The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ ... though in the context of trying to find a mountain lion, that means they can listen for any movements rather than trying to draw it out. ]

Souji... You've met those guys. Trying to get them to talk about themselves is like talking to me.

[ Gestures at Sasuke??? This is why they needed two attendants, Minato can't handle this. It's not like P3 where people spill out your life story even if you couldn't care less and just want to run away the entire time. ]

They're all pretty tight-lipped, aren't they?

It's nothing that can be forced though, so... whatever. Give them time and space and see what happens.

[ Maybe it'll take a couple of Shadow Self attacks to get people to open up, who knows, all experiences are learning experiences and the two of them aren't allowed to interfere with the process anyways. ]

[ souji lets out a small 'mm' of agreement. it's true that they won't be able to get any of them to talk but he's going to at least try to force some food into sasuke. he's extremely concerned that sasuke is going to pass out one day or something. ]

[ ... he continues to walk up the mountain, not really breaking a sweat but he looks back at minato. ]

How are you keeping up?

I'm fine. I'll sleep when the mountain lion carries us back down.

[ He's still hanging onto that dream... He's tired and his feet feel like lead, but he can put one foot before the other and not seem outwardly exhausted at all, even breathing and no complaints. ]

...What do you think about installing a ski lift up the mountains?

[ souji will occasionally glance back to make sure that minato doesn't just decide to take a break and nap on the ground. ]

That depends. Who's going to installing it?

[ It's very tempting. ]

[ The guy can build motorcycles, Souji, Minato bets he can build ski lifts too. ]

I'm not sure if he'd be willing to do that for us. He doesn't seem to like me very much.

[ That's impossible. ]

Well, I don't think that he hates me, but we did have some pretty polarizing opinions on legs.

[ What sort of opinions do people have about legs anyways?? Legs are great. ]

Not shaved and well-lotioned ones, apparently.

He's banned from the Velvet Room until he either appreciates shaved and well-lotioned legs, or builds a ski lift.

You'd ban him just for me and my shaved well-lotioned legs? Minato, I'm touched.

[ he puts a hand to his chest dramatically, gasp. ]

Yeah.

[ He would ban people for less. It's not like his bans have any real weight to them anyways, but it's the thought that counts. ]

All legs are beautiful. I hope he gets to learn that someday.

Hopefully soon. You'd want him to build that ski lift soon, right?

[ it truly is the thought that matters. souji lowers his hands from his chest. ]

Let me know if you want to stop to take a break. I brought the tarp so we can sit and lie down.

I was kinda hoping he'd have it built already.

[ So they don't have to climb all the way up this hill... ]

What do you think about taking Vassago or Byakko for a ride up there? You don't care about cheating, right?

[ he thinks for a second, rolling his head to the side. ]

Hm, it kind of takes away from the whole camping experience, don't you think?

Camping is about picnics and tents and mountain lions...

[ You're thinking about hiking, Souji. They're two separate things. ]

And the trip to get to our camping spot.

[ which can include hiking! some people like to even canoe to their camp spots... ]

If you're tired, I can carry the food.

[compendiem]

[ Oh yeah. They have to get to the camping spot before they get to camp. But Minato shakes his head and holds the food a little closer to himself. ]

It's a trip for both of us, so I can't let you carry everything.

[ ... ]

What do you think about stopping for a snack break, though?

[ They can refuel and lighten the load at the same time. ]

Sure. Let's find a clearing.

[ the slope isn't so bad so they can set down the tarp here but he'd like a place where they don't have to be squished between a bunch of trees. he walks off for a bit, checking for a good spot. he's picky, wanting an area where the floor isn't so uneven, there isn't too much fallen debris, they can have a clear look at the sky as they eat, little specifics like that. it takes him a few long minutes to finally find something that satisfies him and he unrolls the tarp that he was carrying, laying it out across the floor. he makes sure that it's neat before he sits right down, patting the ground next to him. ]

Your majesty.

[ Thank god Souji believes in forward thinking, because Minato would have plopped down where they stand and regret the butt later. He really is spoiled. ]

My liege.

[ It's not exactly a king's throne, but it's better, because Minato can lie down and stretch out, back arched like a cat's as he gets the tension out of his back and shoulders. Sleeping all day does make one stiff, but as nice as it would be to take a nap out here, food first. ]

...Pretty nice up here. Look, you can kinda see the castle. It's not on fire yet.

[ souji just sits crosslegged, hands in his lap, as he watches minato stretch out (like a cat, he thinks...). he looks over in the direction ahead, over the trees and towards the castle. ]

I'll make sure to glance over now and then for fire.

[ he likes that minato added a "yet" at the end of his sentence. it's amusing. he gestures towards the bag of food with a wave of his hand. ]
