The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.
Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.
The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.
→ VELVET ROOM ATTENDANTS
The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.
The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Alright. Let's go.
[ He'll get up from the couch and starts heading to the exit portal. ]
no subject
Except it'll be the same Vassago who wants to bite off Terry's head. ]
no subject
How's it like seeing a Persona act out in person, Minato... ]
no subject
Yeah! Duke it out! Terry's always going around picking fights, so this sort of thing should be what he enjoys?? ]
no subject
Terry does like picking fights, but everything is always different when it comes to Vassago. The dragon roars as if screaming, letting the sound reverberate throughout the castle (maybe Kano hears it if he's in the here somewhere). Terry doesn't feel scared, and he dodges the onslaught of multiple God's Hands and Psycho Forces. Can the castle even handle all this... Maybe Terry should be thankful that it's not Lockdown, since that means Vassago's powers are weakened.
Terry just speeds around to latch onto one of Vassago's spine spikes so that the attacks can't reach him. ]
no subject
Well. In the first place, the fact that they're fighting is what's wrong, so Minato places a hand by the side of his mouth and makes a half-hearted attempt to shout over Vassago's roaring. ]
Terrence! Calm down and listen!
no subject
[ Well, not by how he's yelling, but he feels a strange numbness seeping into every fiber of his being otherwise. He only yelled to shout over Vassago. He feels immensely tired already, which makes him get flung off with a God Hand aimed right at him, but Terry just takes it. Absorb Phys is handy, but it doesn't stop inertia from happening, sending Terry to a castle wall, but he only bounces off the wall instead by jumping off it, though that might have made some cracks. ]
no subject
[ At the way he roars, at what he's roaring about? It's not like a wild animal snapping and growling at you; with a Persona, they're a part of you— some of them communicate with words, others with noises, but there's always an intention behind it, a meaning that Minato doesn't understand why Terry doesn't get. Maybe he's never stopped to listen. ]
no subject
[ Vassago doesn't stop his onslaught, casting several Makajamas at Terry. Even if debuffs don't stack, Terry feels strangely empty until his chest feels like it's being constricted. He can't breathe. His lungs shut down. Where is he? What is this place? Who is this person who's trying to talk to him in the distance? His expression twists to one of frustration as if a name is on the tip of his tongue, but it just won't come out.
Accept me.
Vassago roars again as Terry nearly curls up on himself, collapsed on the ground. There's small black wispy smoke at Vassago's feet as he sends a Psycho Force right at Terry in full force. Even with the type resistance, it hurts a lot.
You're pathetic on your own. Accept me and you'll be stronger. You need me.
It looks like Vassago is about to deliver the final blow. ]
no subject
With a sigh, Minato pushes off the wall, knowing he can't get there in time but he doesn't need to; it doesn't take any more than a wisp of thought for Messiah to emerge, standing in front of Terry with coffins piled up in front of him as a shield. He doesn't cast any spell, doesn't attack or assume a defensive stance or anything; Messiah just stands to take the blow, whatever it may be.
As it is now, with the pad of Minato's thumb rubbing against something in his pants pocket, Vassago won't be able to do even a point of damage against Messiah, giving Minato ample time to walk over to Terry's side. ]
no subject
Vassago was about to bite Terry's head off, but ends up ramming his head against Messiah when he stands in the way. Even Vassago can tell that Messiah is pretty much an insurmountable wall, but he's extremely petty, using up whatever health he has left to spam God's Hand on Messiah, even if he will null them all, and the rest of his SP casting multiple Makajamas on Terry. The black wisps grow bigger until Vassago's form disintegrates into small black bits and retreat into Terry's shadow again.
Meanwhile, being unable to breathe for a solid minute with the sudden exhaustion of HP and SP leaves Terry gasping for air once that single debuff has lifted and he feels like he can't move because he feels so tired--his limbs feeling like lead that hold him down. He lets out a small noise of agony, because his memories are full of huge holes and no matter how hard he thinks, he can't fill them in.
Even with his glasses, his vision feels bleak and-- ]
Who...? Are you here to take me back...
no subject
[ When Vassago disappears, Messiah does too, in bright blues and whites that settle over Minato's shoulders instead of at his feet that turn to point to Terry, Minato crouching in front of him and looking at him closely. He doesn't heal Terry, nor does he get rid of the debuff; he just crouches there with his arms on his knees and watches.
"How are you feeling?" sounds like a stupid question, so Minato doesn't ask it. "What do you think?" would be the next one he wants to ask, but he doesn't ask that one either, because Terry looks like he's having a lot of trouble with that too.
If that's the case, he can never go wrong with: ]
...What do you want to do?
no subject
[ --It's the castle. It's the castle that he woke up in his first day here. It's the castle that has the portal. He looks at Minato's clothes and the color feels like it reminds him of something else, but it won't come out no matter how hard he tries while he tries to catch his breath from his lungs suddenly being able to function. ]
... I don't know where to start. I feel like I should know you...
no subject
[ He'd be working his single brain cell too hard over something that doesn't even matter, so he shouldn't bother. ]
How about you start with what's bothering you the most? Then work your way down the list.
no subject
Why I'm here, who you are, and why that dragon was attacking me--
[ He cuts himself off. ]
... Minato. Okay... thank god. I can... I can still remember a little.
[ Yeah, he wasn't going to spill all that to a "complete stranger". ]
no subject
[ Minato doesn't address any of the concerns directly, though, nor does he mention Vassago by name because names aren't important. But he does go ahead and sit down when Terry relaxes a little, and then flops onto his back to stare up at the crumbling ceiling. ]
Does it bother you that much? Not knowing why you're here.
no subject
[ In the end, it was a little bit of ranking after all. ]
Of course it matters, but it looks like I should be safe for now... My head hurts...
no subject
...So if I bring the dragon back and then fuck off, your priority will change?
no subject
no subject
He can summon without lifting a finger, and he can put Terry into the ground if he so chooses. Maybe Terry doesn't remember either of those things. But again is the urge to force Terry into it, to summon Vassago— to make Terry summon Vassago- and make him face his Persona again and again and again until he does it right.
Terry can't die, after all, so, ]
What are you so afraid of?
no subject
[ If Minato actually does that, I wouldn't mind... 👀
After calming down from the initial adrenaline, Terry slowly manages to let go of Minato's arm. He feels the rest of his memories coming back as he forces himself to sit up despite the fatigue. He wants to stop feeling so exhausted, and he figures that one way to get rid of the fatigue is to kill something in order for his passive to kick in. However, Terry seems to understand why that association is dangerous, because it's like being in a high state of euphoria if he gets violent and kills something, and that's not what he wants. On the other hand, his violent tendencies seem to call out to him constantly after he managed to summon Vassago. It's an innate demigod thing that he failed to suppress correctly. This sucks. ]
Haha, yeah... what am I scared of...
[ He says that even though the fear of losing his memories for a moment made him internally reel and want to scream. He needs to be calm now. ]
no subject
Is it because you don't understand him?
[ It's the only thing he can think of, the same way so many people are afraid of death, because they don't fully understand it— they can't fully understand it, until it happens, and by then they won't have the capability for understanding any longer. ]
The same reason you don't like mysteries or puzzles...
[ You really can't brute force understanding, and that goes for Vassago just as much as it does for Terry. ]
no subject
... I understand him, but that's exactly the problem. If he was a mystery, I already solved it a long time ago. Despite that, I don't ever want to acknowledge the result. Vassago showing up always shoves that unwanted result in my face when I end up having to think about what he represents. I hate it.
[ The longer he talks, the more spiteful his voice gets. Pure, unbridled hate drips from it. ]
I'd rather die than accept him, since accepting him would mean that I die anyway. "I" won't be here anymore if I do. If I'm going to die either way, at least give me the choice to die as myself.
no subject
[ But not a bad thing. Minato gets the feeling, every time he remembers something of a past life and he takes on qualities of this other Minato that lived once upon a time, and eventually, "he" won't exist anymore. Not as himself. He doesn't fight it, though, because he's selfish. ]
But I want to help. There'll be a time where you'll have to face this again. You'll have to fight. And I won't be there. If you plan to reject him, promise me you won't go into the fighting thinking you'll die.
no subject
I don't go picking fights thinking that I'll end up dying as an end result, so... yeah. I'll promise you that much.
[ If he does end up dying due to miscalculations, well... he tried...? But he closes his eyes. ]
You probably know this already, but as long as I drink blood every now and then, I won't die. As long as it's not my own, anyway. I'll be fine. Despite me saying what I said earlier, I won't actually die...
