The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ But that's not something important, is it? It is to Minato, but not to Terry. ]

Being strong so you can protect everybody is a good thing, but it's unreasonable for you to fight and nobody else. I mean, you can do it, and make everybody stay home. Things happen, and you can't be everywhere at once.

[ It's not something Minato has to say twice, because Terry's already lived through that. He gets it. Terry wants to be able to take care of everything so nobody else has to— but they have to. Sometimes, it's easier to fight by yourself, but sometimes it's harder. ]

You're plenty strong already. Why not work on teamwork or something?

[overstrain]

[ Well, I mean. Terry does think he's good at cooking, but cooking won't save his friends in a Dungeon. This isn't some Tales or Atelier series. ]

When I'm with other people, sometimes I tell them to do stuff so that they won't feel like dead weight, but... that also didn't work out the way I would have liked it to.

[ ... ]

Does that mean I should just carry someone all throughout the Dungeon and only have them tell me stuff without doing anything else? I feel stuck.

[ What if someday one of the demons challenges Terry to a cooking contest? It could happen. ]

[ Which is fine. Minato gets why he does it. ]

Before going into the rest of that... Do you like people, Terrence?

... Yeah, that's why I didn't want to say it out loud.

[ He feels guilty about it, but what else can he do!! That's what he's trying to figure out. He does admit that he can't do everything by himself though... ]

But usually, yeah. I like people generally. Why?

[ But not a reason. Minato doesn't offer anything more about that, though, and just moves on to a different but related question: ]

Some do, some don't. The rest probably don't care.

[ Terry doesn't see where Minato is going with this though. ]

[ It's a fair and reasonable answer, one that gets Minato to nod his head slowly ]

If I were to go to the dungeon with you, and just stand around doing nothing, how would you feel about that?

[ Dead weight, even though he can take care of himself without Terry needing to worry about his safety. ]

... Then why come in the first place?

Though Minato not doing anything sounds like the standard, so he doesn't really think about it much. ]

[ He's there to have fun, not to work. ]

What if somebody else just wanted to tag along and hang out?

[ Maybe they'll die, maybe they won't, but if Terry's eradicating everything on the floor either way, it shouldn't matter, right? ]

... That depends?

[ He thinks about the people here and if they would actually just want to tag along and hang out. At a Dungeon. Freezing temperatures. Dangerous monsters.

He can't think of anyone. Kano doesn't count because he didn't want to come anyway. ]

On what?

[ ...Though it's true, yeah, not many people would go to the dungeons just to hang out, aside from Minato and also Kano who are both weirdos who have different reasons for it. ]

[overstrain]

On who because... realistically, from what I know of, there aren't many Persona users here anymore and from the ones I do know more personally, they won't just go into the Dungeon just to hang out.

[ At least, he thinks so...? ]

...Yeah, there's less than half of you guys left, now, even with more coming in. Maybe they'd want to hang out if you ask them? People you don't know personally, even. Dungeons are a cool place to hang out, right...?

[ It's so fascinating down there, Terry, don't you think so?? ]

If I have to deal with swimming through poisonous lakes, suffering from near frostbite, getting cut by literal blades of grass, bleeding all over some sadistic bear, and throw horses into the sky... I'd rather work to do all that so that my trip doesn't feel like a waste. If they can come to hang out by going through hazardous condition, I'd question them what's wrong with their head.

[ He just has dead eyes from all this. If Terrence "i do reckless shit to feel alive" Nowell has to question what's wrong with people, then... maybe they're beyond saving. ]

But it's okay if it's me.

[ It's funny to Minato, because all of that sounds like a terrible time, but he'd just be hanging back watching Terry go through all of it if they were to go together. Besides, it's been a month. He would've thought people would have found the ways to keep from being poisoned, not be cold, protect themselves from the knife grass, etc etc already. They were never supposed to be hard puzzles, and people have gotten to the last floor without being about to fly or go 80mph, so it's not impossible. For Minato, those sorts of puzzles are kind of fun, but maybe he's beyond saving. ]

[ If Terry ever gets dropped into a death escape room without his powers, he will unsurprisingly die first. Just letting you know. ]

[ And Terry is just like this. Maybe Minato shouldn't push it anymore... He leans forward again, far enough to touch his toes and hear his back pop. ]

The fourth floor would be a bit of a challenge for me since physical attacks don't really work. I'd have to prepare if I'm going by myself.

That's fine, you'll have time to prepare. Let me borrow Vassago for a couple days. I'll hold onto your omamori.

[ He holds his hand out for it. Gimme. ]

[ He gives Minato his hand that doesn't have the omamori.

... ]

I'll give it to you before the next midnight phase.

[ So that I don't mess up timelines and Kano would actually fall to his death without Vassago being there. ]

[ ...Minato takes Terry's hand and shakes it. This works. ]

[ Lounging on the couch, wondering how long he'll be able to bum around before he gets kicked out. ]

[ Stares into the sky, do Velvet Room attendants sweat........... Either way, Minato takes Terry's question as a backhanded nudge to get out, but he doesn't want to. It's nice sleeping here where it's quiet and there's no music running through his head all the time. ]
