I want to get hurt though. I try to dodge attacks when I can, and my speed helps with that. But I can't really help it, like... that stupid first floor with all the water in it.

[ He sighs and takes another sip. ]

It's better than racking up even more hospital debt anyway...

[ souji nods silently. he takes a sip from his glass. ]

[ terry asks for this as if souji wouldn't give free healing if he's just asked. he's not like minato. he'd give it if he sees terry just bleeding everywhere lmao ]

I've been taking Minato out to places if he asks too. He likes the bathhouse, but he said that he doesn't want to go there by himself anymore because all he'll do it sleep in the bath for like... the entire day. You should go with him to relax and make sure he doesn't drown or something. But man, you know what he did? He kicked someone in the face when he woke up because he was getting a pedicure and just ran back into the portal with a bathrobe...
