The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Nekogami can tell... It's why he loves Kido and Souji and everybody else sucks. ]

Personas can have their own preferences and personalities. They're only a part of you, after all.

[ Ghhhh... Terry just stares at the ceiling. Vassago sure has a personality too. He doesn't doubt that. ]

I wonder why Personas take on the form that they do... Dragons don't really hold a place in my life.

Hm... Who knows? Dragons are cool, so I wonder why yours is a dragon.

[ There's more he could explain about the subject, but it ties back to a really old homework assignment he doesn't feel like bringing up again. ]

[ That's probably for the best... ]

Yeah. It's not like I'm cool or anything.

[ He just states that like a fact, the same tone he'd use for "my hair is black". It could have always been a man riding on a gator... what could have been... ]

I dunno any symbolism either. Kinda like how yours is called the Messiah.

[ Is Minato jesus??? ]

Dragon symbolism is different throughout the world, but "Vassago" is sorta set, huh? "Messiah" is a lot too, but...

[ I guess he can remember dying again now, the continuation of an earlier memory but now he knows how it ends, falling quiet and staring at the ground. ]

[ Terry turns his head to look over at Minato. ]

But...?

But past me sort of died to save the world, so I guess it's Messiah.

[ He doesn't look too sure, but mostly it's because he looks groggy, like he'd just woken up from a bad dream. ]

Maybe a dragon's a future thing for you, I dunno.

[ Oh.

Terry takes a moment to think about this. But he can't really picture Minato going out and actually doing something--being active--because of how he knows the present Minato. ]

Maybe this whole Velvet Room Attendant thing you're doing is like semi-retirement for you.

[ It makes sense in his head. ]

So you know all about the pasts, but not the future, huh?

[ He pokes the side of Minato's head because why is he so groggy... Is this a default state of being?? ]

[ If only Terry knew Minato's version of saving the world was him giving the moon the middle finger and then going to sleep

He mumbles a little, leaning away from Terry's finger, because he always feels slightly out of it every time he's hit with something from the past. It's sort of like Terry's pinpointing, but worse because he can't choose when and what to see. ]

You guys are a lot more trouble than whatever the hell I got up to in past lives. You'd think a gazillion years would qualify for full retirement... Anyways, I know barely anything about the past and nothing about the future. I'm an Attendant. I'm not supposed to have either.

I meant us, the Guests, but...

[ Good to know?! Terry seems a little concerned though. If only Terry could save his own world by doing just that too. ]

Isn't that because it's just not yourself anymore? Like how you have to think about all of us now.

[ Minato closes his eyes for a moment, like he wants to go back to sleep, but then forces his eyes open again. ]

I don't know anything about your pasts or your futures.

[ Those sorts of things don't matter to him, as much as the present does. But it's true that there's so much more to consider now, like suddenly being left with a dozen puppies and they're running around everywhere eating things they're not supposed to and you're so ill-prepared to handle them. It's that sort of feeling. ]

But yeah... For Guests... I'm supposed to help out the collective whole. Whatever it is you want to do. If you guys don't want to fight anymore, you don't have to. If you guys want to focus on the dungeons, we'll support you. Just whatever you guys want. But you're not making it easy, 'cause you're all over the place. It's hard to help that way.

Yeah, since there's only two of you...

Wait a minute. ]

Hold on. You don't?! Then how did you know about the...

[ ... ]

[ With this face, Minato is great at playing dumb. Want to talk about it? Gotta say it. ]

The thing you said before you decided you wanted to leave my house and saying that you were gonna avoid me forever.

I'm a gazillion years old, Terrence. Gotta jog my memory on that.

[ Goddammit, Minato. ]

I know you remember! You had such a smug look on your face when you said it too! You said shit about locking people up and trapping them somewhere with no way out and--

[ He simmers down after reaching a high point, because it got way too hot again. ]

[ Minato smiles a little despite being yelled at. It's kind of nice; Souji rarely yells at him. ]

...I was talking about me and the train. I was really looking forward to being able to get out, but before coming here... it felt like that. Being locked up. Going nowhere. Having nothing to do. Like there was no point for me to keep existing, but I wanted to keep existing for Souji.

[ It's nowhere near as traumatic as Terry's experience, but a gazillion years is a hell of a long time to be confined to a train with zero indication of anything in the world around them. Getting to see the world outside has been nice. He doesn't want to be confined ever again either. ]

[ With Minato's answer, Terry feels absolutely drained. He sympathizes with Minato when he says that, even though the circumstances and situations were very different. If Terry had been in the same situation alone, his brain probably would have rot and he'd be so empty with no mental stimulation whatsoever in the train.

He thinks about the current situation next after calming down. ]

When the weather gets better, let's go somewhere. I heard they got some new game over at the arcade that's impossible to get to the last level.

[ Not being alone was a blessing... Minato thinks he could probably sleep for the first million years, but a gazillion? He'd probably start finding ways to off himself because he doesn't want to live like that. ]

Okay. But we can go out even if it's raining. It's just water.

[ It's cold and gross but it's still something new— he gets to see a flood for the first time, he gets to be bonked on the head with hail, there are a lot of cool things associated with it, which he can think because he doesn't have a house or anything to be inconvenienced over. ]

[ Hmmmm... It's just water, huh? Well, for someone like Minato, yeah. That's all it is. But what if... ]

Minato, have you ever gone water skiing before?

[ A bazillion years in a train, and no ocean here. ]

[ Terry almost snorts and just opts for laughing instead. It's just been constantly raining, so he figures he could do something with it that's fun. Rain is so gloomy... ]

The ground is wet enough with lots of water, if not, there are some deep puddles. Let's go water skiing.

[ If... Terry can stop having 1 HP and 0 SP. He looks over at Minato. ]

Can I get healed first? Then we can find a rope and a board that you can stand on.

[ Hmm. Asking if Minato's ever water skied before is a bad enough joke, so he has Nekogami use dia on Terry a couple of times. It's a slower process than an instant salvation, but Minato has enough magic reserve that he doesn't care about the inefficiency. ]

I dunno about water skiing on puddles, but there's always the lake too?

[ Unless Terry is playing the role of the boat. Because if he is, Minato's going to tell him that's a stupid idea. He'll still play along, but it's stupid. ]

[ Maybe if Terry runs fast enough, he can run on water (no). ]

You won't get poisoned by the water?

[ Terry looks surprised. He knows Kido can't, and well... maybe he can just keep equipping Nekogami or something. ]

[ Does heavy metal make water dense enough to run on?? Not enough. But yeah, Minato can just keep equipping Nekogami if he doesn't want to be poisoned, but also ]

Yeah I will.

[ He just doesn't care. ]

It's no different than how I usually feel, and I can heal myself, so it doesn't matter.
