NPC CONTACT

The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS

🢒🢒 minato

The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji

The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Everything's good on my end. Do you want me to tape your hand too? Otherwise we can go.

[ He's going to lock his knees the entire time so if they crash, he can shatter his kneecaps but at least his knees won't buckle and cause him to fall. ]

[ Ahh. Nope. The jump rope is surprisingly longer than he thought, so he backs up as much as he can before running past Minato and leaps very far into the lake. His leap was pretty low but very far, and his main objective is to have Minato ski across the water in high speeds--and it's working! Zooooom. Off you go, Minato. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ohh, it's working!! Minato's lucky he's the sort of sloucher who leans back instead of forward or he might have immediately faceplanted the water, but leaning back— and he's got to work to keep it that way, or his arm will get ripped off— the skis skim the water without accidentally slipping under.

Does Terry jump towards the middle of the lake and this is going to end up with both of them underwater, or does his jump clear it completely... ]

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He jumped towards the middle of the lake, but he made sure to leap low so that he doesn't pull Minato underwater, because he absolutely cannot make it to the other end when his jump was too low. Instead, he starts swimming on the surface of the lake and kicking his feet and maximum speed and strength so he might as well be a motorboat himself. Minato doesn't have to sink underwater and the rest is smooth sailing... for the most part.

At least the water doesn't get splashed on Minato's face.
]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Like a motorboat... This is exactly what Minato thought Terry would do and he's too late to tell him that it's a stupid idea, but Minato would have wanted to try it out anyways even it's stupid.

Nothing he can do about it now but to lean back and enjoy the ride until it's over. ]

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ As long as Minato doesn't sink, it's all that matters to Terry. They eventually reach the end of the lake and Terry easily gets out of the water and steadies Minato on his... log shoes. ]

How was it?!

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-10 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
It was very... whoosh.

[ That, and a vague hand gesture with the one that isn't taped to the jump rope. It was whoosh. That's what it felt like. He doesn't really know how to put into words the feeling of the wind rushing past his face, cool with the slight spray of water and with his bangs blown out of the way, it's like the world is so much more open— he can't see nor hear as well while going so fast, but it's very in the moment and that's also a rare feeling, to be present and aware and excited.

It's the feeling of being alive.

Whoosh. ]

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-10 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Terry achieved what he initially planned to do, or at least he thinks he did, by making Minato feel excitement that isn't related to the adrenaline you get when in combat. It's a great feeling--when you're alive, and maybe Minato will grow to like it, despite how exhausting it can feel after. ]

Very whoosh and exciting, right?!

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-11 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it was. Want to ride with me?

[ He gestures down at his feet, by which he means Terry can stand on the skis, not take them, because Minato's not really sure how he's supposed to get his feet out of all of this later. ]
overstrain: * (pic#13280443)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-11 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Can I?

[ Terry looks so excited at the prospect of water skiing himself, but... wait, does he have to stand right in front of Minato while balancing himself on the logs?? ]

Wait, who's pulling then?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-11 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ Minato nods, and Terry has the choice of standing in front or behind. ]

Vassago.

[ Obviously, you have a Persona who can fly, so shouldn't it naturally follow that the Persona is the one who plays the part of the motorboat and Terry wouldn't have to swim? ]

I can summon him, if you don't want to try again.
overstrain: * (pic#5531541)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-11 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ ...

Terry feels a strange feeling well up inside. There's really no doubt that Vassago would absolutely hate being summoned for mundane things like this after they just had a giant fight. However, Terry quietly breathes out and reaches into his pocket for his omamori to summon him because he should get over this creeping feeling in the back of his head.

...

There is no dragon.
]

... I guess he doesn't want to come out again.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-12 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you tried saying "please"?

[ Not that he thinks it would make a difference, so he goes ahead and does it instead, Vassago brightening up the sky with a flash of blue light when he appears overhead, wings beating in the air and making waves in the water. ]

Anyways... Go ahead and give him the jump rope, then get on. Front or back?
overstrain: * (pic#5531552)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-12 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ More like Minato, please. Terry considers his options for a moment before speaking up: ]

Front, I guess.

[ He hands Minato's Vassago one end of the jump rope and goes to try his best to situate himself on the logs. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-12 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Terry should have chosen back, or at least take hold of the other end of the jump rope because choosing front means Minato loops his arms around Terry's waist so he doesn't fall— he's not holding on at all; he just has his hands clasped together in front of Terry's navel in a weak grip that will very likely break two seconds into the ride.

He also can't see this way, so any steering will be up to Terry. ]

Ready?
overstrain: * (pic#13280459)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-12 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This is what happens when he doesn't think about his choices and chooses one at random... Terry feels the weak grip from Minato and just... ties his end of the jump rope to Minato's arm instead and holds the rope a little further in to steer. He doesn't know how this goes!! But. Well. It'll be fine?? Probably. Who knows? ]

Okay, I'm ready now.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-12 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Will it be fine? Terry's feet aren't bound to the skis, so he has to rely on Minato to keep the skis straight, which he immediately does not when the Persona takes off over the lake again and flying low enough to pull the two of them along with him instead of up with him. ]

Lean back a little so we don't flip over.

[ Like that's the problem, and not the fact that the rope is tied to one of Minato's arms and not the other, so they're off-balanced from the very start. ]
overstrain: * (pic#5531545)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-12 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ You'd think that someone who regularly goes above safe moving speeds would be totally okay with this kind of situation, but he isn't. Terry almost lets out a scream as he takes control of the rope to grab a little more further in and leans back a little as Minato instructed so that they can try to balance a little more, regardless of which hand it was tied to. ]

It's wobbling too much!!

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-12 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay.

[ It really isn't, and if this keeps up, one of the skis is going to fly out sideways and break Minato's hip or something, which sounds painful so Minato just... lifts that one foot slightly out of the water so they're effectively skiing on one ski, and unbalancing them even more. Because he has the strength to move mountains but decides that keeping his legs together is too hard. ]
overstrain: * (pic#5531550)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-12 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's really the mundane stuff that are so much of a hassle. Terry would agree, but right now, he's trying to keep them balanced after Minato lifts his foot slightly off the water. AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa ]

Put your foot down! Minato!!

[ Okay he's screaming now ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-12 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh. Alright, Minato does as instructed, putting his foot down again but the angle is wrong and now they slip under the water—- it only lasts for a split second, though, barely enough to get their ankles wet before the jump rope tugs at their arms straight up, Vassago up high in the air so they don't fall completely into the water.

His shoulder hurts... ]
overstrain: * (pic#13280447)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-12 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the wrong--

[ The rest is muffled underwater as Terry spits out the water that he nearly swallowed once he's above the surface. He feels so gross...

Anyway, he unties the jump rope from Minato's arm, but keeps his own free arm around Minato's waist to hold him up and not fall. He can't help but laugh over how much of a disaster this was.
]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-12 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Minato lets himself be complete dead weight since Terry's so kind as to hold onto him, and his glance flicks up at him for a second, and then at Vassago, and then the three of them are going up and up and up. Minato's decided that he enjoys sky diving more than he does water skiing, and the fall should dry them off so it's a win-win. ]
overstrain: * (pic#5531540)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-12 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... ... ...

Terry is suddenly Worried.
]

... Why are we still going up...?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-12 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it. We'll be going down soon.

[ Just calm down and let Vassago hurtle them through the air. He won't even let them free fall— if Terry keeps a hold of that rope, Vassago's going to zoom straight down into the water too, disappearing before he can get wet but the same can't be said for Minato and Terry. Like canon-balling in the pool. It'll be fun, probably. ]
