The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[Well, he should probably... at least try to prepare for the Plan. Unlike the others however, he'll at least be polite whenever/wherever he finds Minato.]

Minato...?

[His voice is quiet and probably not at all loud enough to wake him, RIP.]

[ The next five tags are just Sasuke trying to wake Minato up, because he's definitely not waking up from the couch in the lounge unless Sasuke raises his voice or pokes him. ]

What if he gently shakes Minato's shoulder?]

[ Minato mumbles something and turns over from his back to his stomach. Ganba Sasuke. ]

[not_that_sasuke]

[...

Shaking a little harder now.]

Mm...

[ Minato reluctantly turns back around to lay on his back, rubbing the heel of his palm over his eyes but not opening them yet. ]

Hi, Sasuke. Do you need me for something?

[not_that_sasuke]

You had a request...?

[But this is Minato so he may prefer sleeping instead.]

[compendiem]

[ Yeah, his request is for people to leave him alone and let him sleep, but they won't do that until he meets them halfway and listens to them fulfill his request. ]

Yeah, the homework.

[ Okay. Can't remain lying down for this, so he swings his feet off the cushions so he can sit properly, patting the seat next to him so Sasuke doesn't have to stand awkwardly in front of him either. ]

It was... a fear and a regret. Whichever one you want to start with.

[Sasuke sees that and... continues to stand, actually. He's fine like this, he just wants to get it over with.]

I'm afraid of Yuusuke and I regret that my thoughts are probably what made the snake spirit take Neko Fukuta into Morimori Academy.

Oh, that's new. Being afraid of a person.

He has no idea who Neko is and why being a student there is a point of regret for Sasuke, but he knows of Yuusuke, so that's what catches his attention. ]

Was that ever different in the past?

What do you mean?

Like... You weren't born being scared of him. Probably.

[ Probably??? Maybe something traumatic happened right at birth, he doesn't know. ]

What changed?

...No. I didn't start out afraid of him. We used to actually try to run away from home together.

[Sort of.]

Probably... when he started fighting me for fun.

[compendiem]

[ You know, there was a time in August where ever other thing Minato learned about Sasuke was Concerning, and having that feeling again is very nostalgic. ]

But it wasn't fun for you, and he takes it too far...?

[not_that_sasuke]

He...

[So much for getting this over with quickly.]

-Can we talk about the rest somewhere else?

[ Why does nobody like to talk in the lounge... ]

Sure. Your room, or outside?

[not_that_sasuke]

[And he'll actually lead the way there! And shut the door once they're both in. Why are both my characters like this.]

...He used to use what we were taught to beat me. I think he liked feeling better than someone else.

[compendiem]

[ Yeah, why is everybody like this. Rei didn't even want to say hers out loud and Minato had her write it on a candy wrapper... ]

There's lots of other kids he can beat, though. Why you?

[ ...maybe because it's him. Siblings fight, Minato thinks... he's an only child, and he doesn't even remember his childhood— any of them— so it's hard to relate. ]

[not_that_sasuke]

Because everything we did was a competition. Our family pit us against each other in everything, so we'd have to improve to beat each other... at first.

I started to fall behind, and I never caught up again. Maybe he was getting back at me for all the times I annoyed him... or maybe he liked being the strongest one between the two of us all along. Either way, he'd inflict as much pain on me as he could.

[His tone could be described as level, or perhaps more accurately as - dead. It's something that happened in the past, and he's not really digging too deep into the memories themselves, merely describing the events as they occurred.]

That... doesn't sound fun.

[ Obviously not for Sasuke, but for Yuusuke too. Why would you want to keep beating somebody you're already better than? Boring. ]

He enjoyed it enough to keep doing it.

Is that enough for you?

People are really confusing sometimes... But yeah, that's enough. Can I see your omamori?

[ It'll be the same process as he did for Rio, summoning Sasuke's Persona when the omamori is in his hand, and asking the snake what skill to upgrade. ]

[Her word is a soft, haltering murmur, but it's "Regenerate."]

[ Regenerate... Minato nods. Regenerate 3 it is. He hands the omamori back to Sasuke ]

Here. Are you going to see Souji now? I bet he'd like to hear your hopes and dreams, if you haven't already told him.

[Yay, healing. He doesn't look very enthusiastic at Minato's suggestion however.]
