The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Trying to sleep, anyways. Minato mumbles something that sounds like "Go away, Souji." but it's pretty muffled into his pillow. ]

[Another gentle shake.]

It's Sasuke, not Souji.

[ Oh. If it's not Souji, then Minato makes the effort to roll over onto his back, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. ]

Morning...

[ Regardless of what time of day it is. ]

What do you want? [ Uh- ] I mean. What can I do for you?

I was checking to see if you wanted to look around town.

[...]

If you want to sleep right now, I can just come back later.

Oh... Sure, yeah, we can go. There's really no good time, 'cause I'm going to be sleeping usually anyways, so it's whenever is convenient for you.

[ Terry did not get this same treatment... But mostly because that guy bums around the Velvet Room too much already anyways, he can stand to wait.

Yawning into his shoulder, Minato sits up and stretches out his legs. ]

Anywhere particular you want to go? I can take us right there.

That's convenient.

[But hmm...]

How about Hirajiro, then? We can start in front of the school.

[ The school... alright. Minato nods and trudges off towards the car in the back, opening a portal in Sasuke's room that connects with the gate in front of the school— inside campus, instead of on the other side. ]

Go ahead first, I'll follow.

[ What time of day is it...? There really is no time in the Velvet Room, so nap time is all the time. ]

[Late afternoon! Between that and the day of the week, no one's really at the school at the moment, meaning it's pretty easy to show up undetected.

...Sasuke's still cautious as he steps out though, looking around to make sure no one's noticed. But as expected, it's pretty empty.]

[ Best keep quiet, Minato agrees when he blinks several times to adjust to the sunlight, because once after school clubs wrap up, the guards will be out on patrol making sure nobody lingers. ]

So this is the school, huh...? I'm kinda sad I missed the festival, but did you have a good time there?

Yeah. The school festival was... interesting.

[Wow, that sounds totally unenthusiastic. So he'll add:]

It was my first time going to one.

[ "Interesting," huh? Minato smiles a little at that, because "interesting" is about the most polite thing you can say when it's not actually that great. ]

Well, new experiences tend to be interesting. The novelty's fun, even if everything else isn't...

[ He's a mumbler when talking while distracted, craning his head up to count the floors and looking around at the three buildings to see how they're set up. ]

I wonder if I've ever been to one.

[Sasuke follows his gaze.]

...Do you want to see if we can get in?

[If the lock's not too complicated, he might be able to manage it...]

Yeah. I want to see all your favorite places.

[ If he has any. But at least the lock isn't too complicated, since it's just a school building and not a bank or anything that merits the extra security. ]

I don't really... [Have favorite places. But that just sounds bad, doesn't it?]

I'm still not used to this place yet. [Sure. Good enough.] But if there's things you're interested in, we can look.

[He'll go check out the door, pulling out a couple wires - Sasuke why. But he does manage to pick the lock after a moment. Seems he hasn't lost all the skills he learned when training to be a ninja.

He'll hold it open, nodding to Minato. Go on in.]

[ Yeah. He can at least show Minato a favorite deserted corner under the stairs or something, he's not really picky.

Minato keeps a close eye on Sasuke as he picks the lock— he's learning— and steps in first when Sasuke opens the door for him.

Shoe lockers.

Wordlessly, he wanders up and down the rows, peering into each cubby hole. ]

Outdoor shoes are okay if nobody catches us, right...

As long as we don't make a mess.

[And he's not super worried about that with Minato, for now. He'll quietly begin walking towards the halls.]

You really don't remember anything like this?

[ He shakes his head, taking his sweet time looking around, reading everything he can off the posters on the walls and counting the number of doors in each hall, as if this is the only chance he'll ever have to go to school and he has to commit everything to memory right here and now. ]

No, nothing. I guess... it's the sort of place people go to every day, so maybe that's why the inpact isn't enough to trigger anything. Or maybe I never went. I dunno.

[That's fine. Sasuke can wait.]

...Are you trying to get them back? Your memories.

[ ...That's a good question. Minato pulls away from where he was inspecting a spot of dirt on the wall. ]

I dunno... I'd be fine without them, since it's nothing different than how I am now. Terrence was trying to find stuff out for us, but...

[ He shakes his head. ]

I don't want people to go out of their way for something like this, I guess. You all have more important things to worry about.

You mean the Shadows?

[He'll just keep himself tucked against a wall so he's not as visible as he could be.]

Shadows are important, I guess...

[ But not... the most important thing, he'd say. He turns down the hall, letting the tips of his fingers trail on the wall next to him. ]

What is your main objective right now?

[Good question. Sasuke will follow, content to let Minato look around wherever he decides to.]

...I don't know. I'm just trying to find out why we're here.

[If you don't know the objective, the first step is determining that... probably.]

I can't do much besides that.

[ Minato hums softly in acknowlegement. They're all starting to piece together what's going on, even if they're at the beginning stages of it all, but sooner or later, the larger question is going to become the "why" ]

That's a good goal. Broad, easy to break down. What's expected of you... why you guys specifically... whether the reason is something you agree with or not... Things will come together if you keep going.

...It sounds like we're already getting casualties.

[In various senses of the word.]

Some people are... not exactly unconscious. But they barely move or talk. Do you know what causes that?

...Yeah.

[ He lets his hand drop from the wall, and turns to Sasuke. ]

Damage to the psyche can do that. A traumatic experience that's enough of a shock... But it's not impossible to recover from that.

[ The townspeople all did. The ones with the omamori... well. It's not impossible. ]
