The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

Do what I... what?

[ Terry looks so confused, and he just stares at Minato as if asking for an explanation. Maybe it's a good thing that Vassago had been summoned by Minato, because the first thing he does is just stay still as if relaxed and totally not angry and wanting to bite Terry's head off. ]

Like... how you normally interact with Vassago? ...Do you never interact with him?

[ Is Terry just letting him run loose every time? Minato doesn't get it. ]

How else would you understand him?

I think I told you before, but we don't really talk.

[ It's a lot of one-sided commands from Terry and Vassago choosing to do it or not. There was even a time when Terry physically shut him up by closing Vassago's mouth. Or the time when he stabbed the side of it.

Yeah. ]

Interaction isn't always talking... You interact with your cats, right?

[ Picking them up and brushing them and everything, and sometimes the cats meow back if they feel like it but there isn't generally much talking either. ]

I sometimes tell him to give me a ride, along with someone else if there's anyone else around. And half of them generally like riding on the back of a dragon.

[ The other half is Kido who told him to shut up and not talk while Vassago is flying so high off the ground. ]

Does that count...?

.........I kinda feel like me keeping the omamori is saving Vassago from an abusive home life.

[ At least! Minato and Kano! Will appreciate Vassago!! ]

[ ... ... ...

Terry leans in forward with his elbows on his knees and taking his glasses off for a second to rub his temples with his other hand. ]

If that's what you want to do, then fine.

[compendiem]

I don't want to. That's why I'm doing this.

[ "This" is a general "this." Taking the omamori. Putting Terry through all these questions. Bringing Vassago out. Minato doesn't want this. ]

Anyways, what I want doesn't matter. I'll ask again: do you want the omamori back? You don't need a reason or anything. Just whatever you want.

[overstrain]

Yeah, I want it back.

[ At least that answer hasn't changed, nor does it falter when he says it clearly. He puts his glasses on again and sits up straight, glancing over at Vassago, who just sits there like a mild-mannered dragon. ]

[compendiem]

[ ...Minato hands the omamori back, though Vassago remains sitting there behind him.

In the few days that Terry had giving it to Minato, Vassago returns to him with +3 strength (which you can add to your info page) that Terry might be able to tell. There wasn't any special training done in that time. Vassago and Minato just hung out. ]

[overstrain]

[ Terry looks down at the omamori and looks at Vassago, and then at Minato. ]

You guys didn't do anything? How is he...

[ --stronger? Some part of him doesn't want to admit that his Persona can get stronger by simply bonding. ]

[compendiem]

Hm? He was great.

[ Minato will just fill in the rest of the question in his mind as "How is he doing?" and feels a little better at Terry's apparent interest and concern for his Persona at long last. ]

It was nice having him around.

[overstrain]

But you can summon him whether you have my charm or not.

[ ??? How does this work. ]

[compendiem]

Yeah? So can you.

[ Not voluntarily, but he can. ]

He's your Persona, first and foremost, so it's nice having him.

[overstrain]

Well... alright.

[ Terry doesn't know what to say about that anymore and looks at Vassago. ]

Like you said, he's my Persona, but seeing him like this, summoned by you... I feel like I can handle him better if he's like this.

[compendiem]

[ ...? Minato looks over at Vassago, who turns and looks back at him. As far as Minato's concerned, Vassago's Vassago, so he stands and lets Vassago disappear in a shower of blue light. ]

You got the omamori back now, so why don't you go try it out? I can come with.

[overstrain]

[ Suddenly Terry feels nervous, but... ]

Alright. Let's go.

[ He'll get up from the couch and starts heading to the exit portal. ]

[compendiem]

[ It'll be okay, Minato thinks as he trails after Terry to the portal that'll open out to the castle. It's sort of like getting your dog back after sending it to obedience school for a couple of days, it sort of feels like it's a whole different dog and you're not sure what to expect.

Except it'll be the same Vassago who wants to bite off Terry's head. ]

[overstrain]

[ Haha, yup... and as soon as Terry steps out of the portal that opens out to the castle, Vassago appears and doesn't waste time in attempting to bite Terry's head off. This isn't the first time, but his guard was down that he didn't expect it and barely manages to dodge his fangs. That anger that was supposedly resonating earlier is out in full force and Vassago seems absolutely furious.

How's it like seeing a Persona act out in person, Minato... ]

[compendiem]

[ It's... huh. Minato's starting to think he made a mistake in helping Vassago grow stronger, because if Terry can't control his Persona, that's bad, right? He can't root for one over the other (though he's secretly rooting for Vassago...) so he just stands back and watches.

Yeah! Duke it out! Terry's always going around picking fights, so this sort of thing should be what he enjoys?? ]

[overstrain]

[ I can't believe Minato is just going to watch from the sidelines... Card, why is he like this. What happened to being an Attendant?!

Terry does like picking fights, but everything is always different when it comes to Vassago. The dragon roars as if screaming, letting the sound reverberate throughout the castle (maybe Kano hears it if he's in the here somewhere). Terry doesn't feel scared, and he dodges the onslaught of multiple God's Hands and Psycho Forces. Can the castle even handle all this... Maybe Terry should be thankful that it's not Lockdown, since that means Vassago's powers are weakened.

Terry just speeds around to latch onto one of Vassago's spine spikes so that the attacks can't reach him. ]

[compendiem]

[ It's because he's an Attendant that he just watches from the sidelines, although he can't claim morbid curiosity doesn't play a part too. It's kind of a one-sided battle, he thinks, if Vassago's attacks simultaneously drain Terry's energy at the same time, and he imagines that most of the way Terry fights is physical and won't hurt Vassago in the slightest.

Well. In the first place, the fact that they're fighting is what's wrong, so Minato places a hand by the side of his mouth and makes a half-hearted attempt to shout over Vassago's roaring. ]

Terrence! Calm down and listen!

[overstrain]

I'm calm!

[ Well, not by how he's yelling, but he feels a strange numbness seeping into every fiber of his being otherwise. He only yelled to shout over Vassago. He feels immensely tired already, which makes him get flung off with a God Hand aimed right at him, but Terry just takes it. Absorb Phys is handy, but it doesn't stop inertia from happening, sending Terry to a castle wall, but he only bounces off the wall instead by jumping off it, though that might have made some cracks. ]

[compendiem]

That's step one, but are you listening? Not to me, but to Vassago?

[ At the way he roars, at what he's roaring about? It's not like a wild animal snapping and growling at you; with a Persona, they're a part of you— some of them communicate with words, others with noises, but there's always an intention behind it, a meaning that Minato doesn't understand why Terry doesn't get. Maybe he's never stopped to listen. ]

[overstrain]

I--

[ Vassago doesn't stop his onslaught, casting several Makajamas at Terry. Even if debuffs don't stack, Terry feels strangely empty until his chest feels like it's being constricted. He can't breathe. His lungs shut down. Where is he? What is this place? Who is this person who's trying to talk to him in the distance? His expression twists to one of frustration as if a name is on the tip of his tongue, but it just won't come out.

Accept me.

Vassago roars again as Terry nearly curls up on himself, collapsed on the ground. There's small black wispy smoke at Vassago's feet as he sends a Psycho Force right at Terry in full force. Even with the type resistance, it hurts a lot.

You're pathetic on your own. Accept me and you'll be stronger. You need me.

It looks like Vassago is about to deliver the final blow. ]
