The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Terry just holds Minato's hand that's blindly reaching so that he can stop doing that and puts his hand back to his side. ]

Don't wanna. I didn't know you owned a motorcycle though.

[compendiem]

[ Thanks for saving his shoulder, but Terry is not getting his hand back afterwards; Minato just continues holding it as he lifts his head and looks over, somewhat confused. ]

I didn't know that either. Where is it? I want to try...

[overstrain]

... I dunno.

[ He doesn't make any effort to let go of Minato's hand because he doesn't mind hand holding. ]

There was a crow cawing at the Velvet Room portal for a bit and left a set of keys. Apparently two of them are for a motorcycle and the keys were yours at some point.

[ He dangles the key ring in front of Minato's face. ]

Look familiar?

[compendiem]

Oh... It was probably hungry. I'll go out and feed them later.

[ He reaches for the keys with the other hand, the recognition being mixed because he recalls some things more easily than others, and most of these things shouldn't be here in the first place. ]

...I wonder if I dropped them somewhere the last time I was here. I recognize them. Most of them were gifts.

[overstrain]

A gift?

[ Terry doesn't let Minato take them for now and instead, pokes Minato's forehead with one of the three keys that don't open anything physical. ]

Maybe one of these will open your mind or something.

[ He finally gives the keyring to him. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato squeezes his eyes shut when he's poked in the forehead with one of the keys. It's solid white, with flecks of silver sparkles in it. When he gets the keyring, he finally lets go of Terry's hand so he can twirl it around one finger— it immediately slips off and falls onto the ground.

...

He just stares at it. ]

[overstrain]

[ ... ... ...

Terry also stares down at the keys on the ground for a good several seconds before picking it back up. ]

Does your dexterity suck...?

[compendiem]

...No.

[ Maybe. Minato gets off his chair to stand, holding his hand back out for the keys, but not really looking at it. ]

The motorcycle keys— there are two of them. Both belonged to my senpai. Mitsuru, and Tatsuya.

[overstrain]

[ Terry hands the keys back. ]

And they both gave them to you...

[ He has a hard time imagining Minato driving a motorcycle. ]

[compendiem]

Yeah.

[ Same, honestly. The closest thing he ever rode was a normal bike, and that sort of ended up with him running into a truck. He flips through the keys one by one, explaining them: ]

This one I got from another teammate of mine, that opened a door to a dungeon. I guess it was something like my Shadow dungeon, but I was dead by then, so I dunno what it was like... This one's to a car— there was a guy at home that I met in a kendo competition, and he gave me this. It belonged to his dad, who had died. The other two keys I got from my Attendant. She was weird. You would have liked her.

[overstrain]

From your own Attendant, huh...

[ Terry looks at the keys with newfound appreciation as Minato lists what the keys are for. ]

So these are like mementos.

[compendiem]

Yeah, something like that. I had a lot of friends back home, and sometimes they'd give me something like this and we'd—

[ Have sex, or whatever the fadeout implies when it says he spent a long time with somebody. He decides not to mention it. ]

...hang out, and stuff. I can't believe I forgot about everybody... I'm remembering more now. Even if I'm just sitting around doing nothing, I can remember just by thinking back hard.

[overstrain]

I hope that you'll cherish those good memories.

[ Terry thinks it would be nice if they lived on through his memories and that Minato appreciated the time he spent with them. But all that goes unsaid as Terry puts his hands back into his jacket pockets. ]

Lots of friends, huh...

[compendiem]

Mm. There was this drunk monk, and a real sleezy businessman I'd hang out with at night. A cult member... and an elementary schooler... We're engaged, actually. She gave me a ring and a kiss and everything.

[ He had great friends. P3 had great social links. ]

...I spent a long time thinking I wasn't anybody worth liking, that Souji just had no other choice but me 'cause he was stuck with me. But that's not true.

[overstrain]

[ He never wants to hear that he has no standards for friends and hanging out with them from Minato when he's like this LOL Terry smiles when Minato recounts his relationships, because it's nice to hear about them. He thinks the elementary school kid thing is one of those children engagements or whatever when they don't know any better, so it doesn't bother him when hearing it. ]

I'm glad you don't think that way anymore. I always saw you as a good friend too.

[compendiem]

[ He'd want to say something about them being nice people, but maybe he can't even say that much. They were all interesting people, though, people who opened up to him and who he learned a lot from, and it was all in such a short amont of time, too, compared to his lack of any sort of bonds here... ]

Remember when we first met and you threatened to kill me? That was funny. I knew you'd be—

[ The keys fly off his finger where he'd been making attempt number two at spinning it around his finger, and fall onto the ground again. ]

Never mind. I wonder why this got picked up.

[overstrain]

... I was so high strung over summoning "demons" and fighting Personas with my bare hands. What were you going to say?

[ Terry bends over and picks up the keys again. He's betting that it was something sappy. ]

[compendiem]

An idiot.

[ He takes the keys back and stares at the keyring, trying to think of a better way to do this so it doesn't go flying off again. ]

I'm glad for it, though. Made you approachable.

[overstrain]

So me threatening to kill you made me approachable, huh...

[ That's so... Minato-like. Terry can't help but to laugh a little at that. ]

But I'm glad that you're my friend.

[compendiem]

Yeah. So when are you going to give me your house keys so I can add it to my collection?

[ He does the twirl again and the keys fly off his finger. ]

[overstrain]

[ The keys smack Terry's forehead and he catches them. He doesn't give them back to Minato just yet though and twirls them calmly and slowly. Pretend that video isn't all tense. He tosses it up into the air and catches it in his hand and then gives it back to Minato. ]

I'll give you something better than a house key.

[compendiem]

[ A showoff. Minato stares at the technique but he'll never be able to pull off, so he resigns himself to just holding the set of keys in cupped hands after getting them back again. ]

Chocolate malasadas.

[overstrain]

[ Terry smiles a little again. ]

Alright, alright. I'll get some of those for you another time.

[ It would have been "next time" but time is weird. He has an idea for Minato's Christmas present too. ]

You should drop by the craft fair some time. They're selling food there too.

[compendiem]

[ Minato shakes his head ]

It's different buying 'em myself. I like eating with people. If Souji's not around, I go out and feed the crows, and they keep me company.

[ He has no need for crafts, either. Souji might want to spend an obscene amount of money on sweaters for his 2134058394 cats, but there's no temperature in the Velvet Room so Minato doesn't need things like warm sweaters and fuzzy mittens. He rarely goes outside unless it's with somebody else too. ]

I mean... you can buy the stuff and share it with other people...?

[ Minato??? ]
