NPC CONTACT

premisetakenfaqnavigation

The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS

🢒🢒 minato

The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji

The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Okay. Be right back.

[ He trots off to his own room, with the half-filled closet and empty floor, and comes back with this thing because it's the only one with an image I already had on hand. It's P3's executioner's axe, and there's blood rusted all over the blades on both ends. ]

Here.

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-08 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Terry stares at the axe as he takes it, eyeing the rusted blood on both ends of the blade. What the fuck. ]

... Did you kill someone with this a long time ago?

[ Why else would there be blood?? Shadows don't bleed!! ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-08 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. Maybe.

[ He really doesn't know, but it's still very possible, because that sure is old human blood that's been there for so long, he couldn't scrub it off without also chipping off pieces of the metal. At least the edges are still very sharp, so it can be used to behead people humanely. ]

Is it okay?
overstrain: * (pic#13294437)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-08 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's fine. I was just curious.

[ He has no morals against killing people he doesn't care about, so he'll just leave it at that and take the axe with him to the forest in the rain.

...

He comes back a while later, coming with several logs of wood with the axe. Though he has to ditch the axe at the portal because super strength is no longer a thing in the Velvet Room and he doesn't want to cause an accident with it. He dumps the logs on the table and then brings the axe back into the room.
]

Is this enough?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-08 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ There's the feeling that this isn't the first time Terry's indirectly called him fat. How much wood does he think they'll need to hold Minato's weight?? ]

Looks like enough... But you'd know better than me, I think.

[ Minato sifts through the pile to lay the logs out side by side, trying to estimate how many planks they'll be able to get out of the pile and how big a raft would be. They'll also have to bind everything together with the rope they still haven't found, and he's starting to think it would have been easier to just take the bathroom door and put it back later. ]
overstrain: * (pic#13294437)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-08 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
... I don't know anything about woodworking or whatever that's supposed to be.

[ He just stares at the logs for a moment. ]

Maybe we can... can it in half vertically and strap your feet to them?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-08 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Minato doesn't have a TV so Terry still knows more than him. But this... maybe looks like it might work? He doesn't know for sure, but a possibility is still good enough for him. ]

Let's try it out. If it doesn't work, we'll think of something else. I'll go try to find rope while you do that.
overstrain: * (pic#13280452)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-08 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Terry nods and looks back at the logs. He takes one with the axe and splits it in half once he goes outside. After coming back, he looks at the other logs.

...

Looks like he didn't need them, after all.
]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ First the bears, now we're unnecessarily killing trees (':

Minato takes a little longer to come back, but when he does, it's with an assortment of rope-like objects for Terry to choose from. ]

Okay... Which do you think would work best?

[ There's a plain black belt, three pairs of shoe laces Minato definitely pulled out of shoes, a white silk scarf, a cord that used to be connected to something but it's just insulated wiring at the end now, a plastic jump rope, and a roll of duct tape Minato supposes they can wrap around his feet to tape them in place if they can't find suitable rope. ]
overstrain: * (pic#13366929)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
For the feet, we can use the belt and the cord. Those seem the strongest. We can use the jump rope for me pulling you along. The duct tape can be used for good measure.

[ Yeah!! This is what he has decided, and he has no idea what he's doing, but yolo. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Okay.

[ Minato goes ahead and steps onto the the wood, roughly in the center and picks up the belt. The belt, at least, has the holes right there to keep the belt from unraveling, as weak as it is. The cord is kind of stiff and might be hard to tie in a knot, so Minato leaves that to Terry while he tapes up the one foot. ]

I'll tape your hand to the jump rope so you won't let go either.
overstrain: * (pic#5531548)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
... Sure.

[ He wasn't planning on letting go, but that's fine if it helps Minato relax. Terry lowers himself while getting the cord and half of a log to tie it around Minato's other foot. Please don't kick him. Or kick his face to get another memory. ]

This cord is pretty stiff... I'll probably have to use duct tape for this too.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ If it was bare feet, Minato might have kicked him, but he's decided to leave his shoes on in case of splinters this time.

He nods and hands the roll over after he wraps his foot ten times around with the tape. Probably didn't even need the belt, but it's extra insurance, like him taping their hands to the jump rope because if Minato falls, he's going to take Terry down with him. ]
overstrain: * (pic#13294416)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ Minato just goes all the way when he can, huh... Terry looks at the belt log, which has been wrapped 10 times with duct tape. That's... so unnecessary. ]

Hold on, if the tape chunk is too wide, it might block off how water skis are supposed to go.

[ Does Terry know water physics? No. But after tying the cord tight, he'll apply some duct tape on that foot too. Not ten times, but... it's something. ]

At least, if you fall for some reason, you won't sink.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Um...

[ Minato flops over onto his side so he can reach for the axe while keeping his feet still so he doesn't smack Terry in the face. ]

It won't fall apart 'cause it's sticky, so maybe you can use this to shave off the extra bits. Make it more aerodynamic, or something.

[ Just... imagine the wad of tape as more wood and chisel it down into the right shape and do your best not to chop off any toes ]
overstrain: * (pic#5531545)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ UM...............

Terry looks so bewildered at the sight of the axe because of what Minato is asking him to do.
]

I can't do any shaving for anything with that huge axe!! Axes are made to chop stuff, not shave things!

[ AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa he'll just use his scissors instead. Yeah, those healing scissors. At least they still work like normal ones as he trims some of the tape off. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ He could hold the axe still and move Minato's foot up and down to shave the tape off! It made sense in Minato's head and he would have tried it if he were in Terry's shoes, but the scissors are a nice surprise and infinitely more practical. ]

Whoa. Fancy. I though you were more of a knife guy?
overstrain: * (pic#13280467)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
... Yeah.

[ Terry huffs once he calms down. He puts them away in his pocket once he's done and helps Minato stand up. ]

It was passed onto me, so of course it doesn't suit me.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's really weird trying to walk with skis taped onto his feet and maybe they should have done this outside, but he takes a few test steps and he thinks he'll be able to manage until they find enough water. ]

What if you made one edge serrated? The outside, so the center can still snip. But you can stab and saw with it too.

[ Now that he thinks about it, scissors are superior than knives, aren't they? It's like two knives. ]
overstrain: * (pic#5531541)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, uh... they're supposed to be used for healing the user, so making them serrated sounds really painful.

[ He doesn't want to stab himself with a serrated pair of scissors just to heal himself!! ]

Anyway, you can make a portal to the lake, right? So you won't have to walk that much with log feet.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ They're supposed to be for what?? Minato would question him on this, if he weren't also aware that he can shoot himself in the head with a gun and summon a Persona, so he can't talk about the unexpected utility of weapons. ]

I can make one to the closest building to the lake, sure, but not in the middle of nowhere or anything. I guess that'd be... The school? That's pretty close.

[ It may or may not be the closest building, but it's one that Minato knows well and doesn't have to think too hard on locations and things. ]

Let me go out first so I don't stab you in the back of the legs or something...
overstrain: * (pic#5531551)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ If Minato asks, he can get a demonstration... Terry nods when he mentions the school. ]

I can carry you. Just don't kick me.

[ He grabs the other materials and is ready to pick him up. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh, nice. Minato gets warnings but Kido doesn't.

He nods his promise not to kick, but doesn't do anything else but stand still because he's assuming Terry will just put him over his shoulder and walk out like that. ]
overstrain: * (pic#5531552)

[personal profile] overstrain 2019-10-09 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ Truthfully, he also likes seeing Kido's surprised face, so that might play a part...

Terry carries Minato longcat-style and walks out the portal. It's still raining and there's a good amount of water on the ground. He looks back at the school building before walking over to where the lake is.
]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-10-09 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ lmfao she would punch him if she knew

But it's true that Minato doesn't really react much, so he can be boring sometimes. He makes sure to keep relaxed and floppy, like a ragdoll cat, and lets Terry carry him all the way over to the lake with zero indication of wanting to stand on his own. It's nice being tall...

Since it's still pretty early on in the month, the lake hasn't flooded over yet, but the water from everywhere else in town is draining towards it, so Terry should watch his step. ]

So how does water skiing work? I just have to stand and try not to fall?
