The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ The ones you can ride into battle. A Newfoundland. They're sweet and would keep him from dying but too bad he can't have a real one. ]

Is that because you want to use them as a bed or because you want to ride them?

You'd need to be properly strapped in so you don't fall off while asleep though. You wouldn't want to fall off while he catches a squirrel or something.

[ He'll just have to find a bear to ride into battle, then, and hope Terry doesn't book his pet. ]

.......There are cats that grow to be pretty big, right? The ones in the mountains?

[ he thinks. ]

I suppose we could take a camping trip to the mountains to find one.

With a campfire and a picnic?

[ Cats are forgotten, food is more important ]

Sure. That sounds like fun.

[ souji is actually half-serious about this. ]

We could leave a note saying that we're taking a small vacation. They can probably handle themselves for a few days.

[ Minato is fully serious about this, because yeah, it's not like anybody died (permanently) before the attendants arrived, so Minato's sure they'll be fine. Imagine them just hecking off all of September haha. He's really looking forward to being able to sleep for several days with zero obligations, like he'd been doing for 23509853579 years already but he still misses it. ]

Yeah, they'll be fine. If they need anything, they have Akira.

Mm, I believe in Akira.

[ they should absolutely just take a camping trip out of nowhere, laughs. maybe disappear and make it back just in time for the dungeon so they can be useful but before or after that, they're gone. ]

[ after minato cooks him that hopefully delicious donkatsu so then souji will be like well, okay, he made through on his end so i'll just cook everything for the picnic. ]

[ Minato will cook him an edible donkatsu provided that nobody touches the stirfry. ]

Alright. I'm ready to go whenever, so you can just wake me up.

[ He'll be lounging around on a couch as usual, not even bothering to comb out his bedhead while claiming that he's ready, since... there's not really anything for him to do, if Souji says he'll handle everything else. Maybe he'll make a mental note to pack some boar meat to bait mountain lions with. ]

[ souji does say that he'll handle everything so he lets minato sleep after he finishes cooking the boar meat the next day and takes over the kitchen to prepare for the picnic. he was originally just going to take simple fruit or sandwiches since that's not technically cooking, but minato followed through so now souji has to show his end of the bargain. he makes some elaborate bento boxes that are more suited for picnics underneath blossoming sakura trees and some onigiris and sandwiches for later down the line. he packs them, the bottle of juice that was meant to replace the one in terry's room but nah, and the tarp away into a nice duffle bag. he sets out some food for the cats, writes a note ('gone camping °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖° back in a few days') to stick on the conductor's cab door, and then goes to wake up minato. ]

Hey.

[ he'll sit on the armrest of the couch as he reaches down to poke minato on the cheek. ]

[ Cooking takes more out of a person than Minato would have thought, never liking the heat much so having to stand in front of a stove or oven for hours at a time was draining. And now he has to go outside in the summer heat and use his own legs to walk and he almost doesn't want to open his eyes but he does anyways, so he doesn't sit up the wrong way and poke himself in the eye on Souji's finger. ]

Mm, hey. Everything all set? ...You don't think they'll die, do you?

[ He wants to trust their Guests, he really does. But... just look at them. They're hopeless. ]

[ souji takes back his hand. ]

Mm, we won't be gone for long. I'm sure they'll manage to keep themselves alive until we return.

[ lmfao good fucking luck, everyone. ]

Plus, like you said, they have Akira for anything.

[ Minato and Souji, watching the next dungeon reveal itself: hm ]

...Yeah. Wish I could do more for them, but it just means they can manage on their own.

[ He stretches his back out before getting off the couch, smoothing out the leg of his pants instead of bothering with his hair.

They were fine for a whole month without him and Souji, they can be fine for another week. ]

Okay, let's go. I can carry the food.

[ they need those children leashes on everyone so they can try to keep them from hurting themselves but this just happens instead. ]

Try not to eat it all in one go. It should last you the next few days.

[ he'll hold out the bag that contains all the food that he prepared. with a hand free, he'll try to smooth down minato's hair for him. ]

[ lmfao god they're going to have to leash everybody and then hang them from a high tree ]

I have a bag of cereal bars I stole from Terrence just in case. How many days are we staying?

[ He says as Souji does his best smoothing down his hair but it'll always stubbornly stick up in the back. Minato's already peeking in the bag to see what Souji made, if there's anything he can sneak a bite of. It'd be nice to go out and see the world, but there's also something very alluring about a nice velvet couch that'll always draw him back. ]

[ honestly, i can see them just setting the tree on fire and perishing in the flames. nothing is a foolproof plan with these guests. ]

That depends on how long you want to stay out.

[ and how long it'd take to find a mountain lion if there even is one around. souji personally doesn't have a preference for how long they'll be out camping. he wrote that it'd be a few days on the note as a precaution so they can take as long or as short as they want. he'll continue to try and smooth down the rest of minato's hair. he'll never manage to get that back part down... in the meanwhile, minato can find some sandwiches near the top of the bag. he may have one or two. ]

[ laughs, i can imagine that too well, trying to burn the leashes but instead just burning everything down with them

But cool, sandwiches are something he can eat with one hand while he carries the bag with the other, so he gets out his pre-trip snack while exiting the Velvet Room. You know, so he doesn't collapse before they even get to the mountain. ]

Until we find a mountain lion. Or somebody dies back here. Whichever comes first.

[ "A couple days," we'll see which happens first. Honestly, it could go either way. ]

[ at what certain point do the attendants have to keep caring. if the guests keep doing this to themselves, could they really be stopped?? ]

Assuming that we'd even know about it. For all we know, they could burn down the Velvet Room and themselves and we wouldn't be any wiser.

[ and souji follows behind minato, closing the door behind him. they're somewhere in the middle of the mountains and without any idea where to go. hm, maybe they should head uphill? cats like high places, right? vantage points and all that so souji will start to lead up. it's probably some time in the evening right now after minato made that boar meal and souji had to ready everything for this trip. ]

[ Goodbye, Velvet Room, Minato hopes it still exists when they get back.

The moment they step foot outside, Minato starts to regret the trip already, because of course mountains means walking uphill, and it's worse than stairs because there's no level surface to stop and rest, it's just uphill all the time. It'd be easy to just summon Vassago or someone to carry them, but it also defeats the purpose of having a day with just the two of them. Maybe Vassago would scare the mountain lions away, who knows.

Minato puts a hand at the side of his mouth and makes that weird noise that's supposed to be a cat but he sounds more like a fox. Here kitty, kitty, come out. ]

[ souji is doing just fine with walking uphill. it's kind of nice, actually, to do something new(?) asides from just staying inside the velvet room. exploring seems kind of fun. ]

[ i tried to find p3 screenshots for the "is that a fox" "it's a cat, dammit" but i couldn't find it, laughs ]

Yeah.

[ Minato answers without missing a beat, and he unsuccessfully meows again although he frowns a little more. ]

I don't really know what a mountain lion sounds like. Sorta like talking with people: you shout into the void and hope something out there understands.

[ This is how he communicates with people, anyways. He doesn't get them, so he says whatever the heck and hope somebody reciprocates.
