The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ he doesn't nod. he just stands there, thinking. he'd like to help, but this is very much one of those "you can only help yourself" scenarios. he can't force terry to accept vassago. he understands that it can be difficult, but he does wish he can do more. ]

... you still haven't been able to accept Vassago?

[ he already knows the answer considering what terry told him but any progress at all? ]

I... haven't.

[ He sighs and scratches the back of his head a little. ]

The more time I have to think about it, the more it feels like the less I'll be able to accept him. I did go to therapy, but... then this [ death ] happened. I've been trying to think of ways to try and accept him, but it hasn't been working...

Therapy is a good start.

[ but like he said earlier, the sudden death of his friends would have definitely put a hamper on anything. ]

Vassago doesn't shape who you are. You shape him. I know you've said that Vassago represents something else, something that's not you, but at the end of the day, he still comes from you. Whatever inner conflict you have, it's passed onto him.

So... if I accept the inner conflict, that will work, right?

[ Easier said than done. ]

I've been trying out the "accepting the consequences surrounding it" thing you told me too, but... yeah...

[ It hasn't been working. But at least he tried. ]

I'm just afraid that I won't be myself anymore if I accept Vassago. I think I'd have to throw away what I am.

[ he nods in response to terry's question then thinks about his next line of reasoning. ]

Try not to think about your identity as just one single entity. A person is made up of multiple shades. Perhaps a part of you will change if you accept Vassago, but that part is still you and it doesn't change everything. It's only just a fraction, like a mirror.

[ you know, like rise's whole shadow nonsense, which he's starting to recall. he pauses then speaks up again after a few seconds. ]

... of course, all of this is easier said than done. I also don't know if any of this helps, but those are my thoughts.

[ Terry doesn't say anything at first, and that's when the water finishes boiling, so he takes care to pour the water into both mugs. The teabag should help start forming the tea any minute now and he puts the kettle back. He watches as the different color in the water disperses, giving off a pleasant smell in the process.

He laughs a little. ]

I feel like every time we have this kind of conversation, it just goes in circles.

[ he lets out a small laugh as well, staring down at the mugs. ]

Yeah. Sorry that I can't help any more than this. This is as far as my knowledge goes.

Terry leans on the little kitchen island. ]

Yeah, I'm sure it's a weird case, so it's hard to figure things out. Thanks though... since you tried for me.

[ It's not comforting, but Souji tried. It really is a problem that he has to tackle on his own... and it feels a little lonely. ]

[ he's going to shove terry into a coffin, bury him twenty feet deep, and let him stay there since he can't really die. this is the closest thing that he can do. ]

You're always more than free to come visit whenever you like. I still owe you a meal, so whether you want something homecooked or want to go out, I'll be around for that.

[ this is back from when terry took him out. he hasn't forgotten about that reward. ]

[ He doesn't want to go back into his house or anywhere else and eat alone again. ]

[ i got ur back. also, souji always has free time. it's not like he can do much in this train. ]

Sure. Let me put the tea into a thermos and we can drink it later while sitting outside.

[ sit on a bench after eating, let their stomachs digest while they share some tea and idk stare at the sky. fall is approaching so the nights are slightly more chilly. ]

What are you in the mood to eat?

Something along the lines of comfort food.

[ They both probably need it, tbh. ]

I don't eat much, but if it'll take my mind off things, I can keep eating.

[ he's thinking. he doesn't really eat so he can't particularly think of anything that brings him comfort. ]

What's comfort food to you?

... It's basically junk food like ice cream, potato chips, and whatever snacks I can get hands on.

[ It's not a good coping mechanism, and Terry rarely turns to comfort food to binge on, but. ]

I'm okay with pasta.

Let's start off with pasta. I'll get you ice cream and chips as desert.

[ he'll treat terry to a full meal and some extras. ]

Is there anywhere that serves good pasta? If not, I can make some.

I want to see how you cook your pasta.

[ Since he also cooks, he wonders how Souji does it. ]

And I had some other questions, though it's not as heavy... probably. So we can stay here, unless you really want a change of scenery.

[ hmm, souji thinks about the ingredients that he'd need for pasta. he can always cheap out and buy the sauce pre-made, but he likes to make things from scratch. ]

I'll need to pick up some ingredients, so let's head out to the store. We can pick up your ice cream and chips as well for later, but you can wait here if you don't want to tag along.

I can go with you.

[ He doesn't want to be alone, so he quickly takes up on Souji's offer. ]

I'm not sure if I can eat all that though... but I guess it'll be nice for Minato to snack on if I can't.

[ he nods. he's sure that minato would like that. speaking of minato, he'd have to keep in mind to make enough to feed him later. he won't eat unless terry asks, but he'll start moving to get a thermos out of the cabinet and pour the tea in the mugs inside. ]

What kind of questions did you want to ask?

I know Minato uses a sword.

[ He watches the tea go into the thermos. That looks like some nice steam... ]

What do you use?

Not sure. I don't remember using a weapon.

[ he thinks as he pours the last bits of the tea into the thermos. he'll seal it up before washing the cups. ]

I remember training with someone, though. We were practising kicking techniques.

[ Kicking techniques, huh... Terry ponders a little. ]

Do you think you can fight without a Persona?

Maybe. I've never fought someone before so I haven't had the chance to find out.

[ unless you count wrestling with minato as fighting. ]

Why? Do you want to fight?

[ Maybe that's more like play fighting. Terry, on the other hand... ]
