The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ What does he even expect Minato to do??

He sighs and picks Terry up— not in the nice secure way that Kido does it, holding Terry close to her, but Minato holds him with his arms out and Terry's feet danging below him. Souji had been hoping for a pet waraji all month, even building a little Colosseum out of the couches for it, but since that never happened, this is the next best thing.

Minato drops Terry off in doggy jail. ]

[ WHY THIS

Terry starts incessantly yapping at Minato, but then gradually devolves into whines and then puppy howls. He is scratching up your couch and you can't stop him. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato doesn't care about the state of the couch unless Terry like... pees on it or something, and then they'll have to have a talk. He sits down on the ground and rests his arms and head down on the edge of the cage, looking at Terry. ]

...Outside magic is nulled in this place, you know. I can tell it's not a Persona status effect. So whatever happened, it's above me. It'll wear off... maybe... but this sorta stuff's happened to you before, right?

[overstrain]

[ Oh. Right. He had that moment when he was blind and all that other stuff. Man. He's finally realizing what a hassle it is and stops scratching the couch. Instead, he sits quietly while looking up at Minato, occasionally tilting his head in one direction... and then the other. His tail wags again and he barks as if to confirm. ]

[compendiem]

It's not as bad, thinking it that way, right? You only have a short time like this, so enjoy it. ...if possible.

[ Something about being an opportunity... Souji could word it better, Minato thinks, reaching into the cage to pat Terry on the head. This is so weird. His best friend back when he wasn't an Attendant had been a dog too, but Koromaru is so much cooler than Terry. ]

Think if you hold a knife in your mouth, you can still fight?

[ He's not sure what opportunity there is other than bothering people and starting his own parody called Terry Gets Blood Packs. It's also pretty hard to beat Koromaru though. It's true.

Terry keeps looking up at Minato and nods. His tail still wags... he doesn't get as bloodthirsty as before, but he can still fight. ]

[compendiem]

Cool. I need you to dive into the lake tonight and kill something for me.

[ Guess what Minato needs dead... His depression is bad enough already without the lack of sunlight. ]

[overstrain]

[ Hmmm... Terry already killed everything in the lake at least once from what he remembers, but he should make sure what he exactly wants dead. He tilts his head the other way as if to ask. ]

[compendiem]

[ Gotta kill this thing several times to make it stick. ]

Um... Asaka-no-Mikoto?

[ It's an assassination job. Even if Terry doesn't remember the daitengu, since there was a lot more pressing things on his plate that occupied his time, maybe he remembers all those coin puzzles he had to suffer through and the one that was behind it all. ]

[overstrain]

[ Who the hell is that--though Terry never bothered to remember the Daitengus' names, because he just wanted to kill them and ask questions later, if ever. The only thing that had those long names... right, the big bird bosses.

...

Terry the pom looks so exasperated as if to say HE'S STILL ALIVE?? ]

[compendiem]

[ ...Minato smiles a little. Yeah, he's still alive. ]

Is it that surprising? You guys are pretty hard to kill and keep dead too.

[overstrain]

[ Terry growls and snorts twice while ducking his head before looking back up at Minato. He stands to claw at the couch. He's gonna go and kill it dead!! ]

[compendiem]

[ Cute. Minato has no idea what any of that means, but enthusiasm is enthusiasm. ]

Good. Bring somebody with you, in case you need to... I dunno, climb stairs or something. I can't believe you're trapped like this. I hope somebody brings a waraji soon.

[overstrain]

[ ?!

Terry scratches at the couch even harder. LET ME OUT!!! ]

[compendiem]

[ Can't help you if you don't speak up, Terry.

Minato stands, though, because he has an idea. He should have done this before...

Over the next five minutes, he shuttles cats from wherever they are into Terry's doggy jail. Some of them jump out and make the task endless, but others are curious enough to flop on top of Terry or poke at his fluff. ]

[overstrain]

[ This... This is true torture!! Some cats flop on Terry and he yelps and tumbles over. He growls and tries to bite, but it's useless. These cats are stronger than some baby pom. Terry even gets a paw to the face for his troubles and he whines. ]

[compendiem]

[ Cute. It looks like enough cats, and the ones inside have all settled down, intent on pinning Terry to the floor, so the last thing Minato does is drape a blanket over the entire thing and then lies down on the couch on the other side of the lounge.

No meowing, no Terry, he's conquered both monsters and finally he gets peace. ]

[overstrain]

[ This is Terry under the blanket right now. ANGRY BARKING!! YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP ]

[ Minato covers his ears with a couch pillow and the cats swat at Terry's face. Shut up, dog. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry continues to be loud and fights back by shaking them off and pouncing on one of the cats, but that hideously backfires and he's mobbed all at once.

THIS IS THE WORST ]

[ They're just playing. Sort of. ]

Think of it as special training for later.

[ Minato calls from his spot on the couch, as if this was all for Terry's own good and not his own. It's a good thing Kido's a deep sleeper or she'll be the one to march over and kick down the fort so they'll all shut up. ]

[overstrain]

[ ANGERRYYYYYY

After getting out of the mob, Terry hops on the cats, one at a time, and is soaring in the air with the blanket like he's a blanket ghost. Unfortunately, he tumbles in the blanket on the floor, because this is his kryptonite as a pom: big cloths that he gets tangled in. ]

[compendiem]

[ The cats all screech and scatter when Terry does that, and Minato opens his eyes just in time to see Terry tumble across the ground.

...

Minato stands up, goes to the linen closet, and starts to pile more blankets over Terry. Sleep and be warm. Minato's a great Attendant. ]

[overstrain]

[ He is so lost in the blanket... and why is it getting heavier... didn't you just give him a job?! Why are you hindering him like this!! Terry runs here and there, but he just can't get out... ]

[compendiem]

[ It's not midnight yet, so Terry has time to waste like this. It's not like he can go around talking to anybody else, right? Minato steps on one corner of the blanket to pin it in place, and then reaches over to pat the lump at the center of the blanket. ]

You want to get out, right? Then calm down.
