The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ The clothes had been slid back behind Minato's head to use as a pillow, but he grabs it before standing up and dipping his head a little in thanks. ]

Just one hour...? Okay...

[ Fine ): He won't push his luck, but when he does get inside the bathroom and close the door, the first thing he does is use his finger to write something on the bathroom mirror while it's still steamy, for whoever takes a bath or shower next to see. Then it's time to sit in the bath for the entire hour until Terry comes knocking on the door again. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry had his timer set for one hour on his phone, and since it's still morning, he took the time to cook some breakfast for the household in the meantime. He ended up making some for Minato too--two egg benedicts for everyone in this household.

He has his glasses on by now since he still needs to adjust. The adjustment period is a lot longer than he thought, or maybe his body doesn't adapt well to these kinds of things... either way, he goes over to the bathroom and knocks. ]

Minato, are you still in there? I made breakfast for you too.

[compendiem]

[ There is no answer. Perhaps predictably, Minato has fallen asleep in the bathtub, but at least he leaves his legs straight instead of bent so he's not liable to slip down any further and drown.

The door's not locked if Terry tries it, but maybe he should knock harder. ]

[overstrain]

[ Yeah, he'll knock a little harder. ]

Minato! Wake up! I know you're sleeping in there!

[compendiem]

Five more minutes.

[ His voice sounds a little garbled ]

[overstrain]

... I'm coming back after five minutes! Your breakfast is gonna get cold.

[ So Terry will leave the bathroom door to feed Hibiki and such. He really does come back after five minutes on the dot and knocks again. ]

Minato, are you out yet?

[compendiem]

Sort of...

[ Meaning he's out of the tub, but still in the process of getting dressed and everything, forgetting to towel his hair dry and dripping water all over the ground and having to wipe that up too, it really is such a pain. ]

[overstrain]

[ As long as he's out of the tub, that's fine. ]

Call me if you need anything.

[ They probably don't have a hair dryer yet... Terry leaves the bathroom alone to clean the kitchen. Minato's breakfast is on the counter with the stool and stuff. ]

[compendiem]

Yeah.

[ It takes him another ten minutes to come out, barefoot and with his hair combed through with his fingers but still dripping onto his shoulders, shirt and pants on but without the uniform jacket.

He missed the part about breakfast so he's just going to lie down on the sleeper couch, on his stomach with his head and arms hanging over the edge so he doesn't get anything wet. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry watches him go to the sleeper sofa and drapes a towel over his arm and carries the breakfast plate over to Minato. ]

Here, this is for you.

[ He sets the plate down and sets the towel on the couch and adjusts Minato's head on it. ]

[compendiem]

[ There's a mumble of something unintelligible but Minato sits up after that, not wanting to roll over and knock the plate over even though he sleeps like a log and basically hasn't moved a muscle in days. ]

You don't have to feed me. I'm not a Guest, and you know I don't have to eat.

[ ...But he will take the food anyways and eat it because he likes food... ]

[overstrain]

I know, but it doesn't mean I don't want to feed you anything.

[ It's a light breakfast, but Terry made sure to perfect the hollandaise sauce because that's a big part of the egg benedict. It's not cold, since he made sure to cook Minato's last. It's about enjoying what life has to offer. ]

Feel refreshed and everything?

[compendiem]

Mm, yeah.

[ The hollandaise sauce is good, but Minato's favorite part of eggs benedict is always the egg, poking at it and watching the yolk run out before he eats. He's quiet all the meanwhile, slow to cut things up and chew, but after a couple of seconds, he pipes up: ]

I've never eaten breakfast before. Don't wake up early enough in the Velvet Room for it to count, and my diet was crap when I was human. So this is nice.

[overstrain]

It's kinda hard to tell what time it is in the Velvet Room though... can't you just eat breakfast anytime you want to?

[ Though seeing Minato enjoy the food makes Terry feel pretty happy. ]

[compendiem]

Yeah, Souji makes breakfast stuff all the time. I tried once, but I got egg all over my hands. But eating breakfast before noon feels kinda different.

[ The fact that it's actual breakfast that's meant to be breakfast, and not just the first meal of the day. There's a difference? Sort of. To Minato, there feels like a difference. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry can see how that can be the case. He sometimes felt like that too, but he usually got up early enough to eat breakfast at the appropriate time. ]

That's fair. I'll cook breakfast for you again some time.

[ Something a little different each time--that was what Terry decided to do whenever he cooked for Minato. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato seems pretty happy about that, with the way his shoulders lift and head ducks a little, though he still doesn't say thanks or whatever the polite thing to do in this situation is. Instead, he decides there's a better way to show his appreciation. ]

Me too, then. Next time you come to the Velvet Room on non-urgent business [ aka while not carrying dead people ] I'll make something for you. I've gotten better since then. Sort of.

[overstrain]

Just "sorta", huh?

[ Though Terry smiles anyway, because he's really looking forward to it now. Besides, you can only go up from the carolina reaper stir fry... ]

But do I get to request?

[compendiem]

[ Thankfully for everybody, Souji had confiscated the carolina reaper, so it really can't get much worse ]

Sure. What do you want to eat?

[overstrain]

[ Bless Souji... Terry thinks about it for a moment, trying to come up with a breakfast food that doesn't need eggs and is relatively simple. ]

Hash browns! What about you?

[compendiem]

[ Hash browns... He'll have to get Souji to make it first so Minato can sit on the counter and watch how it's done. ]

Hm... Something crunchy.

[overstrain]

Hm...

[ Crunchy breakfast food... he already asked for hash browns, so he needs to think of something else. ]

How about bacon lattice breakfast pie? Or breakfast tacos? Pick one.

[compendiem]

Tacos are more fun to eat.

[ They're messier than pies, but that's what makes them fun, and that's apparently the criteria Minato's going off of. ]

[overstrain]

Then it'll be breakfast tacos next time!

[ He's actually pretty stoked about this now. Maybe it's a little piece of happiness that revolves around the topic, but the smiles really help too. It feels warm and nice. These are the small bits of happiness, Minato. You're seeing it in real time. ]

[ Yay... Squeezing the last bits of happiness out before October slams everybody. But this is nice; it's nice seeing Terry smile just like it's nice seeing anybody smile— especially with how rare it is around Minato in particular. It's good. He likes this. ]
