The Velvet Room exists between the consciousness and subconsciousness. It is inaccessible by characters who do not wield a Persona or have lost their Persona for various different reasons. In fact, its entire existence is limited only to Persona users and to the regular individual, they will not be able to even see the entrance to the room. Although it is stationed primarily in the castle, the entrance of the Velvet Room may also be found in various different locations, such as by the dungeons and the shrine. Sometimes, there may be a "malfunction" and an ordinary door will actually lead into the Velvet Room. Why does that happen? Well... perhaps characters will have to ask the attendants for that answer.

Within the room, two attendants occupy the space. These attendants act as guides and will perform various different duties in order to assist the characters. They will pass on plot information, answer questions, give out requests (with the promise of a reward, of course), forge magic-infused weapons, heal, and such on. Requests, in particular, are given out ICly and OOCly monthly and may be undertaken by any character who wishes to complete them. Please see the first toplevel of this entry for more information.

The attendants may be regularly contacted by entering the Velvet Room and, as a result, players may comment to this entry to interact with either attendant. Players may specify which attendant that they'd like to interact with or allow the mods to choose. These threads may be used towards AC and bonus activity. However, due to the attention-intensive nature of NPC threads, these threads may be quickly wrapped up in order to save time for the mods.

🢒🢒 minato The attendant you might have to wake up, pretending to be asleep so you have to bother Souji instead of him. His requests tend towards what he wants to do or eat at the moment, but he seems to enjoy seeing the world, though he isn't always good company. Seriously. Go bother Souji instead.

🢒🢒 souji The more talkative attendant between the two, though he could say some pretty bizarre things. He also seems overly fond of cats for some reason and will unironically go "nya". His requests normally seem to involve taking him out somewhere or bringing him particularly... strange objects.

[overstrain]

[ He recovered from having passed out from heatstroke and since the trial period is over, he makes his way back to the Velvet Room. ]

Minato, I'm here for my charm thing.

[ He calls out to him as he makes his way to the lounge and just plops on the couch. ]

[compendiem]

[ Minato is on one of the other couches, idling twirling a black feather in his hand with his back flat on the length of the couch and feet up on the arm rest. He looks over at Terry when he comes in. ]

Okay.

[ He does not move to get out the charm thing. ]

How was it without Vassago?

[overstrain]

Mm... I had to put in extra effort where he would usually pop up, but other than that... not much felt like it changed.

[ Though he won't go around saying that he's better off without Vassago to Minato's face. ]

[compendiem]

Huh... So, basically, you weren't using him effectively before, so not having him didn't make much of a difference. But that's not new...

[ Poor Vassago. The two of them didn't really do much in the past few days than hang out, though. The dragon got a lot of head pats. ]

[overstrain]

Yeah.

[ He knows that he wasn't using Vassago effectively, but he doesn't look all that bothered by it. ]

I guess I got too used to the times when he refused to come out.

[compendiem]

Oh. What were you asking him to do the times he didn't want to come out? If it doesn't matter to you either way...

[ Like, if somebody asked Minato to come over but they'd be perfectly fine with or without him, he would also want to just lie around and not get up. ]

[overstrain]

Uh... kill stuff like usual.

[ And since Vassago loves going on a killing spree... yeah. He thought that would have enticed him enough to come out, but no. Though Terry doesn't realize that those other times were when he was stuck in the hospital after "death", and the other time when Vassago was just sick of him using like a taxi so he went on strike. ]

[compendiem]

Oh. I get it.

[ Even if Vassago loves killing too, Terry can kill all by himself, so why should Vassago come out? For fun, but... ]

...Rather than partners, you guys are kinda like... two people who work together, huh? But not together. More like... next to each other...

[ It's so weird to him when people don't get along with their Personas; if they're friends, it wouldn't be so complicated. ]

[overstrain]

Yeah, it's a lot like that.

[ Terry seems content that Minato understands, but it's not really something he should be glad about, since the topic is... yeah. If Vassago could rant, he'd rant to Minato about how "working" with Terry is so bad that the cons outweigh the pros. ]

[compendiem]

[ Why can't they just hang out like Kido and Nekogami, or Kano and Ala... why do those two treat their Personas like pets... Anyways! It doesn't always have to be work. Souji also sometimes has Nekogami or Cat Sith out just because. ]

So how come you want him back?

[overstrain]

If I say "convenience", you're not going to give him back, are you?

[ Is this forced therapy... ]

[compendiem]

Is that your answer? Wow. No wonder Vassago's upset.

[ Imagine being kept around just because you're convenient... ]

[overstrain]

[ Sounds like Terry's first year of existence! Though he hated it, and Vassago absolutely hates that too. He probably heard what Terry said and if something can resonate, it would be anger, even if he can't be summoned by Terry while inside the Velvet Room. ]

We work together... to get rid of the obstacles in our way.

[ Does that sound better. ]

[compendiem]

[ Sounds like a lie ]

Do you really work together?

[ Or just side by side. And not even that close- not like covering for each other, more like the two of them just happen to be in the same room. ]

[overstrain]

[ Hm.

Hm... ]

... Maybe you should keep the charm a little longer then.

[ He has no good answers to give right now. ]

[compendiem]

[ He's giving up so easily /:

Minato leans back, hands in his pocket, and considers Terry for a moment, thinking. When he opens his mouth to speak, his voice is quiet. ]

Do you want him back?

[overstrain]

I wouldn't be here if I didn't want him back.

[ But at the same time, it's like he never left, because he hasn't. He looks at Minato. ]

I was thinking that maybe I'll grow to understand that I'll need him the longer I go without him.

[compendiem]

You don't need him, though. Not that you don't need him, but you don't... need... him.

[ Mmmmpph this is too hard for Minato to explain. He tries and starts over. ]

A Persona is your power. It's the same as you being a lot stronger and faster and more durable than others. It's like your intrusive mind reading thing. Like how you're good at cooking, or are good with a bow and arrows. They're all things that are convenient but you don't need them to survive. But they're nice to have. At the very least... I was hoping Vassago could be something like that.

[overstrain]

Yeah, he is like that already.

[ Nice to have. Convenient. A luxury.

... Though maybe that's not what Minato is saying and Terry is misunderstanding. ]

[compendiem]

[ Terry's not getting it but Minato doesn't get that he doesn't get it so he just nods. And summons Vassago in the room, so he can sit in between Minato and Terry. ]

Go ahead.

[ Vassago roars. ]

[overstrain]

... Huh--

[ Terry is startled when Vassago pops up and ends up between Minato and himself. His back presses against the backrest of the couch a little before calming down, but still a little tense. ]

Wait, what do you want me to do??

[compendiem]

Huh? I dunno. Do what you normally do.

[ Minato reaches to pat Vassago's back, and then gives the dragon a nudge to invade Terry's personal space more. The lounge really isn't that big and it gets crowded with an additional dragon. ]

[overstrain]

Do what I... what?

[ Terry looks so confused, and he just stares at Minato as if asking for an explanation. Maybe it's a good thing that Vassago had been summoned by Minato, because the first thing he does is just stay still as if relaxed and totally not angry and wanting to bite Terry's head off. ]

[compendiem]

Like... how you normally interact with Vassago? ...Do you never interact with him?

[ Is Terry just letting him run loose every time? Minato doesn't get it. ]

How else would you understand him?

[overstrain]

I think I told you before, but we don't really talk.

[ It's a lot of one-sided commands from Terry and Vassago choosing to do it or not. There was even a time when Terry physically shut him up by closing Vassago's mouth. Or the time when he stabbed the side of it.
