The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

What if somebody else just wanted to tag along and hang out?

[ Maybe they'll die, maybe they won't, but if Terry's eradicating everything on the floor either way, it shouldn't matter, right? ]

[ He thinks about the people here and if they would actually just want to tag along and hang out. At a Dungeon. Freezing temperatures. Dangerous monsters.

He can't think of anyone. Kano doesn't count because he didn't want to come anyway. ]

[ ...Though it's true, yeah, not many people would go to the dungeons just to hang out, aside from Minato and also Kano who are both weirdos who have different reasons for it. ]

On who because... realistically, from what I know of, there aren't many Persona users here anymore and from the ones I do know more personally, they won't just go into the Dungeon just to hang out.

[ At least, he thinks so...? ]

...Yeah, there's less than half of you guys left, now, even with more coming in. Maybe they'd want to hang out if you ask them? People you don't know personally, even. Dungeons are a cool place to hang out, right...?

[ It's so fascinating down there, Terry, don't you think so?? ]

If I have to deal with swimming through poisonous lakes, suffering from near frostbite, getting cut by literal blades of grass, bleeding all over some sadistic bear, and throw horses into the sky... I'd rather work to do all that so that my trip doesn't feel like a waste. If they can come to hang out by going through hazardous condition, I'd question them what's wrong with their head.

[ He just has dead eyes from all this. If Terrence "i do reckless shit to feel alive" Nowell has to question what's wrong with people, then... maybe they're beyond saving. ]

But it's okay if it's me.

[ It's funny to Minato, because all of that sounds like a terrible time, but he'd just be hanging back watching Terry go through all of it if they were to go together. Besides, it's been a month. He would've thought people would have found the ways to keep from being poisoned, not be cold, protect themselves from the knife grass, etc etc already. They were never supposed to be hard puzzles, and people have gotten to the last floor without being about to fly or go 80mph, so it's not impossible. For Minato, those sorts of puzzles are kind of fun, but maybe he's beyond saving. ]

Yeah, since it's just... who you are, I guess?

[ If Terry ever gets dropped into a death escape room without his powers, he will unsurprisingly die first. Just letting you know. ]

Yeah, people are how they are. Can't change that.

[ And Terry is just like this. Maybe Minato shouldn't push it anymore... He leans forward again, far enough to touch his toes and hear his back pop. ]

...You can make it through the dungeons without Vassago, right?

[overstrain]

[ Wow, Minato is so flexible....................

Anyway. ]

The fourth floor would be a bit of a challenge for me since physical attacks don't really work. I'd have to prepare if I'm going by myself.

[ More bombs and shit. ]

[compendiem]

That's fine, you'll have time to prepare. Let me borrow Vassago for a couple days. I'll hold onto your omamori.

[ He holds his hand out for it. Gimme. ]

[overstrain]

[ He gives Minato his hand that doesn't have the omamori.

... ]

I'll give it to you before the next midnight phase.

[ So that I don't mess up timelines and Kano would actually fall to his death without Vassago being there. ]

[compendiem]

[ ...Minato takes Terry's hand and shakes it. This works. ]

Deal. I'll be here if you need me.

[ Lounging on the couch, wondering how long he'll be able to bum around before he gets kicked out. ]

Sure thing, but you've been sleeping here for about... three or four days straight. Don't you need a shower?

[compendiem]

No.

[ Stares into the sky, do Velvet Room attendants sweat........... Either way, Minato takes Terry's question as a backhanded nudge to get out, but he doesn't want to. It's nice sleeping here where it's quiet and there's no music running through his head all the time. ]

Am I being kicked out?

[overstrain]

No, but...

[ He looks at Minato. He's wearing the Attendant uniform of long sleeves and pants, so it's not like his skin is going to fuse with the couch for staying there for so long. ]

Just wondering if you don't feel fresh or anything. And you're keeping Rei company, even though all you're doing is sleeping, so that's fine.

[compendiem]

I'm fine. It's not like I'm really sleeping.

[ But he'll get up- not to leave, but to stretch his arms above his head, then leans back so he can crack his spine the other way. ]

I wouldn't mind taking a bath, though. Can you knock if I'm not out in two hours?

[ Hope Terry doesn't mind the water bill because yeah, he's going to help himself to Terry's bathroom. Mi casa es su casa, or whatever. ]

[ ... ]

Let me go prepare the bath first...

[ Terry runs over to the bathroom first to get it ready and for Minato to not forever have the water running. ]

[ Haha, yeah... Left to his own devices, Minato would have had the hot water going and the drain unplugged so he can have the water stay hot for the entire two hours. But this is nice too, and he waits for Terry in the hallway next to the bathroom door, just sitting on the floor with his knees drawn up to his chest. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry does some multitasking while preparing for the bath. He leaves the hot water running in the tub while he goes into his own room. When he comes out, he comes out with Minato's Attendant clothes that he still had from the time when they went to the public bathhouse together. He puts the set of clothes on Minato's head as he passes by and goes back to check on the tub full of water again. It takes a while but he comes back out and taps Minato's head. ]

The bath's ready. Get in. I'll come get you if you don't come out in an hour.

[ Not two hours. Just one. ]

[compendiem]

[ The clothes had been slid back behind Minato's head to use as a pillow, but he grabs it before standing up and dipping his head a little in thanks. ]

Just one hour...? Okay...

[ Fine ): He won't push his luck, but when he does get inside the bathroom and close the door, the first thing he does is use his finger to write something on the bathroom mirror while it's still steamy, for whoever takes a bath or shower next to see. Then it's time to sit in the bath for the entire hour until Terry comes knocking on the door again. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry had his timer set for one hour on his phone, and since it's still morning, he took the time to cook some breakfast for the household in the meantime. He ended up making some for Minato too--two egg benedicts for everyone in this household.

He has his glasses on by now since he still needs to adjust. The adjustment period is a lot longer than he thought, or maybe his body doesn't adapt well to these kinds of things... either way, he goes over to the bathroom and knocks. ]

Minato, are you still in there? I made breakfast for you too.

[compendiem]

[ There is no answer. Perhaps predictably, Minato has fallen asleep in the bathtub, but at least he leaves his legs straight instead of bent so he's not liable to slip down any further and drown.

The door's not locked if Terry tries it, but maybe he should knock harder. ]

[ Yeah, he'll knock a little harder. ]

Minato! Wake up! I know you're sleeping in there!
