The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.
Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.
The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.
→ VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS
The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.
The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Mm, have fun.
[ souji will just wave him off and go back to his business. he's curious about what the situation is but if minato asked him to stay out of it, he'll respect his wishes and stay contained in the kitchen. after minato comes back, souji has finished tidying everything. he'll automatically move to take some of the containers to help minato. he's a little surprised that there's actual meat in there. hm. slightly concerning. ]
Should I start cleaning?
no subject
Yeah, I did what I could, so I'll leave the rest to you.
[ Souji's a good partner for not asking any probing questions. He hopes it'll take an hour or two to clean everything and do laundry and if Terry comes back in between and is traumatized by the corpse for any reason, he hopes Souji will take care of that too.
Rice doesn't take all that long to cook. He doesn't actually have a recipe for tonkatsu but it's breading and fried and it can't be that hard? It can't be worse than what he made with Rei, which he knows would be fine as long as he doesn't add any spices whatsoever to this dish. ]

[ souji will take the containers that he can grab and place them on the counter. he'll take off his apron and leave it right by the counter as well so minato can use it. he's a little concerned on how big this mess might be, considering that minato originally wanted a tarp and now he came back with meat, but it can't be that bad, can it? ]
[ ... ]
[ yeah, it's bad. souji is actually shocked into silence for ten whole seconds when he opens the door to terry's room. it looks like a murder took place here... but he knows that he has to clean it up. if he doesn't do it, minato certainly won't and, well, souji will start to feel that annoying itch in the back of his mind if he leaves it alone. he doesn't like leaving messes so he supposes that he has to get straight to work. he ensures to get changed into an old shirt and pants so he doesn't dirty up his uniform before he endures the hardship of cleaning up a crime scene. it certainly takes him two hours to get rid of the evidence and get the blood out of everything, including minato's uniform. his shirt and sweats are covered in bits of blood and sweats of labour so he has to wash that too. everything takes a very long time and he's absolutely exhausted by the time he finishes. ]
[ he chooses not to get back into his uniform. he's hot and the thought of putting on all those layers is too much for him right now. he just gets changed into a simple v-neck and pants, heading back towards the kitchen with a hand running through his hair. ]
... I'm not sure how careful you were in that room.
no subject
...I was trying to get the head off, 'cause I thought it might look cool on the wall. As apology for messing up his room.
[ Evidently, from the way Minato sort of glances to the side and goes back to crouching in front of the oven, and by the way the boar's neck did look oddly distended and hacked up but still attached, he wasn't able to accomplish that. Most of the meat he'd gotten from the limbs and the sides, though he did also stab the knife into the animal's stomach and drag it down and punctured a couple of organs along the way. It's just sort of a mess, so he's glad that Souji was okay helping him out.
Souji's reward for that is... something like katsudon? There's a bowl, but it's currently empty. There's a couple of large plates out, though, with a hundred pounds of boar meat because Minato decided to cook everything all at once, no seasoning, not marinated, but cut up into small enough chunks that everything's cooked all the way through. He thinks katsudon maybe has vegetables, or that Souji would like that balanced meal sort of thing, so there's carolina reaper stir fry chilling on the counter too. The rice is done? It's still in the rice cooker, but it's hard to mess up rice when it comes with a measuring cup and a line inside the pot telling you how much water to put. It's been sitting there for two hours and might need reheating. ]
It's not done yet, but you can put together your own bowl.
[ Minato still crouched in front of the oven. It looks like a tray of croutons inside or something, but he can't make anything fancy like that so it's just unnecessarily complicated plain toast. Fried pork is supposed to be crunchy, but he couldn't quite achieve that, so croutons it is. ]
no subject
This looks nice.
[ he walks around the kitchen, looking at the meat, the rice cooker, and the dreaded carolina reaper stir fry. he then crouches next to minato, also looking inside the oven, curious as what's in there. ]
You'll be joining me, right?
[ he doesn't want to be eating alone. ]
no subject
He scoots over a little so Souji can watch bread being re-baked until it's dry and crunchy and hard enough to tear up the roof of your mouth. ]
Yeah, I think the breading came out okay.
[ He can't really tell, through the tinted glass door, so he opens the oven just enough to stick his arm inside and poke at one of the pieces of bread. There's a little give, but the outside has crisped up nicely. ]
You don't have to finish it all if you don't want to. [ Because he did expect Souji to eat a hundred pounds of meat all by himself. ] The meat should be okay for your cats, so they'll be fed while we're out camping.
no subject
Mm, did you leave this to the last minute right before our camping trip so I would make things for the picnic or was this truly out of the kindness of your heart?
no subject
[ It can be both... But Minato gets his arm out unhurt and waves for Souji to stand back so he can grab a towel to pull out the tray. ]
I only got the pig today. If I left it in Terrence's room while we're gone, I'm kinda worried he'd eat it by the time we get back. So it had to be now.
no subject
[ souji will stand back up and take a few steps back. he'll start making his own bowl once everything is done and then they can do it together. ]
Well, consider my heart touched. Everything looks good, Minato.
no subject
Instead of picking up a bowl for himself, Minato just sits up on the counter, holds a plate of boar meat in his lap and eats the meat with his fingers, watching Souji expectantly. ]
no subject
... it's good. I liked it.
no subject
I'm glad.
[ It was a lot of work for what Souji claimed was the easiest thing to make and Minato never wants to do it again lmfao ]
But let's do it together next time. I'll kill something, and you figure out how to cook it.
no subject
[ he sets the bowl next to him on the counter and smiles. ]
But have some sympathy and keep your killings contained and on a tarp next time, please.
no subject
They tend to run, but... Deal.
no subject
[ it is. he doesn't mind cleaning but he'd rather clean things like dishes or laundry or cat fur and not blood-soaked rooms. ]
I shouldn't expect another homecooked meal from you though, should I?
no subject
[ He would leave it at that, but ]
That way, when I do feel like doing it, I get to surprise you.
no subject
[ which is actually the truth. he would be pretty pleased to try out minato's cooking again, as long as it's not carolina reaper stir fry. ]
Are you going to need help finishing any of this?
[ at least with the meat, they can feed it to the cats like minato said. ]
no subject
I could eat it. Or, if you could use it in another dish?
[ Why did he cook the entire boar... At least there's a normal amount of everything else, so it really is just the meat that they can leave out for the cats while they're out camping. ]
no subject
Hm...
[ he looks over at all the meat and remembers how much rice they've had left in the rice cooker, thinking for a moment on various different combinations. ]
... yeah, I can do something with the leftovers. I think I should hold up my end of the bargain and go back to cooking.
no subject
I'm glad. I missed your cooking, Souji.
[ It's been a long week without food ]
no subject
We'd better hope that I don't go on strike again, huh?
no subject
Yeah, how could you do that to me? I didn't deserve that.
no subject
[ :) ]
Besides, you don't need my cooking to survive.
no subject
[ He loves your cooking, Souji, don't do this to him ]
no subject
[ souji leans over, pressing his shoulder against minato's. ]
