The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ This is what happens when he doesn't think about his choices and chooses one at random... Terry feels the weak grip from Minato and just... ties his end of the jump rope to Minato's arm instead and holds the rope a little further in to steer. He doesn't know how this goes!! But. Well. It'll be fine?? Probably. Who knows? ]

Okay, I'm ready now.

[compendiem]

[ Will it be fine? Terry's feet aren't bound to the skis, so he has to rely on Minato to keep the skis straight, which he immediately does not when the Persona takes off over the lake again and flying low enough to pull the two of them along with him instead of up with him. ]

Lean back a little so we don't flip over.

[ Like that's the problem, and not the fact that the rope is tied to one of Minato's arms and not the other, so they're off-balanced from the very start. ]

[overstrain]

[ You'd think that someone who regularly goes above safe moving speeds would be totally okay with this kind of situation, but he isn't. Terry almost lets out a scream as he takes control of the rope to grab a little more further in and leans back a little as Minato instructed so that they can try to balance a little more, regardless of which hand it was tied to. ]

It's wobbling too much!!

[compendiem]

It's okay.

[ It really isn't, and if this keeps up, one of the skis is going to fly out sideways and break Minato's hip or something, which sounds painful so Minato just... lifts that one foot slightly out of the water so they're effectively skiing on one ski, and unbalancing them even more. Because he has the strength to move mountains but decides that keeping his legs together is too hard. ]

[overstrain]

[ It's really the mundane stuff that are so much of a hassle. Terry would agree, but right now, he's trying to keep them balanced after Minato lifts his foot slightly off the water. AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa ]

Put your foot down! Minato!!

[ Okay he's screaming now ]

[compendiem]

[ Oh. Alright, Minato does as instructed, putting his foot down again but the angle is wrong and now they slip under the water—- it only lasts for a split second, though, barely enough to get their ankles wet before the jump rope tugs at their arms straight up, Vassago up high in the air so they don't fall completely into the water.

His shoulder hurts... ]

[overstrain]

That's the wrong--

[ The rest is muffled underwater as Terry spits out the water that he nearly swallowed once he's above the surface. He feels so gross...

Anyway, he unties the jump rope from Minato's arm, but keeps his own free arm around Minato's waist to hold him up and not fall. He can't help but laugh over how much of a disaster this was. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato lets himself be complete dead weight since Terry's so kind as to hold onto him, and his glance flicks up at him for a second, and then at Vassago, and then the three of them are going up and up and up. Minato's decided that he enjoys sky diving more than he does water skiing, and the fall should dry them off so it's a win-win. ]

[overstrain]

[ ... ... ...

Terry is suddenly Worried. ]

... Why are we still going up...?

[compendiem]

Don't worry about it. We'll be going down soon.

[ Just calm down and let Vassago hurtle them through the air. He won't even let them free fall— if Terry keeps a hold of that rope, Vassago's going to zoom straight down into the water too, disappearing before he can get wet but the same can't be said for Minato and Terry. Like canon-balling in the pool. It'll be fun, probably. ]

[overstrain]

[ IT'S LIKE CHARIZARD'S SEISMIC TOSS and Terry is yelling all the way down while clinging onto the rope and Minato. He's definitely not keeping his strength in check right now.

It's fun but he wasn't expecting it, so that's why he was screaming all the way down until they make a big splash into the lake. That sure is going to cause a small wave into the town. ]

[ Terry could have let go of the jump rope at any time, but instead he lets Vassago two them through the air while screaming the entire time. Minato doesn't mind getting squashed, at least, because it means he doesn't have to hold onto anything, just stare up at the sky and then up at the lake and then he's underwater, cold and tumbling and nearly reaching the very bottom of the lake with how hard they were thrown into the water.

Anybody outside while this is happening get to face a mini-tsunami. ]

[ He's suddenly very glad that this isn't during Lockdown, so Terry just propels himself and Minato back up to the surface as fast as he can. There's no portal when this place isn't a Dungeon... He loosens his hold on Minato once they get to the surface. ]

... That was a lot of things.

[compendiem]

[ Isn't it? Minato pushes the bangs out of his face, where they refuse to stay back and plaster against the side of his face anyways. It's good enough. Minato treads water a little, staring down at the water and thinking that the poison is going to be a pain until he gets rid of it, but neither of those are the important bits. ]

Were they good things?

[overstrain]

Yeah.

[ It was terrifying all the while he screamed, but it was still fun. He's sitting up on the ground now, despite the water still flooding a little. He's already soaked, so what's a little more? Terry brushes his bangs back because he doesn't like them getting in his eyes when they're drenched like this. ]

Wow, you look so different with your hair like that.

[ He laughs a little. ]

[ Minato dips his hands into the lake water before getting out of it, using both hands to slick his hair back. ]

It makes me look like a dick, huh?

[ It's Ryoji's hairstyle... ]

[ oh my god minato lmao

Terry would laugh more, but the hairstyle is so familiar to Ryoji's, who he's... familiar with. He can't really forget about Ryoji from how much the cafe mentions him and the name trademarked mochi. ]

Haha, I'm not sure... I know someone with that hairstyle and he was far from a dick.

[ Anybody can be a dick if they try hard enough, even Ryoji. t's usually the person you least expect anyways. ]

Yeah? I want to hear about your friends...

Yeah. Some of his hair stuck out at the front though. Kinda like this.

[ Terry makes several hair antennas from Minato's hairline by moving his hair around a bit. ]

I didn't think he was a Persona user, but apparently he was... I never saw him summon one, but I only found out when he turned zombie-like with the others. That guy was...

[ --a dangerous flirt.

Yeah, he's not gonna say that. ]

... really nice. A good guy. He ate a bunch too... waited outside the cafe until it opened and ordered a bunch of stuff that made the chefs tired. Then he eventually became a coworker and we worked on skits together. He's pretty laidback and pretty much goes along with everything. I guess he had something like a magnetic personality? Some customers called him a prince. The cafe even named one of the special mochis after him.

[ It feels... so long ago... ]

[ Minato knows immediately who Terry is talking about when he says that he was a Persona user and not one of Terry's friends back home like he thought he'd be hearing about. He sounds like the sort of person Minato might get along with, the sort of person who enjoys food and is easygoing— but then Terry talks about Ryoji's personality and Minato frowns deeply. ]

He'll come around someday... You haven't given up on them, right?

[overstrain]

[ Maybe Minato doesn't like prince-types... ]

Well... no. One of them lives with us because he's a mutual friend with the people who live in the house. I can't really keep an eye on them all the time though.

[ It sounds exhausting just thinking about it, because there's so many of them in Hirajiro now. ]

... They can't enter the Velvet Room portal anymore.

[compendiem]

[ Minato just doesn't like Ryoji-types lmfao ]

Yeah... it's 'cause their Persona got damaged, so they can't get in. But you know how there's those name plates by every door in the Velvet Room? Their names are still there.

[ So, in a way, they're still Guests. Minato and Souji are still responsible for them, so they'll be looked after. ...though that's probably not a comfort, seeing as people have died under their watch already anyways. ]

[overstrain]

So you don't ever change name plates or anything? They're just there forever?

[ It's kinda like browsing through social media accounts of people who died... They're there, but not... there. That's how Terry thinks of it anyway. ]

[compendiem]

Well... Before, it was just me and Souji and all the name plates were blank. Then they fill up as you guys get here. No reason to throw them out, right? It's not like you guys are dead forever.

[ Don't metaphorically kill off his Guests?? Terry??? ]

[ ... ... ...

For a second, Terry isn't sure he heard that right. ]

We're not... dead forever?
