The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[ Terry glances over at Minato when he asks the question and looks back forward, not meeting Minato's eyes. ]

... I understand him, but that's exactly the problem. If he was a mystery, I already solved it a long time ago. Despite that, I don't ever want to acknowledge the result. Vassago showing up always shoves that unwanted result in my face when I end up having to think about what he represents. I hate it.

[ The longer he talks, the more spiteful his voice gets. Pure, unbridled hate drips from it. ]

I'd rather die than accept him, since accepting him would mean that I die anyway. "I" won't be here anymore if I do. If I'm going to die either way, at least give me the choice to die as myself.

That's selfish.

[ But not a bad thing. Minato gets the feeling, every time he remembers something of a past life and he takes on qualities of this other Minato that lived once upon a time, and eventually, "he" won't exist anymore. Not as himself. He doesn't fight it, though, because he's selfish. ]

But I want to help. There'll be a time where you'll have to face this again. You'll have to fight. And I won't be there. If you plan to reject him, promise me you won't go into the fighting thinking you'll die.

[ Terry laughs, though it sounds like more air than his voice. It's a little broken and hollow. He feels drained, so he flops back on the ground onto his back next to Minato. ]

I don't go picking fights thinking that I'll end up dying as an end result, so... yeah. I'll promise you that much.

[ If he does end up dying due to miscalculations, well... he tried...? But he closes his eyes. ]

You probably know this already, but as long as I drink blood every now and then, I won't die. As long as it's not my own, anyway. I'll be fine. Despite me saying what I said earlier, I won't actually die...

Not physically, maybe...

[ But the way Terry laughed just then, it feels like he's been in the process of dying for all this time. If he hollows out too much, he'll end up like Minato, and that's just about the worst thing there would be. He doesn't want that to happen, and he doesn't want Terry to die. He was kind of hoping they become friends, and stay that way for a long time. ]

How's the blood drinking coming along?

[ Subdivided AU Minato made another vampire blood tofu, would this work for Terry?? ]

[ Aw, MInato... Terry will stay your friend no matter what you do... :) As long as whatever form is mostly blood, it'll work. He can eat rock crystals made from blood and that would work too, but he finds that as a hassle, so he might as well just drink it and get it over with. ]

I only need to drink it when I'm nearly running out, so...

[ Hm. ]

I don't need any right now. It still makes me sick when I drink it though.

[ Living is painful. ]

[ Minato nods, because yeah, drinking blood feels kind of gross and he'd probably feel sick at the thought of it too. ]

Do you have to drink it, or can you inject it or something?

[ Do what druggies do when they have no patience for taking things by mouth ]

I need to take it by the mouth, so I need to drink it.

[ Blood transfusions don't help his lifespan, unfortunately. He also hates needles, so don't make him take too many shots. He'll die on the inside even more. ]

Oh. ...In the Nordic countries, they make blood pancakes. Want to try someday?

[ aka Minato wants to try, and he needs somebody to make it happen. New experiences, or whatever ]

[ I had to google what blood pancakes were and I read a tidbit that I'm not sure I can ever unsee again...

Terry closes his eyes again and pinpoints what the heck those are. Since he's still exhausted, he's just silent for thirty seconds before he speaks up again. Admittedly, he's also curious in how it'll taste. ]

I guess we can eat bear meat alongside it.

[ While Terry had his eyes closed for so long, Minato assumed he'd nodded off and is kind of surprised when he speaks again, jolted awake from the beginnings of his own nap and bumping the back of his head against the ground. ]

Oh. Yeah, that'd be efficient. I ended up wasting a lot of blood last time I butchered something in your room.

[ Sorry... But Souji was kind enough to clean everything up, and hopefully he'd gotten all the stains. ]

[ ...

Now that Terry is more relaxed, he feels the heat in the surroundings and it's suddenly hot. This sucks. His mind was off it even when he was moving around, generating heat, but no. NOW has to be the time when he notices. ]

Why do you do so much in my room...

I didn't want to get the lounge dirty...

[ He could say something about liking Terry's room more than his own, which is largely just a half filled closet and empty floor space, but... no. ]

I guess it's 'cause it's a "lively" room? You're always coming in and out of it, so the floor's going to be worn down anyways.

So you want to wear down the floor even more... doesn't that mean you'll need to replace the flooring eventually?

[ He starts fanning himself now. ]

It's hot... [ whine ]

Everything in that train's been worn for hundreds and thousands of years. If you invest in high quality goods, you pay for durability.

[ He did not pay for any of this, though, and everything gets fixed up by magic or by Souji anyways. But when Terry mentions being hot, Minato silently calls for Nekogami, who comes out with a temperature drop of ten degrees and drapes himself over the back of Terry's neck and shoulders to be a portable AC. ]

Right. You're old.

[ He wanted to retort with the age Minato gave that one time, but he can't remember the number, so. ]

Gazillion years old kind of old.

[ Ughhh. Bongogami, it's been so long even if you wanted to hurt him before on several occasions. He attempts to pet him and feels relaxed by the temperature drop. ]

Yep. Gazillion years old.

[ Minato can't remember the numbers either, because I can't remember what thread it was and don't want to go look for it to remember.

When Terry attempts to pet Nekogami, he turns from solid into ghost and Terry's hand just passes through what feels like mist. Even when summoned by Minato, Nekogami's kind of particular. ]

...He doesn't let me pet him either. Loves Souji, though.

Wow, Nekogami... what's with this discrimination??

[ Why can't he pet the kitty... but it's fine. He should have expected something like this. He'll just enjoy the cooling sensation while it lasts. ]

He says it's because you're weird.

[ Haha. ]

How am I weird?! Doesn't that mean he thinks you're weird too??

[ BONGOGAMI, NO... ]

You just are. He thinks I'm weird too, and same for Souji. He probably gets a pass 'cause he sincerely loves cats.

[ Nekogami can tell... It's why he loves Kido and Souji and everybody else sucks. ]

Personas can have their own preferences and personalities. They're only a part of you, after all.

[ Ghhhh... Terry just stares at the ceiling. Vassago sure has a personality too. He doesn't doubt that. ]

I wonder why Personas take on the form that they do... Dragons don't really hold a place in my life.

Hm... Who knows? Dragons are cool, so I wonder why yours is a dragon.

[ There's more he could explain about the subject, but it ties back to a really old homework assignment he doesn't feel like bringing up again. ]

[ That's probably for the best... ]

Yeah. It's not like I'm cool or anything.

[ He just states that like a fact, the same tone he'd use for "my hair is black". It could have always been a man riding on a gator... what could have been... ]

I dunno any symbolism either. Kinda like how yours is called the Messiah.

Dragon symbolism is different throughout the world, but "Vassago" is sorta set, huh? "Messiah" is a lot too, but...

[ I guess he can remember dying again now, the continuation of an earlier memory but now he knows how it ends, falling quiet and staring at the ground. ]
