The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.
Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.
The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.
→ VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS
The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.
The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Why does that matter? You do what you want, they do what they want.
[ Anyways, Minato is not the best person to talk about this with. ]
no subject
[ Terry just looks at Minato while trying to ignore the pain in his hand. C'mon, Minato. He said that everyone has strengths and weaknesses about being a guide, but he didn't think Minato would be this bad. ]
no subject
Then, help them leave? If that's what you want to do.
[ HE DOESN'T GET WHAT THE PROBLEM IS/is there even a problem? ]
no subject
[ They're just confusing each other today, aren't they... ]
no subject
It'll open. I'm telling you: you guys already know how to open it. You're not the only one trying to get the door open, Terrence. You can rely on others, and ask them for help.
[ Them and not Minato, whose job is to help.
Or, Terry can use his brain and look down at the door, and maybe he'll notice the ofuda with the tengu's name, see the empty slots, and put two and two together himself. ]
no subject
...
I don't think he knows that they're dropped by the Tengu either, so he has no idea what to make of it. He's dumb... ]
I guess that's why Kido looked so sure...
[ Well, whatever. He feels pain from his hand again and looks at Minato. ]
... Can you heal my hand?
no subject
[ But he does not heal Terry's hand. ]
no subject
Name your price, oh great Attendant. What will it take for you to whimsically heal my hand?
no subject
[ It's a pretty open ended request, and because it's open, Minato doesn't expect Terry to ever complete it. He still reaches into his pockets and underhand tosses a ziplock bag towards Terry. It's a bag of amanatto, and each candied bean will heal Terry a little. It was Minato's snack but it can be Terry's replacement soda. ]

Beans?
[ ... ]
Candy beans? But, yeah... sure thing.
no subject
[ They taste like sugar and beans... But one or two of them should take the pain out of his hand. ]
no subject
Oh, they're pretty good.
[ ... ]
They're... magical beans?
no subject
Don't plant them. It'd be a waste and only attract ants.
no subject
[ Fortunately, he does get the reference. Classics are timeless, even to a dense nonhuman like him. ]
no subject
I might have to sit that one out. Dunno if I'd have the upper body strength to climb all the way up into space.
no subject
[ Live for the adventure, Minato. And yes, to kill and steal their gold. ]
no subject
[ So yeah, he could cheat, but no, he's not going to. Killing giants and stealing gold isn't a good enough incentive for his lazy ass. ]
no subject
[ Sounds exciting. ]

[ The view from the school rooftop was enough to take Minato's breath away, just a slice of this little town, so to imagine seeing the entire world fit in the palm of his hand... But maybe Minato's boring and his sense of fun is different from Terry's. Fighting is easy; sometimes, he feels like destruction is what he was made to do. But he can never get enough of just sitting and watching the world turn. ]
no subject
Hmmmm. Terry thinks with what Minato said in mind. ]
Wanna go do that then?
no subject
[ He didn't think he had to remind Terry again that it isn't a magic bean in that sense, but Minato's the dumbass with which you have to be very specific with your words or he won't get it ]

The tallest point of the castle that's still intact is the spire built directly over the throne room, the space at the very top empty but with a pedestal that looks like something once sat there. ]

There's forest as far as the eye can see and Terry is enjoying the view because it's so high up! It's so fun! It's... also dangerous, but he'll act upon it when it happens. No big deal. He adjusts Minato so that he can face the same way as he is. ]
This is high enough, right?
no subject
[ Minato gets on his own two feet so he can lean way over the edge and look around, somehow managing to keep his balance even with the wind blowing and most of his upper body over empty space, hands gripped tight on the railing that has questionable integrity.
But if he leans out all the way like this, he can almost remove the castle from his view and focus just on the rest of the world, the wide open sky uninterrupted by buildings, wisps of cloud so thin, he wants to run his fingers through them. A dense forest hiding the bears and other animals below, the town out there in the distance with pinpoints of people if he squints hard enough. It's kind of incredible, the knowledge that one tiny spec out there is an entire life.
Everything is so quiet up here in the tower, and the world below, Minato removed from it all, seems so still. It's teeming with life just under the surface, but he won't ever really know any of that unless he's immersed in it, in the dark alleys and crowded shops. He can watch over people all he ways, know people's names and face and little things about them, but that line between being an Attendant and being a person has never felt so stark. ]
