The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ The smell of food lulls Minato out of slumber, blinking blearily past Terry's shoulder at the menu tacked up on the wall. ]

Cool... Wish more kidnappings were like this.

[ He pushes off Terry's shoulder and finds his footing after a wobbly two seconds. ]

One of each?

[overstrain]

[ Normally Terry would say no since he doesn't usually eat that much, but. His craving. It's not gonna let him have that. ]

Yeah. One of each. Oh, there's a "random" burger there too. I wonder what I'll get from it...

[compendiem]

[ Minato nods slowly. Okay.

He heads up to the counter to wait his turn in line while Terry fantasizes about the random mystery burger. Two of everything on the menu, including all the appetizers and desserts and drinks, in the largest size. The worker at the cashier gives Minato a despairing and hateful look for this large an order that'll back up the entire store, but Minato just shrugs and points at Terry to shift the blame. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry is still lost in the fantasy of the mystery burger, because he wonders just how it would taste. Maybe it'll be a burger from the menu. Maybe it'll be a secret burger. Maybe it'll be rewarding to eat the best burger from taking on the risk?!

Your courage has increased! ]

[compendiem]

[ It'll continue to be a mystery for a while longer, because Minato returns with a vanilla ice cream cone in each hand and he holds one out to Terry. Food options that doesn't need prep is kind of limited. ]

Gonna take half an hour to get everything ready, since it's not like a restaurant where they'll keep bringing things to our table. Is that okay?

[overstrain]

[ Terry finally snaps out of it when he sees that Minato approaches him. ]

Yeah, that sounds fine.

[ The ice cream will hold off his craving. Except he just kinda eats it up via food vacuum in one go. ]

Ah, that's the stuff...

[ I'm reusing this icon over and over because soothed state is a thing. ]

[ Minato hasn't even taken a lick of his ice cream before Terry's is all gone. That was supposed to last him half an hour. Minato hands his cone over too. ]

Wonder if this town holds competitive eating contests? You can live off the cash prizes.

[overstrain]

... I usually don't eat too much. I have a normal appetite on most days.

[ Though he's getting the feeling that Minato won't believe him anyway. ]

But when I really want to eat it, it just kinda... disappears. I wouldn't be good at an eating contest.

[ He imagines Rei in one though... maybe she could make an earning that way while doing something she loves.</small. ]

[compendiem]

[ Yeah, he's not really believing that, but he'll take Terry's word for it anyways. ]

Maybe a speed eating contest with a normal amount of food.

[ He takes a lick of his ice cream, but then holds it back out to Terry again. ]

If you can't finish everything here, I'll help. So don't push yourself to finish or anything. If you throw up, it's gross.

[overstrain]

[ Oh. He doesn't end up taking Minato's cone, even if he didn't... lick it... Anyway. ]

Yeah, I'll be careful. I know my limits when it comes to eating, at least. And you can keep it. It'll probably be gone in a second if you give it to me...

[compendiem]

[ Hm... Okay. Minato takes a second lick of his ice cream. It's going to be soup by the time half an hour rolls around, but he's determined to make it last half an hour. ]

It's not like I have to eat... It doesn't make as much difference to me as it does for you.

[overstrain]

You don't have to eat, but you can still enjoy food for what it is, right?

[ He's his cheerful self again, with sparkles almost radiating in the background. ]

[compendiem]

...Yeah. Things that are fun to eat. Things that taste weird. New things. That sort of stuff I like. It's why I still do it, even if I don't have to.

[ Rather than filling up his stomach, it's like... filling up his soul. Eating bear steak for the first time is like eating excitement. Eating Souji's cooking, no matter what it is, is like eating comfort. ]

[overstrain]

Does Souji feel the same too? About eating food like that.

[ He's wondering if he should make some surprises in cooking bear meat, since he always liked cooking things to the eaters' preferences. ]

[compendiem]

I dunno. Ask him.

[ Minato unhelpfully takes another lick of ice cream. ]

Okay, I'll ask him when I see him next time.

[ He makes a mental note to self that he should maybe bring some other spices that he didn't see in the Velvet Room kitchen. ]

Can you handle spicy food well?

[compendiem]

[ It's something Souji would know a lot better than him, so he feels justified about sending the question his way. ]

Spicy food's fine. The sort that makes your nose run. The sort that just hurts and nothing else gets old fast.

[overstrain]

[ Terry also makes another mental note not to dump an insane amount of pepper powder in anything. ]

It really does get old fast, huh... I've seen some people swallow spicy food like it's nothing and it looks amazing every single time...

[compendiem]

[ Hey. Why would he dump an insane amount of pepper powder in anything in the first place. ]

That's 'cause you get used to the pain, right? So it stops mattering... Are you no good with spicy stuff?

[overstrain]

Yeah, I'm... not good with spicy.

[ Some people just wanna live on the edge. Spicy food is not how Terry wants to live that life. ]

I can handle a little, like a kick of flavor, but if I start needing to drink something cold with it, I'll have to pass.

[compendiem]

[ ...Minato breathes a laugh through his nose, and hides his smile behind his ice cream cone, licking the cone along the edge before any of it drips onto his hand.

Good to know.

He'll keep that in mind. ]

[overstrain]

[ Unfortunately, Terry doesn't notice Minato's potential scheming, because he seems to be thinking about something else. ]

What kind of flavor is your favorite anyway?

Smelt.

[overstrain]

Terry has an incredulous look on his face right now. ]

You can't be serious.

Yeah, I'm not.

[ He continues eating his ice cream. ]
